☀️This past week was standard, stable & quiet... Last weekend both SAT/SUN was a complete 'Self-care' weekend... (Although I did start off each day with a Zumba class to get in my workout & activity)... But afterwards I basically relaxed & chilled at home for a change. And also got outdoors for some walks with the pup.~

🌷 As the week started off, I got back on track with All my usual work & routines... And Kept up with Meal-Tracking & Workouts... (Although both Hydration & Sleep goals I feel could've been better)... Overall I feel my efforts & personal goals for April were well... And I'm ready to continue pushing forwards in my efforts for the Month of May, (Just trying to figure out if I want to tweak anything in my goals for May)...~

🦋  The weather here has been a little cooler this past week than it has been recently.. And this weekend ahead looks to be not much different... But intentions are to at least start both SAT/SUN off with a Workout class, & then go where the "weather & the day" takes us afterwards... (Maybe a possible festival, some light errands, & hopefully continue with a little bit of Landscaping that still needs completed), not sure yet?...~ But it will also be another weekend where Intentions are to squeeze in some Self-Care & Relaxation time before Jumping back into the First week of the New Month ahead~

@PoliteOcean

I had a difficult week.

Draining.

Alot of stress.

I'm trying to learn how to deal with my emotions better and not rely on others , but myself.

I wish people would see we all have our good and bad days, our struggles but our mental health doesn't define us or tell the whole story.

I would bring music, water and sweets to the beach 🩷🩵

Have a great weekend Polite 🥰

Hey there Amanda~ So sorry to hear that you had a difficult week... I know that things can both feel & be difficult & draining when you have alot on your plate to deal with. And can also tend to be exhausting physically, mentally & emotionally...

That's truly great that you are trying to learn how to deal with your emotions better... It can be challenging to Not rely on others, But Hopefully you also know that it's "Okay" to need & ask for help as well!.. And we are surely here to support you at Cups with that!... Have you thought about What small steps you could take or work on that could help you to feel more independent in not feeling like you have to rely on others? (& of Course, that is only if you wish to share)! No pressure!

Nice one! That is definitely a great observation & something to share with others regarding Mental Health Awareness & the Stigma that can sometimes surround it.... I do feel that in more "recent" years that we've made some pretty good & positive strides there in creating more awareness about it? Thankfully we have places like Cups to help in that as well!

Yes, definitely need a little music at the Beach!... What music do you like listening to while lounging in the Sun & sand?!

Thanks for checking in to share your week with us Amanda, & Simply letting us know how things are going for you. Always a pleasure to have you here each week. As well as always being so kind & supportive to everyone!... Please continue to keep us updated on things! 😊 💕

@PoliteOcean Going back a week ago to last Saturday I cleaned my closet. I'm slowly but surely making more storage room for books out of my extremely cramped bedroom. I have a stack of maybe 8-10 books I'm going to donate to the local library. Tuesday I severely overstrained my back re-organizing my books. It took me 4 hours to go to sleep. Wednesday I got some mail from my agency that I was upset about. Sometimes my agency treats me like I'm mentally defective. Thursday I went to see my PCP and it went well. My BP is 117/77 and she was happy about my blood test results. I think John's boyfriend Marley has broken up with him. This is good news because it means he won't be moving out. I'm really upset about my lack of progress on my Philosophy Certificate because of my toxic environment.  I'm completely at a loss about what to do about it. I try to think of creative solutions but I can't come up with anything. I only went on 1 walk this week. For this upcoming week I have a massage scheduled for Monday. For the month of May I will be taking Manganese (for my tendons) and Beta-Alanine.

