Letting it out.💛

Hey hey everyone, how are you doing today?💜

As the year end approaches, I find myself swimming with multiple thoughts and feelings. Lots of things come up, from the past year and I dunno if anyone relates xD but I guess thought-spiral is a real thing, you think of one thing and then it leads to more thoughts, a cycle, which keeps spiraling. (':

As another year comes at a close, and we are literally so close, last day of the year, eh?! :0

I'd like to encourage everyone to share anything on your mind, we don't need to segregate your thoughts and feelings into positive/ negative this time, whatever's on your mind deserves a let-out space. 💜

Sharing might feel difficult specially when there's too much inside, which ends up making us feel even more overwhelmed, so here's a couple of prompts, if anyone needs:

💛 How are you feeling right *now*?

💛 3 words you'd use describe the past year for you. You can elaborate more on these, of course.

💛 What is the One thing you need to leave behind, as you step into the new year?

💛 3 words to describe how you envision new year for yourself. Elaborate, as you like.

💛 What's the One thing you want to see/ have/ experience or experience more in 2024?

💛 A message to current *you*.

Feel free to reflect, share and let out as you like/ need to. Ooh and please tag anyone who might be interested hehe! 💜

💜 I truly hope 2024 treats everyone with more kindness, patience, love and compassion. May this be a fulfilling year with cheerful experiences and joyous moments where we feel more *alive* and blessed. 💜

💛 How are you feeling right *now*?

Well. Working on ironing the laundry with mom, somehow if we are not going to the theatre it is always connected to some chores, that somehow became a tradition for some reason lol.

💛 3 words you'd use describe the past year for you. You can elaborate more on these, of course.

Growth, change, progress - dropped out of uni, focusing on getting work experience and working towards the life I want

💛 What is the One thing you need to leave behind, as you step into the new year?

My ED, executive disfunction and messed up sleep schedule, hard to choose one. Would prefer to be generous and leave it all lol

💛 3 words to describe how you envision new year for yourself. Elaborate, as you like.

Progress, independence, growth

💛 What's the One thing you want to see/ have/ experience or experience more in 2024?

Visit my bf finally

💛 A message to current *you*.

Hello me. Go eat. It is safe for you. You got this.

Aw yay for a tradition unique and special to you hehe, I like that, how the most mundane things become like a tradition xD fun lol!

Haha yes of course, the "one" thing is usually a starting point to allow people a thinking-space but of course we can be generous and leave anything and everything not benefitting us positively in 2023, moving to the new year with only space for better things for yourself.

I'm so proud of youuu for envisioning the life you want and for willing to take the steps towards building it for you.

Meeting your bf "finally" sounds really wholesome, I hope yall get to meet super soon.

Ooh and yes, dear you, please listen to yourself, it's safe to eat and you definately got thissss. One meal at a timeee.

Thank you for sharing, Cat. Wishing you and your love ones a joyful year ahead filled with progress, independence and lots of growth. 🌻

@Sunisshiningandsoareyou thank youuu. Yess the tradition is great especially because my ADHD makes it difficult to do chores and one time I sorted our bills and had fun. And since then brain just makes me get to work every Silvester we are at home (we go to the theatre alternatively). Also yess. Hoping to see my bf because we are long distance so hope we can do it soon, but it is not easy in our circumstances. As for update on the food, ate it and it was delicious, considering eating something again 😁

Thank you for your kind words and have an amazing New year too 😊

💛 How are you feeling right *now*?

Better than I did ten minutes ago, so that's nice. Just chilling now.

💛 3 words you'd use describe the past year for you. You can elaborate more on these, of course.
Chaotic. Crushing. Hopeful.

💛 What is the One thing you need to leave behind, as you step into the new year?

Shame, I guess. I don't want to be ashamed of myself anymore. I want to be proud of who I am and the person I want to become.

💛 3 words to describe how you envision new year for yourself. Elaborate, as you like.

Hopeful. Resilient. Proud.

💛 What's the One thing you want to see/ have/ experience or experience more in 2024?

Freedom to do what I want, and enjoy things I like even if people don't really see the benefits in it. Sometimes I want to do silly activities and have fun, I shouldn't be ashamed of that.

💛 A message to current *you*.

It hurts now, it hurts like *** and I know you've been thinking if it's worth it. I'm here to let you know it is and it will always be worth it. We're worth it and we deserve to live our life the way we want to. It's not selfish to want to be free and it doesn't make you a bad person to say no. We all have our limits and that's okay. We're human, not perfect. Embrace it and enjoy it, because you won't be able to go back.

