I’ve learned that I do not
always have to be in control of every single thing and be such a perfectionist.
Sometimes it’s best to acknowledge what is truly within your control and not
let myself drive me crazy about the rest. 💜
@innateJoy9602
I really like how you see it, the desire for perfectionism leads to being overwhelmed and lost at one point. Focusing on what we can change and taking the rest "easy" sounds much more relaxing.
@innateJoy9602 Thank you for sharing this.
Yes, it is a Ok, not to be perfect.
It is ok, to make mistakes.
As I always say, "Learn from your mistakes and grow, from them."
See mistakes, as chances to grow and learn.
Be kind to yourself.
That things don't perturb me the way they used to. Like once upon a time I would feel insulted by angry behaviours or others towards me but that's a story of the past. I've grown within. I feel light not carrying that extra burden of others opinions. I'm on the path of being my own master.

- What is something that you have learned about yourself this year?
I am a person with routines. When I routinely judge myself or see my faults and what I did wrong, then I am miserable most of the time.
When I am concerned about others and helping them to the degree I am able, then I feel better about myself and have a more positive attitude.
@soulsings
Good thinking! Too much self criticism can destroy our happiness, helping others increases it.
@soulsings That is really interesting.
Thanks for sharing this.
I am so glad you enjoy, helping others.
I love to help others, when I am able to.
@calmMango9611 I can see you have a kind heart.
@soulsings You have a kind heart as well.
This year I learned that I can work to hard at times and put too much pressure on myself and that lead me into some bad places.
@reservedPark4029
I hope that you will be much gentler with yourself in future. Life is hard when you use your whole energy to achieve something, we all need breaks "to smell the roses".
@reservedPark4029 Try to be more gentle with yourself.
although I was not tagged on here I did want to respond to this. I have learned a ton this year via on this app with therapy and listeners. I have learned that my emotions aren’t always factual. They’re very real emotions and I feel them all the time but they don’t match reality. A great example is let’s say the world is ending tomorrow. Person A has no idea. What do they do? They just live like any other day. No stress. Nothing. Now let’s say the world will not end tomorrow. Person B is freaking out and feels like the world will end tomorrow. Does the world end? No. Does Person B act like it is? Yes. Does that mean their feelings are not real? No. But does that mean that the world is indeed ending tomorrow? Also no. So I just learned how to become more like person A and not person B. It’s helped a ton

Nice that you still joined this forum today to share your point of view which I find very helpful. Our thoughts determine greatly in what world we are living in, so being mindful with them and becoming aware when they go to a dark place. is very important to me.

Yes! I learnt that my heart is much stronger than I perceive and that I can live in spite of not being with the person I cared the most about. That life goes on and that I can over come just about anything if I keep looking ahead :)
@adaptableHouse7641
It takes a lot of strength to develop such an attitude. I'm glad that you realized that once you keep looking ahead life continues.
@adaptableHouse7641 Yes it is.
That I can be buried under a pile of issues and struggles that I can’t dig out of.
@Iamwhoiamwhoami
Something good to remind yourself of when the world feels like falling apart!
@amiablePeace77
Thank you as always for your kindness and support.
I am a little confused by your comment though. But no worries I’m confused a lot of the time anymore.
@Iamwhoiamwhoami
Thank you for coming back. I am so sorry to have misread your answer, I read "That I can be buried under a pile of issues and struggles that I can dig out of."
Life can become overwhelming and it is good to have support, friends to help you to dig out of the pile of issues and struggles. I hope 7cups is that support for you.
@amiablePeace77
No worries, I have been struggling understanding the simplest of things lately.
I actually thought my shaving gel was toothpaste this morning. Put it in my brush and yes I actually brushed my teeth with it. Wasn’t till I was done I realized I was a complete moron.
thank you for being so kind to me.
@Iamwhoiamwhoami I do not use shaving gel or I may have made that mistake too. No judgement needed.
@Iamwhoiamwhoami
These things can simply happen particularly when the mind has wandered off and we're not present. Time ago when I was still making all my cosmetic on my own I put facial wash cream into a pot and used it has face cream. When I put it on I ws wondering why it was so sticky until I realized it was wash cream not face cream 😀

I can't cope with grief and I can't accept people leave and die and life just keeps going
@ALeXaNdEr0712
Loss is the hardest thing to experience in life but also something that we all have to deal with. After loss life can change and we need time to readjust, to grieve and heal. I hope coming here will help you to cope better in future. Here is a link to our self help guide about grief https://www.7cups.com/grief/.