@Regmo

Hey Regmo~... Despite the issues of straining your back, the situation with your agency, & only being able to get one walk in, It does sound like you managed to have some healthy & positive events this past week... (Between cleaning out your closet, creating more storage room for yourself, donating things that you no longer need, a good BP reading, & good blood test results)!.... All of that is great news for you there. That does certainly sound like a dilemma for you regarding feeling like you had lack of progress on your Philosophy Certificate, & even more so when you feel that the environment that you are in hasn't been conducive to your efforts. And I'm sure its a challenge to figure out a solution when you are in a place that doesn't give you the quietness or privacy that you may need to work on things. Hopefully you will be able to manage a solution for yourself there soon. Sometimes it may take a little more time than we like, but I'm sure eventually an idea with come... Keep us updated & posted on how things go for you this month with taking your Manganese & Beta-Alanine. And thanks for continuing to share your week with us!

Can you tell us ONE good thing about your past week?!  My last class ended.  I'm just waiting for my last grade, and then I will be done with my masters degree.

🌷 This is our "FIRST" Check-in for the Month of "MAY"...~ As we start this 5th Chapter of the Year, What are you looking forwards to this month?... What weekly or monthly goals would you like to focus on, create for yourself, or like to accomplish?  Well I'm moving June 2nd, so I am working on the last of packing.  It's making me very nervous.

🦋 MAY is also "MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH"!.. It's Known as a time to raise Awareness of those living with Mental or Behavioral health issues, and to help reduce the stigma that so many experience... What Stigma do you personally feel is the biggest regarding Mental Health?... What's something that you would personally like others to know or would like to clarify about Mental Health?!  I  don't know which is the most important.  I guess it is just that most people have mental problems and we, as a country, need to provide that to everyone free of cost.

☀️ JUST FOR FUN: It's MAY, & We're ready to go to the BEACH!... WHAT are the "TOP" Three things that you are packing in your Beach-Bag for the day?!... (I'll start: Snacks, Phone, Water)  big towel, water, phone

🌷 What were your "Highlights or Struggles" of the week?... How were you able to work through your Challenges in a Healthy Way?!  I'm trying to sleep a lot and stick to a routine, but my body isn't cooperating.  I have felt good about how my packing is going, but for some reason, today, I don't feel good about the packing.  I feel like I won't make it on time.  Today I packed 3 boxes and sorted through clothes.  I'm making piles for Goodwill.  I'm in tears.  I am going to have a small room for me and Chloe, and that makes me cry.  I didn't know that before we made plans for me to move in.  I'm stuck now.  My sister is doing nice things to make me and Chloe comfortable.  So that's good.  I hope I get along with them.  I haven't in the past, but my sister is sober now.  She is a very nice person when she is sober.  I don't have experience being around her when she's sober so I'm nervous about her staying sober.  There is a lot that I am nervous about.  I'm going through a very hard time.  Please pray for me.

Hey Tree~

Wow that’s awesome for you that you are finally about to be finished with your Masters! I know I asked before (& blame my head & not my heart), but I can be a little forgetful… But what exactly is your Masters degree in? (Like the Name of the degree)?

Yes it’s understandable that you feel a bit Nervous.. June 2nd seems like it’s very fast approaching. I can hardly believe we are in May already?! But you’ve made it this far already, & I’m sure without doubt that things will continue to go well for you & all the efforts you’re putting in to make things happen for yourself will be fruitful..

Free of cost would be a fantastic option for everyone.., It’s a shame that we are supposed to be the most progressive country, yet it seems though that all the others have Free healthcare being paid for them... That definitely just doesn’t seem right..

Aww Tree.. I can surely see why you are having some nervous feelings & doubts about the “unknown”. That’s definitely challenging & difficult. But if it seems your sister is doing well & remaining that way, then perhaps it will bring you both even closer once you are there… And hopefully you can create a plan or timetable for yourself based on how long you want to stay there or be there & how you will want to proceed going forward with your new degree. As I’m sure having that will also open up new paths & doors for you. Between eventual employment, & inevitably another new place of your own for you & Chloe down the line when you are in fact ready for that!.. Day by day, step by step, one day at a time. You have been very resourceful in my time knowing you here. And I have no doubt you will continue to be no matter what comes your way. You’ve got this Tree! 🙏🏼 Prayers up for you.

And as always please continue to keep us posted on Everything & how things are continuing to move along for you. We are here for you. Thanks for checking in to share with us & keeping us updated this week!

