Menopause has changed who I am
I don’t feel like me. I have become an introverted home body. I used to be an extrovert who was constantly out doing things. Anyone else feel this way?

I hear you for sure! I also wonder if Covid and quarantine and all that is going on with that has impacted things like this? I am right there with you though, I don't really want to do all the fun things that I used to do. Like you said, being home is my happy place too ❤️
@SnuzBelow0707 I experienced a lot of changes during menopause. I felt a wild roller coaster ride of emotions for several years. You are not alone.❤️
does it ever get better?
I am going through the same thing. I’m recovering from alcoholism, going through a 2nd divorce, changing careers, empty nest. I don’t know who I am. Logically I know what to do, I’ve read all the self help books 🤦♀️ However, actually doing it, applying it and carrying it out has been a struggle for me. I feel so hopeless, I don’t know what my purpose is anymore. On top of that I feel extremely alone. Yes, due to COVID, these feelings have been amped up, but I don’t know how to overcome them. Finding friends and community service groups have not been as “easy” as the articles and books have said. I’m rambling. I just wanted you to know that you’re not alone. Maybe we can help encourage each other.

Congratulations for being on the recovery road from alcohol! It seems that right now you have a full plate and that can be truly overwhelming. I'm a great fan to self help guides/books but as you said, it's easier written down than done. It takes a lot of effort and patience to get where we want to be and to be honest sometimes giving ourselves a great deal of self love and compassion and of course reaching out to a trusted person can help best. Know, we are here for you 💙
I’m feeling the same but I’m not going through menopause. Not sure what to do about it either. I’ve tried thinking of things to make me feel excited or happy or even social and extroverted like I once was. And I just can’t seem to come up with anything. The thought of being social sometimes makes me feel anxious and overwhelmed.

I could imagine you grieve the person you once were, hugs (if okay) When I feel down it's hard to get exited about anything and also tend to withdraw. Have you thought to talk to a listener here about it in a 1:1 chat?

Same and I simply do not like the new me. My family doesn’t either and I am simply stuck. Trying to pretend in public all the time is exhausting, just want to stay home and do nothing. But I know thats not the answer, just waiting for motivation is like watching paint dry.
Omg im glad I came across this post. I just turned 50 last December and it seems like I've changed overnight. I don't like the new me - sad, anxious, less energetic and seems to have this persistent depression. I like my old self a lot more. The pandemic didn't help either. I feel very isolated now. I used What I hate the most is this loneliness that seems to linger.
I agree. I have less energy and too many hot flashes.

You're not alone in this. I'm still learning to accept this new body of mine, and how differently I react to things. And not knowing a lot about menopause and how it affects us in so many ways can make it challenging at all.
Hopefully we'll get to know this new "normal" :)
I agree also. It seemed like when I turned 50, I am no 56, that things turned bad so quickly. I lost energy. Gained weight, I also got married for the 3rd time and it seemed each year there were more things wrong physically, mentally, and emotionally! But I will say as I get closer to 60. I am having a feeling of acceptance with myself and slowly adapting to the new me! I am hoping that by the time I reach 60. I will lose the weight and regain some of the energy and enthusiasm for life that I had lost when I had turned 50! At least I am going to keep that positive outlook! Because the positive and sunny you make the future the more chance it has to become more sunny and positive!
@quietWater6398
I had the same feeling, the more I approached the 60s the more acceptance there was and it stayed. I'm over 60 now and it's the best time ever in my life. Things got into balance again. Nice to hear that you started to accept your new you, keep that positive outlook, it will help a lot to build a good future.
