How are you identifying your distress level and what are you doing on a daily basis to increase your resilience?
My stress level depends on how my day goes. One way to rebuild my resilence is to write things happening in my day in my journal.
My body would speak directly to me if I'm down or distressed. I would be so tired dont wanna do anything. To increase my resilience, i practice breathing, and mindfulness
@amiablePeace77 How are you identifying your distress level and what are you doing on a daily basis to increase your resilience?
I think monitoring what is happening inside is important throughout the day. When things start to get unsettled, it is time for a time out and assess what needs are unfulfilled. Signs of distress can be irritation and frustration.
@soulsings
Seems like you understand your body very well soul!
@amiablePeace77 when I do not listen to my body it lets me know!!!
@amiablePeace77
I try my hardest to meditate, journal and pray dialy. If I start to feel overwhelmed I try to immediately put myself in the present moment and focus my breathing to start grounding myself.
@bumblebeebugg wow that sounds really helpful. Keep up the good work.
@amiablePeace77
i noticed when I start sighing, I'm getting stressed and I go outside and take some deep breath's and decide if what is stressing me out is worth continuing.
@Misty72 that is a good idea get away from what is happening and get another perspective.
@amiablePeace77
Hello Ami thank you for this check-in
This is so up my alley with life stressors right now.(I swear you are in my head)
How are you identifying your distress level and what are you doing on a daily basis to increase your resilience?
I identify my distress level by anything that is ongoing, demanding, more and more expectations, 1 sided relationships and so on. How I increase my resilance is to remember to have an open mind. Check in on my morals. See if it is worth it or not. And whatever it is I am distress on-is it something I can overlook and deal with, or is it something that keeps occuring with whatever I am doing.
@RumpleSteeleSkin
Being open-minded is a great quality to have to gain more insight and allow new experiences.
Increasing expectations or unbalanced relationships can definitively increase our stress levels, glad you're keeping a close eye on what's going on in your life.
Hope your moving houses is going alright and not too stressful.
Ever since being in this new city for my new job, I have been feeling quite sad for several days on and off. Distracting myself with books and tv shows really only helps so much. However, I have found that I feel a little bit better just by going out and taking a drive. I pretty much had to force myself to do it. Ended up getting a nice sandwich in the drive thru and then looked at a nearby greenhouse today when I was feeling down all morning. I guess that's why they say exercise (even just walking) really does lift your mood.
I realize that I didn't actually answer the question. Sorry about that! I identify my distress level by how motivated/not motivated I am towards things. I also notice whenever my mind shifts too much into negative rumination. Sometimes I can catch it before it starts and sometimes I can't.
@cafedaydreams I hear you. Getting out really helps me. Especially with all this isolation.
I identify my stress level by how many times I have to walk away from whatever I'm doing. If I'm very stressed it happens several times a day. If not, then maybe once. To de-stress I might read or watch horror movies. I have some worksheets on relationships that I want to do with my husband but he is too busy.
@Tasha2319
Nice to hear that reading relaxes you, there are so many good books on the market. Btw did you read the 7cups for the Searching Soul https://www.7cups.com/7cups-for-the-searching-soul/ ?
Hope your husband will be able to make time soon in order to work with you on those relationship worksheets.
I use a mood log to identify how I am feeling so that I can track if I am feeling stressed or not. I think being more mindfulness helps my resilience & a self- care activity so that I take a mental break from the stressor.
@Harmony8682
Having a mood log is a great idea! It can help also to discover patterns about our moods and what is helpful and not. Are you using an app or simply write it down on your laptop or into a notebook?
Yes I agree it does help identify patterns. Sometimes you don't realise you are actually feeling that emotion and the duration it lasts for until you log it. I use a app called Daylio. It gives you a average score per week and displays your mood on a graph.