@PoliteOcean

What are you looking forwards to this month?...

we looking forward to our cats 11th birthday on may 15th
What weekly or monthly goals would you like to focus on

we working on healthy living within the  wellness accountability  huddle here on 7 cups as we had this last few weeks a few new health  things come up so many unknowns still there too

we be trying to be more open about how we really be not just saying ok or fine when we really not we seem to have a habit of  saying we ok but we really not even our offline therapist  has picked usp on that we was taught  to smile all the time and to say ok all the time  to  our goal to stop doing that around others and to just say how we really doing

What Stigma do you personally feel is the biggest regarding Mental Health?

that ones who mentally ill are lazy and weak

What's something that you would personally like others to know or would like to clarify about Mental Health?!

that ones with mental health are not their mental DX but are people with mental illnesses so many times in past we had people even in our family say this our daughter  with PTSD  SH it like they think we not a real person but just our mental health DX

What were your  Struggles" of the week

the big one was  the dealing with finding out our right kidney  only working at 20%  we at first freaked out was so thankful for few on 7 cups who really listened and supported us in that we was able to start working through this  Challenges in a Healthy Way by asking for help offline in setting up the appointments need  for more testing and the transportation to them appointments  this was big help as we use to never ask for help then get overwhelmed  to put of not setting appointments up

Awww… How fun! A Kitty 🐈‍⬛ Birthday! 🙂

That’s great that you are continuing to work on being more open about your feelings! As well as continuing to work towards your healthy living goals through the accountability huddles here at Cups. Good job to you there for sticking with it. 👍🏼

Mental Health stigmas are so difficult. And we’re sorry that you have to deal with them as well. Im sure it’s been hard when someone makes you feel like you’re not a real person because of it. It’s a great thing that people are continuing to fight for what’s right so that these Stigmas can maybe one day be gone!

It’s wonderful that you felt heard &  Supported from Cups during your challenges of the week. And that you were able to try to work through them in healthy ways by asking for help offline, setting up appts, and transportation. Awesome job to you there on all of those positive things! Continue to Keep up the great work that you are doing!

And thank you for checking in to share with us. And please keep us updated on how you are doing.

we been able to reach out let other help us with all this  medical ttests and doctor appointments this been making them less overwhelming  to us

I know you’ve been dealing with this for quite awhile... Having physical setbacks can definitely be very stressful & depressing. Especially when or if we can’t do or enjoy the things we desire in the way we like.

Are you currently in any type of Physical therapy? Perhaps it might or could help with improving things for you?

Well it’s going. I’ve been focused on restoration for my heart and soul. Weekend was great and a little surprising. Got to hangout with my wife more, exercise, and catch up on a few doctor appts. Life outside work is peaceful. Been exploring different parks to walk around. Meditation to provide clarity.

Work still gives me a broken heart. Chatted with colleagues, mentors, and mentees. Even though work is mostly about grind and frustrations show we care about things. I need to listen to what my spirit, body, and heart tell me if staying a little longer is the best or move on to another job. Salary feels like it’s getting cut along with workload. Networking gets reshaped without flow down. Makes it hard to grow in certain ways. Balance just seems off. Certain risks I’m not ok with. I flop into mental health for salary instability.

Hey there~

Wow, that’s a great focus that you have there! (Restoration for the heart & Soul). Best wishes to you on developing that Peace within~

Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend experience! Hanging out with your spouse. Exercising, getting in appointments, some moments of peacefulness & meditation as well as exploring the areas around you!.. All of those sound like amazing & positive accomplishments! And All of those little things & steps add up to so much more than we may realize?! So Great job to you there & keep up the great work! …By the way, what kind of exercise did you enjoy?!

I can totally understand how work related matters can have us feeling torn in half. We’re sorry to hear that you are still feeling the stressors related to this subject… In the end, you always have to do whatever is best for you to do. As you say, it can be hard, but definitely listening to your own “Spirit, body, & heart” can help to guide you in the way to go. (When you really take the time to listen) that is…. Decide what will give you the MOST Peace in your life. Even if it is the “harder” of the choices?!.. (One of my personal mottos is, “if it costs you your peace, then it’s way too expensive”)!

