Thanks Erinik for the great ideas on welcoming new starters!!! Although they are excited about getting started they probably a bit scared so remember to be patient and kind!! Don't forget there's no such thing as a stupid question, so remind them off that, just because we take stuff for granted now there was a time when we didn't!!!

Does welcoming only count in messages or does it also count to welcome them in the welcome thread because some I can't contact because they only talk to teens? @Erinik

Love welcoming new listeners in the chat rooms but often I'm on the fly n can't write down their names. I've also sent some pms to newbies to welcome them. I think forums posts will be next! :)

I love how the new listeners appreciate the welcome and the help we provide them.

The quality, the effort , and put into a (sample) welcoming message.

On my first few days i had to find things on my own, but it was okay i found them lol. i was really excited lol , i still am

But @JaceofSpades welcomed me by sending the Listeners faq in listeners support chat room and @ShadowFaerie did a great job welcoming me too if i needed resources and such

And now i realize the important of this

so we really know how to welcome listeners :-) and help them get started right way if they like to and feel supported and welcomed and part of the community and if they run into any troubles or do not know how to do something they know what to do or where to reach out.

I think it helps reduce stress or frustration or the feeling of new for too long maybe, and keeps the motivation and passion going

I've had a read of the process to gain clarity of the role of the Welcoming Committee and thought the following might prove an effective welcome message from me. What do you think?

Hi there (New Listener Name), Im Zed786 and I am thrilled to welcome you to the 7Cups Community and the Worldwide family of Active Listeners.

A little about me, by way of introduction. Im Zed a 47 year old male from Yorkshire, England. I have been an active listener here at 7Cups since 12th Dec 2015. I have in a career of 25 years, managed and directed public service delivery to some of Englands neighbourhoods, that were rated as the most deprived on the Indices of Multiple Deprivation. In this time, I have always striven to support many of the most vulnerable citizens, to achieve a greater level of well-being. The focus being to act as a Social Landlord enabler, supporting citizens to access Information, Advice and Guidance, so that they may better be helped to help themselves move forward in life. I am heartened to say that 7Cups missions align perfectly with my personal ‘purpose of my life objectives.

I appreciate that your early days here, will present you with, a new learning curve to self-manage. To support you in this essential task, I am pleased to be able to share with you some resources, that as a new Listener you may invariably need:
