November 1: Group Chat Sorting by last visited

Your chatroom list will now list the rooms in the order in which you last visited them. The room you visited most recently will appear at the top of your chatroom list!

We wnat to help you get into the rooms you like the most faster, with more ease and accesibility!

i think going by abc was quite easy because our brains are trained on sorting lists by abc for a long time. with the update we have to think more (may be just me 😊)

I'm not a fan of this new way, but maybe that's just because I'm not used to it. Its harder to go from chatroom to chatroom and keep who's in which chat straight in your head if you don't know the name of each chat. I personaly can't remember, but i did know which chat was where in the list and I could rememebr which chat people would be most likely to be on.

I'm ranting know and probably not making any sense. I'll try to keep an open mind, but so far, I'm not lovin it

I have not really gotten a chance to see this in action, but I do think that this is a change that doesn't need to be made.

I would greatly appreciate this update if we two things that come with it:

1) The ability to pin certain chats to the top of our list

2) the option to disable this feature altogether

As others have mentioned, this is an awesome update for most, but for people who like order, or who are moderators this can be very time consuming as well as confusing.

Just by muscle memory I don't even have to look at my monitor to get into X room, I am not too sure why this was added :\ I get that it's to improve navigation and to help people get to X with less hassle and faster, but I don't feel like it was a slow process in the first place. For mods who need to fly around rooms, this will be super confusing ;3

What about a user initiated "favorite" system instead of automatic? I think alphabetical works better to help people look for what they haven't already found and that's where people need the help more...Maybe list page could suggest a room based on keywords entered into a search field that also goes more than just the title of the group?

@CoinFountain - we are definitely planning to have a favorites list, yes... I hope that will help but still listening to the various way people use these lists to fin the best solution.

I was discussing this with Cris (@devteam) today and sharing how the change is not good for everyone and messes with some folks's habits and preferences and he had an interesting suggestion. He said, "What if instead of showing rooms in exact recent order, there was just an idea of recently visited - say in the last week - and those rooms would be at the top, alphabetically, and then the rest of the rooms would be after that, also alphabetically?"

This sounded interesting to me so I wanted to share the idea here and get feedback on it, especially from those for whom this recent change is most painful or annoying.

@KrinkTheMellowUnicorn

This sounds like a good idea to me! Would we clearlt signal where the lists change?

"rooms in last week"

"Rest of support rooms"

?

@Laura - yes we'd have to have some sort of divider or clear indicator for sure

@KrinkTheMellowUnicorn That sounds much better!

I would prefer the option to 'pin' things to the top, so it's my choice, but I wouldn't have a problem with what you've suggested.

Is there a way to 'turn off' this function? I get easily confused by it.
