What does "community" mean to you?

The word "community" (easily one of our most-used words here!) embodies so many different things. It can be people who live in the same area or on a virtual platform, share common interests (hobbies/fandoms), identities (LGBTQ+, etc.), religion/belief system, values, support groups, activist groups or our incredible network of listeners and helpers here on 7 Cups.
I'd love to see how we individually perceive the concept of community, and where our similarities lie! Feel free to answer any the speak to you:

Community is a group of people who will unconditionally endeavour to the best of their ability be there for others in the community. Help and support when and where they can others in need of support or help. Knowing that it’s a mutual unwritten rule of such. So whatever stage you are at we work together ensuring nobody falls alone.
A community fosters unity and not division. What would feel an ever growing problem. It also removes isolation and provides a feeling that you can count on others.
what can we do on an individual level, 7cups specific?
This question is difficult to answer as some people simply do not have good intentions. Additionally I have no community so guessing.
Trying to establish conversation, expressing empathy, taking the time to listen.
It is always, well nearly always good to go ask questions respectfully and responsibly. Learn, don’t assume. You might be surprised you was judgemental and were wrong to be. 🤷🏻♀️
I think community is becoming increasingly important in today's world. Amidst all the global chaos and tragedy, it becomes crucial for our mental well being and sometimes our physical safety to be able to relate to people and feel safe and included in their discussions. Since the pandemic, we can get isolated more easily because our day to day lives are increasingly online.

The first question
1. Community is started when one person begins to care about other people and begins to offer service.

Thank you for the opportunity to reflect on something important.
1. What does "community" mean to you?
Community is a place where each member feels a sense of belonging and identifies themselves as part of the whole. When someone feels disconnected from their community, it can lead to feelings of suffering and isolation.
2. Thinking specifically about 7 Cups, what aspects of this community resonate most with you, and how has being a part of it impacted your sense of connection or well-being?
The aspect of this community that resonates most with me is the connection we create. As listeners, we are here to help, while members seek someone to listen to them. This mutual need fosters a strong community and enhances its influence over time. Being a listener on 7 Cups has shown me that, despite the unique topics each member brings, they all share a common desire: to be heard. The reciprocal relationship between listeners and members establishes the foundation of the 7 Cups community, shaping its traditions, policies, and environment. I’ve realized that respecting one another and fulfilling our roles is essential to maintaining a healthy and safe space for everyone.
3. How do you feel we can benefit from community in today's world?
In today's world, the definition of community extends beyond in-person connections or geographical proximity. With so many options available, some individuals may feel lost or isolated, unsure of where they belong. 7 Cups, as a free online chat platform, provides a vital space for people to connect and share their thoughts. Regardless of how times change, the need for someone to talk to remains constant. 7 Cups plays a crucial role in fostering a community where individuals can feel safe, cared for, and connected.
4. What can we do on an individual level within our communities, or by connecting different communities, to build a kinder, stronger world?
Always be mindful of differences among people, and be empathetic and patient. When people have more empathy towards others by recognizing different experiences that each people have, and when people are more patient with others, I am sure that we can contribute to build a kinder and stronger world.

in order to build a kinder, stronger world, we can each, individually reach out to our fellow Listeners and also our Members to follow up on their situations and assure them that there is someone on 7 Cups who will always be there to listen and chat with them!
@Heather225 1. What does "community" mean to you? For me, community is a group with same passion,. different culture, different people. We build the passion together and sacrifice our time to follow the passion 2. Thinking specifically about 7 Cups, what aspects of this community resonate most with you, and how has being a part of it impacted your sense of connection or well-being? First of all, I just wanted to have a community for friends, I didn't think much when I join here. And day by day, I read and search,...wow I can't believe they have volunteer program here. I think I'm lucky, because i didn't expect on 7cups. But now I think I'll treat as a career, not for passion only, for skills, for wisdom,... My feeling is growing better time to time. 3. How do you feel we can benefit from community in today's world? You need to spend time to get the benefits because the relationship is win-win so you can't expect to gain skills but sit in group chat. My apologize for saying something heavy. 4. What can we do on an individual level within our communities, or by connecting different communities, to build a kinder, stronger world? This is a big question. I think about marketing and translation. Most of people love bad things, they won't come because it's good. So we need to use some clean trick but it's hard. These 4 questions are nice. Thank you for creating and listening to me.
