August 2025 Community Update!

Dear Community,

I hope all is well! Summer is already winding down here as my kids are just about back in school. They go back early this year and are not too happy.

First, a big thank you to all you Android users out there that have been helping us squash bugs. Sometimes they can be very tricky. Your perseverance and willingness to troubleshoot is very helpful!

We’ve also been focused more on a number of behind the scenes infrastructure type projects. None of these are interesting, but they are necessary to keep the site and apps running as smoothly as possible. 

Noni has been on a hiatus, but is almost fully rested. She sent me a note indicating that she should be back in action in the next week or two. She has also told me that she’ll be quite a bit smarter, a better listener, and have more cognitive flexibility. You’ll have to let me know if you agree with her self-assessment :).

We are also doing an update to the one line a day journal. Long posts should be done in the forums. We will soon be limiting the journal to 500 characters. Still plenty of space, but not too much.

Last, I would very much welcome any thoughts or reactions you have to this pronoia post - pronoia is the belief that there is a secret conspiracy to help you. It is the opposite of paranoia.

​​This has been a big month for 7 Cups, marking our 12th year around the sun! 

Keeping in tradition, we announced our annual award winners, the PB and the Smalls, for outstanding leadership. And to celebrate our members and acknowledge their unique role in strengthening our community, we introduced a brand new award entitled Community Cupcake!

As far as new things go, I have launched 2 AMAs: one for our leadership opportunities and all queries regarding what being a 7 Cups leader. This series runs on collaboration from fellow leaders, so if you are in a leadership role, please consider signing up to join me and share your insights. Details about the AMA are here, and you’ll find the cohost sign-up form within it.

The second is for newbies! Are you new/newish to 7 Cups and wondering where to start? I will be hosting space for you every month. The first session happens to be today at 5PM EST! Hope to see you!

Speaking of 7 Cups leaders,, if you’ve ever been a leader, past or present, stories inspire others, and I’d love for you to talk about your journey. Please spare a few moments of your time to reflect on this thread. I would like to feature replies in a future post to expand knowledge and hopefully spark the intrigue of new leaders! Only together do we lift each other.

It has been an eventful month on the teen side. We discussed weird food combos that just work! We have also been exploring our senses through the sensory snapshot series. Lastly we had some chats talking about the good things that happened for us in the past few days. You can view the compiled list here. We are at 129 things and would welcome more!  Lastly, the mindful minutes team is looking for new hosts to lead mindful minutes. If interested, apply here! Open to teens and adult-teen listeners.

In the Group Support news, we updated the onboarding process of Room Supporter and announced the new application post with all information on how to become a Room Supporter. The role is an important part of the Group Chats to ensure a positive, uplifting, and inclusive experience for anyone who is participating in it. 

We introduced a lighthearted initiative, Vibe Check, to add some structured fun, so we can keep the conversations flowing and make sure there's always something engaging happening in the Member Community Room and Teen Community Room. Thank you to our 8 Vibe Setters who are actively supporting this initiative, and huge shout to them for stepping up. 

Also, on the teen side of the group chats, we introduced a short pop-up guidelines refresher to ensure every single one of you feels seen, heard, and like they truly belong to the teen group chats. If you haven’t taken the refresher yet, give it a try here!

In the Verified Listener news, becoming a Verified Listener is one of the key milestones for a listener. A huge shout-out and gratitude to all of our verifier team for their resilient and careful work. We helped and supported 70+ listeners to get verified this month.

This month, we celebrated the 7 Cups Birthday across the community. Thank you to everyone who attended our community events and helped mark this occasion with joy and gratitude to the progress we have made.

We have also released the much awaited Paper Plate Awards to mark the end of this month on a note of appreciation and celebration of our community users. You will be able to download your award to serve as a memory of this event.

As Glen mentioned, we have been working hard to update the Android app after a lot of open testing. Thank you for helping us identify common challenges there.