Hi. Please find my answers as under :

1. I am not feeling well right now. Just had a surgery done on me couple of weeks back, which saw me bedridden for 2 weeks. Apart from that some issues have come up at my workplace. In fact, just couple of hours back, I had a good long crying session, which was a moment of catharsis for me.

2. 3 words to describe 2023 : challenging, transformative, enlightening.

3. I need to leave behind the scars of 2023 as I step into 2024. Allow myself the space to heal at my own speed.

4. 3 words I envision new year / 2024 in general : opportune, opportunistic, serene.

5. I see myself evolving into a calmer person in 2024, and better at my craft than I was in 2023. In short, I want to become a better version of myself in 2024.

6. A message to current me : "Meet, you have been through a lot, and you are doing a fab job. Keep going."

Thanks for reading.

Oh goodness, it sounds really painful, Meet, I wish you a speedy recovery. Please continue treating yourself gently as you navigate the challenges with your health and wellbeing.

Crying sessions can definitely be a cathartic experience, with a whirlwind of emotions surfacing, but it's really commendable you provide yourself the space to feel your feelings and let out your emotions.

I'm glad the past year was transformative and enlightening too, despite being challenging, I guess the challenges are often disguised opportunities for enlightened  transformation for us and moments where we meet and embrace our resilient self more.

I'm really proud of how far you've come and for how strongly you've braved through the storms you've encountered. Here's wishing you a blissful new year with many many wonderful opportunities and serene experiences. Keep going, Meet, you're indeed doing fabulous!

💛 How are you feeling right *now*?

💛 3 words you'd use describe the past year for you. You can elaborate more on these, of course.

Stressful. Loss. Disappointing.  Lots of personal chaos happened this past year and it looks like it's continuing in 2024.

💛 What is the One thing you need to leave behind, as you step into the new year?

My anxiety.  It's interfering with living my life.

💛 3 words to describe how you envision new year for yourself. Elaborate, as you like.

Relaxed, at peace, forward-thinking.  I really need to focus on myself this year.  I've lost a lot of myself because all of my energy has been for everyone else.

💛 What's the One thing you want to see/ have/ experience or experience more in 2024?

I want to take more time to be outside, walk along the lakeshore, go on retreats.

How are you feeling right *now*?

Tired (': But content in my skills in volleyball and the progress I've made recently, as it has just started to show recently in my play.

3 words you'd use describe the past year for you. You can elaborate more on these, of course.

Change, experiences, community

Change - This past year I've been granted many chances to try new things and be thrown into new experiences, some of which have changed my habits, changed my friends, changed how I go about life and really changed how I am as a person today.

Experiences - I got to spend 6 weeks at a summer camp with my favorite people in the world, go backpacking for a couple days and canoe for a couple days. I zip lined over a rain forest and met new people.

Community - Through spending all the time at camp and in the volleyball gym, I've met a lot of new people that have made living so much more enjoyable. Now, as I return to camp in June, I have a group of people that I know I will always connect with. As for volleyball, I have made bunches of new friends through spending every weekday in the gym.

What is the One thing you need to leave behind, as you step into the new year?

I am leaving behind old mindsets. As I move into the new year, I am trying to be more for lack of a better word, consistent with my friendship choices, how I treat others and myself, how I speak to others, how I share my feelings, and overall, how I present myself to others.

3 words to describe how you envision new year for yourself. Elaborate, as you like.

Growth, healing, change

Growth - I feel like going into the new year growing on everything I've learned in the past year. I have made huge leaps in my volleyball skill, and I would love to grow on that and make a good team going into my freshman year of high school.

Healing - 2024 is a year for me to heal. 2023 wasn't very kind, and I am hoping that 2024 will be better for me, and provide opportunities to heal from the struggles that I faced this past year.

Change - The world is ever-changing, and so are all of us. We need to accept this change, no matter how scary change can be. I know for me, I am not always ready for change. I am starting to change levels in my training, and change is the scariest thing for me right now. 2024 will be a year of learning how to accept change, and grown from it, not let it set me back down.

What's the One thing you want to see/ have/ experience or experience more in 2024?

I would love to see more of my friends again, and I will get this chance in June. I would also like to experience being on a high level volleyball team, with girls that feel like family, all learning and growing and getting better at the sport we love together.