So may you find the peace, balance, & right answer for yourself going forward! (As well as that restoration of the heart & soul that you are working on)!

Please keep us updated on your thoughts & decision. And let us know how things are going for you. And thanks for checking in to share with us.

Thanks.

I’m trying light cardio, stretching, and balance exercises. Balance is just so I feel more grounded standing on one foot or certain positions.

In my past week: I rearranged my room. Changed the location of the bed and study table and now my room looks 3 times spacious than before ✨✨

I am looking forward to giving few of my last entrance exams for college on 26th of May.

Mental health stigma: This one hits close to my home. Internalised Stigma. Or self stigma. Where we rank our struggles as "lesser" and feel like we haven't earned the right to seek help yet; which adds guilt for struggling and increases mental burdens...I struggle with this very often. Especially when I witness how extreme/visible struggles are validated and the invisible struggles like burnout and anxiety get overlooked and labelled as "excuses", "laziness" and "indiscipline".

The fact that a person could be drowning in 10ft of water and another in 20ft—which doesn't erase the fact that both of them are in danger...

And we all are uniquely wired with individual base lines and coping mechanisms. There is no way to rank and measure someone else's pain. As my friend once said, there is no suffering olympics where the winner gets empathy. Neither do we have a scale to measure your struggle and give empathy accordingly... because that would mean empathy is limited. Which it ISN'T.

There is no such hierarchy. Ranking on this invisible scale instead of supporting creates an unsafe environment where people hide their struggles in fearing that they'd be called "weak".

If you're going to the beach (unlike me, who has exams 🙄), DONT FORGET THE SUNSCREEN!!!

My highlight of the week was after yet another set back I faced once again this year, I tried to not criticize myself for just being there acknowledging the fall. Affirmed that it was okay to not always bounceback instantly. We're humans, not ping pong balls.

Struggle: Saying no or expressing my views in a space where I am unheard. Becoming a doormat to keep peace is exhausting , but so is speaking when you are being misunderstood and dismissed 🫠.

Oh and laughter as a coping mechanism is great until it gets mixed up with self depreciation!

Also (promise this is the end of my royal ramblings) acknowledging the fact that our energy bank needs regular deposits... If you just keep withdrawing, you'll eventually hit zero!!!

Hey there~

How great that you were able to get a little organization done around your room! I know how helpful that can be. And it can make us feel accomplished both Mentally & emotionally. Organization is definitely beneficial to our minds & in decreasing stress! Great job to you there. 👊🏼

Good luck to you on your last entrance exams! We are rooting for you. 🙂

It definitely seems like you’ve truly thought long and hard about Mental health Stigmas. And it seems that you have personally faced them as well. You’ve surely came to a lot of good realizations for yourself there! As well made a lot of great points!

😮😮Sunscreen!!!. Nobody mentioned Sunscreen 🧴!! How can we forget that!? Yikes! 😱 .. Awesome job to you on catching that one & mentioning it!

Despite your struggles of the week, what a Wonderful job to you on your weekly “highlight” of trying not to criticize yourself. We can definitely be our own worst critics! So Good job to you on giving yourself some Grace where needed~

And Thank you for sharing many of your wonderful insights with our community! And for checking in to share your week with us. Please keep us updated on how things are going for you. As well as how things went with your exams.

This month I am looking forward to a week off. Not going anywhere, but I am taking time off around a family holiday. I think that I will go kayaking.

I'm struggling with leadership at work. It's very bad, and it has really injured me, and there's no indication that this will slow down. So, like every week, I am setting and achieving small goals. To retain a sense of self and well-being

This week's goal was more cooking less processed food, and leaving on time at work whether there was stuff left to do or not.

The first goal, I achieved all but one day,🌷 the second goal I mostly achieved, next week, I will achieve it fully.
