Next week - Navigation Bar Updates!
Hi All,
We will be updating the navigation bar in the next 1-2 weeks.
But, what is a navigation bar?

Yup! its what you use to navigate around the site! Note: the below charts only reflect the left side of the nav bar.
This change is to make the navigation bars more efficient for you to get around the site!
But what will the new navigation look like? There are 3 new navigation bars based on how you logged in!
1) Member

2) Listener

3) Guest

Some new additions -
Advice - this will link you to our expert blog! Which is currently linked and hidden in the footer. Here is the link. We are sharing up to 4 articles a week and we want to make sure this information and resources is easily available.
Please take a look and let us know if you have any questions or feedback! As soon as I know the date of the launch, I will post it in this thread!
Thank you!
@Laura Ooh we will have easier access to the forums?
Hi @AffyAvo -- This update doen't really change the primary navigation choices for most users. We still focus on going to the Path section for seflf help, to the Chat section for 1-1 and group chat, and the Community section for forum, subcommunities, etc.
The update does a few things. Mainly it makes the code more efficient and clean. In addition we wanted to:
• add the Advice link to expert blog content
• fix how the menu wraps badly at some widths
• fix home page and expert content headers that werent right
@KrinkTheMellowUnicorn If you could sneak it in somehow the forum team would appreciate it!

I totally agree 1 less click would be really nice for the stuff under Community since a lot of us are on those pages a ton.

Any chance we can make the community item a drop down? I think many of us would really appreciate it.

@MonBon - we can do that. my hope was that one day chat, path, and community could all have no dropdown and just present their subcontents directly but i hear from what others are saying that the dropdowns are preferred, so we can revert to the way it used to be and put the community sections on that menu again.
we likely wouldn

Re: yellow bar, i don't think anyone would complain if it stayed, but you're right that it probably wouldn't be necessary anymore.
@Laura Good to know, thanks for the update.
this is good to know
@Laura
Thanks Laura, looks interesting.
@Laura
Thats very interesting!
Although on the notifications I had many more than just 3 and it seems like they are not there now that it changed. Do we know why is that?
@Laura
Is there a reason the experts tab is called "advice" instead of "experts?"
I'm feeling confused because we specifically tell members this site isn't for advice and spend a lot of time in listener learning discussions emphasizing why advice is harmful.
@MonBon I didn't notice advice was used when Laura had updated this, just noticed it this morning. I agree, Advice is a odd choice. I think 'experts' isn't conveying what the link is for either though. 'Articles' 'Blog' or 'Pro Tips' would make it more apparent.
@AffyAvo
I agree, it's just the term I saw her use was Experts so was wondering where Advice came from.
Cool
@Laura
looks great
I was excited to see the navigation bar was getting an update since I've found this version to be very un-intuitive, but am disappointed to see that the forums are still not easily accessible from the navigation bar...hopefully the next round will focus on making core site elements easier to access - e.g., feed, forums - and using terms that a new user who doesn't know anything about 7 Cups will clearly know what to find where
@Laura
So glad to see the articles accessible from the navigation bar!