A message to current *you*.

Get some rest. As much as you feel fine now, with all the training you have been doing, rest is exactly what you need for your skills to continue to progress like they've been doing recently.

@mysteriousClover

Hey hey, soo amazed to see your reflections, thank you for sharing.

Coming to this in a while hehe, how are you feeling today? I hope you are taking some rest and yay for recognizing the progress in your play. volleyball is such a fun sport.

Omigooosh Cloverr, I'm so happy to hear 2023 was full of cherish-worthy experiences for you, the camp sounds super fun and with lovely people to create a community with, the fun surely increases hehe. I hope to try ziplining someday; I chickened out the last time we were at this sporty retreat many years ago lol. (':

Recognising the need to leave behind old mindsets and try to better at presenting yourself to others along with being more mindful and consistent with your choices of people, friendships and showing up is very very wise, I think!

I absolutely love what you said about 'change' and agree wholeheartedly, it is so not comfortable but change is certainly the only "constant" as they say and learning to accept, embrace and grow along with it, sounds like the bestest way to go about it. I am sooo proud of youuu for taking the time to reflect on the struggles the past year has put you through, as you acknowledge your persistence and progress in different aspects, realising what you envision in 2024 for yourself and being willing to work on yourself.

Here's to taking mindful pauses, resting, healing, growth, learning to befriend change and experiencing the joy of friendships and volleyball as you continue to hone your craft and work on yourself, at your pace. You sooo got this, wonder-hooman!

Oooh and do share about the camping experience(s) in June too. I'm feeling so excited for you!

i've felt about the same as of, i've been in the gym training with kids years older than me, and i've put a lot of pressure on my growing bones. i shooould be taking a rest, as my knees, feet and shoulders aren't functioning properly, but i love being in the gym so much it sucks just taking only 2 days off.

how are you doing sun?

I just did a similar exercise with my family the other night! Love these ideas. We also drew a picture of 2023, a picture of 2024, and imagined ourselves at the end of 2024 talking to our current self and wrote up what that future self would say. I think these type of annual reflections are very important. If you take a picture of them, then you can compare it the following year and keep a running tally of how you've changed over the years.

Thank you for leading this here!

💛 How are you feeling right now?

For once, I am feeling acceptable, if that makes sense.

💛 3 words you'd use to describe the past year for you. You can elaborate more on these, of course.

Hard, lonely, & unachievable.

Hard: my mom's health was all over the place this past year. Multiple hospital visits & admissions.

Lonely: I felt as if I couldn't reach out to the people I routinely talk to about what was going on in my life without feeling aggravating to them, or just straight up ignored. It's ironic, because over the years I've never shared my feelings about anything, & these same people told me that it was ok to open up & rely on others. But when I finally get the urge to do so, their backs are turned on me.

Unachievable: there were a lot of times throughout the last year that I felt as if I wasn't going to make it through. I'm so grateful that I did, but it was definitely one of the hardest years of my life.

💛 What is one thing you need to leave behind, as you step into the new year?

Fear of things not working out, because one way or another they always will.

💛 3 words to describe how you envision the new year for yourself. Elaborate, as you like.

Calm, creative, & joyful.

💛 What's the one thing you want to see/have/experience or experience more in 2024?

I want to see people being more considerate to each other.

💛 A message to the current you.

I don't have much to say but you've been through so much, not just 2023 but in general - & you're still here. That's something to be amazed by.

Hey hey @raspberrypeach200, I really appreciate you taking the time to share. 🤗

It is so upsetting to hear about your mom, seeing a dear one suffer is never a nice experience. The many appointments and hospital visits too add to the stress. How is she doing currently?

I feel youu, it is incredibly disappointing when people say they are there but are actually not in times of need, very valid to feel lonelier when such happens and you've got no one reliable to turn to.

I am really glad despite the challenging times you've been through, you've persevered through all of them and are here. And yesss, that definitely is something to be amazed by and something to celebrate.

I am so glad to hear you're feeling acceptable and trying to leave behind your fears. It is such a nice affirmation too, I think "things eventually do work out".

People being more considerate towards each other is a beautiful wish for 2024 hehe, specially in today's times, a little kindness goes a long long way, I feel. Here's wishing 2024 to be calmer and more joyful for you. 💛 Oooh and creative, I like that, how do you seek to incorporate "creativity" in your life, this year?
