Hi everyone! With winter approaching and December right around the corner, I thought it would be wonderful to share some of the unique snacks that make this season special in different parts of the world. 🍫❄

Let's hear about each other's favorite snacks that make winter feel special where you are. You can describe how it tastes, smells, or how it is traditionally enjoyed. Is it sweet, savory, or something unexpected? Does it remind you of family gatherings, quiet evenings, or festive celebrations?

I’ll start first: one of my favorite winter treats from my country are roasted peanuts. 🥜 There is something about holding the warm, fragrant peanuts in your hand and savoring their nutty taste that feels cozy and comforting during cold days. The aroma alone makes the season feel a little brighter, and it always brings a sense of simple joy.

It is always fascinating to see the variety of treats that bring warmth and comfort across the world. I’m really looking forward to learning about your favorite winter snacks. 🌍✨

Roasted peanuts are amazing hehe!

I love that food can impact our memories and how we perceive different events or even seasons so much.

My absolute favorite winter delight is hot chocolate! 🥰 For all the warm, cozy, comforting feels.

Ooh and soupy noodles, it’s soup and noodles xD literal defination of “slurpyyy slurpyyyyy comfort in a bowl”. 😭 (happy tears lol)

Peanut brittle, peppermint bark, and chocolate fudge are really good this time of year <3 Hot cocoa is an absolute staple in the States for Christmas, as are gingerbread cookies, candy canes, pecan pie, apple pie, pumpkin pie... Just, all kinds of pie. Americans LOVE pie. hehe

Honestly, I have a sweet tooth and I haven't left any chance to taste any of them 😭😂 For my surprise I used to dip peanut brittle in hot choco then eat it and got weird stares from my friends 😂 just not tasted the gingerbread because my friends told me it's not edible because it is used for decoration purpose "making gingerbread houses" 😆 Thank you so much for sharing delightful snacks with us! 😊💕

User Profile: KindleMissie
KindleMissie OP November 28th, 2025

@Creamyyy Oooh, I love this one! 🧡 Every year in our family it is my task to make this sweet halwa pudding. 😊 The outcomes are always sweet and yummm but the process is something I love and don't love simultaneously 🤣 especially the shredding part! 😁 Thanks for sharing your favourite winter snack with us! 😊💕

User Profile: Creamyyy
Creamyyy November 28th, 2025

@jesusredeemedme2425

Hehe yes i can understand how it strikes as odd.... but its really yummy... its milk & carrots mainly....

South Asian sweets can feel too heavy for people not used to them. We use ghee (butter), sugar (a bit too much at times), milk solids, flour...

if you go to any Indian restaurant you can try gajar ka halwa

You might also come across gulab jamun and ladoo.

Are Indian foods healthier than American food?

What’s the difference between butter and ghee?

What are the last two?? <3

User Profile: Creamyyy
Creamyyy November 28th, 2025

Im from Punjab. We are overdoing on oil & sugar here quite a lot. Diabetes & heart problems are on the rise here ... so maybe thats an indication of excessive consumption of unhealthy foods.

Gulab jamun and ladoo are sweets that I would recommend only 1 serving in a go. They are TOO sweet even for natives like me. But I think one must try once ...

Ghee I dont know how to describe the difference because I only know cooking basics. But basically for parathas, ghee is used. On a toast we would use butter as well..

User Profile: jesusredeemedme2425
jesusredeemedme2425 November 28th, 2025

That’s not good :(

What’s gulab jamun and ladoo?

Do butter and ghee look different or the same visually?

@jesusredeemedme2425 It's  more like pudding. Some people eat it warm while some prefer freezing it then eat. You shred the carrots then you cook them with adding some oil and sweetners until the carrots internal natural water dries up 😂 *p.s. you have to keep moving the spatula which is tiring😭* after then it softens up more like pudding structure you can add milk, nuts, and other toppings you like and cook them a little and tada your gaja halwa is ready 🌟 you can also add vanila ice cream at the end too if you like, I always do this 😋💛

User Profile: jesusredeemedme2425
jesusredeemedme2425 November 28th, 2025

So it’s basically sugared veggies? Like how I put whipped cream on my strawberries??? Hehe

@KindleMissie My favorite winter snacks have to be roasted peanuts too.. especially when you’re roasting your siblings at the same time, it just adds extra flavor😂 and boiled corn with extra spice to put my taste buds on fire🔥

User Profile: KindleMissie

@MeilleureAmie Ohh wow the whole winter recipe right there 😂 Boiled corn with spices *Buono! Too tasty to stop than splashing water on mouth with fire😋* Roasted peanuts with roasted siblings *Cataclysm 🐱😆 gooo* I can relate, at my place we all pretend we haven’t eaten any so the others might share more… which never happens. The peanuts vanish faster than our honesty 😭🔥 Winter foods really have their own magic 😄✨ Thanks for sharing your memorable winter flavor with us! 💖😊

@KindleMissie I am more of a heavy meal for winter myself. I love soup weather or japanese curry over white rice when it's super cold out. It reminds me of when a good friend showed me how to make it and I love it.
