Here's a better idea. Instead of cutting at all, try a different method. I once read of something called The Butterfly Project. It's a very simple concept.
Whenever you think of cutting grab pen and draw a butterfly in the spot you are thinking about cutting. Get creative. Color it, make it pretty. Then name the butterfly. Nurture it, care for it. Let it eventually fade away.
If you cut before the Butterfly has faded, you've killed the butterfly.
It's not easy. I had a friend who struggled with this for a long time. She would draw the Butterfly, nurture it for a few days and then inevitably end up cutting. Then, she would cut again because she killed the Butterfly. Eventually her desire to keep the butterfly alive outweighed her thoughts of cutting.
I know what you're thinking. You said it was simple, why does it seem so hard.
