🌿 Mental Health Check-In 🌿
╚══════ஓ๑♡๑ஓ══════╝

Hi everyone ♡

For those who haven’t met me yet, I’m one of the listeners here on 7 Cups. I’ve been listening for years now, and I try my best to create a space where people feel safe, heard, supported, and never judged. My listening style is very calm, caring, and understanding whether you need advice, comfort, distraction, or just someone to sit with you while things feel heavy.

🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸

Mental health can be such a complicated thing sometimes. Some days we feel okay, motivated, and hopeful. Other days even getting out of bed or replying to messages can feel exhausting. Emotions can change so quickly, and it’s easy to feel alone in them especially when we’re used to hiding how we truly feel.

But the truth is, being honest about our emotions matters. Talking about anxiety, sadness, stress, anger, numbness, overwhelm, or even feeling completely lost is important. We are human beings, and humans are meant to feel things. You don’t have to pretend you’re okay all the time.

🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸

So here’s today’s check-in question:

💭 On a scale of “doing okay” to “barely surviving”… where are you today?

You can explain your answer, keep it short, use emojis, or just say a number. No pressure at all ♡

And as always, my PMs are open if anyone needs someone to talk to, vent to, or simply sit with for a while. You are never a burden here. 🌱

I've been struggling for the last couple of weeks with a friendship. Bless her she went out of her way to surprise me and join me for a coffee in her way to an interview and talked things through. She said she was taking advantage of one of her better days (she suffers from schizophrenia) to make sure I know how much she values my friendship even if she dies occasionally spurn me. Definitely feeling a more positive, she wasn't aware that I a struggle this time of the year as it is the anniversaries of both parents passing, 22nd & 30th May in 2017, in which was the worst year of my life suffering a 2nd pulmonary embolism in the November too.

@RunningMachine

Thank you for sharing this with us. 💜

It sounds like that coffee and conversation meant a lot. The fact that your friend used one of her better days to make sure you knew how much she values your friendship says so much about how much she cares. It also sounds like talking things through helped bring some understanding to both sides.

At the same time, it's completely understandable that you've been struggling. The anniversaries of both of your parents' passing, alongside memories of such a difficult year, carry a lot of grief and emotion. Sometimes these dates affect us more deeply than we realize.

I'm glad you're feeling a little more positive after speaking with her. It sounds like there was a lot of care, understanding, and reassurance in that meeting. Be gentle with yourself as you move through the rest of this month. 💜

Sending you warmth and support. 🌷

For the past week, I had actually been doing well. I kept wondering why I suddenly felt happy, and somehow I even felt guilty for being happy.

But now… I’m back to feeling like myself again (: deeply lonely, wanting connection, yet terrified of getting close to anyone and also i dorn want to interact with anyone. idk want type loneliness is this ?!

I’ve always been there for other people, but now that I need someone to be there for me, but then I realized I’m completely alone after all xD. Lol maybe I’ve always been this way. I don’t blame anyone else for it honestly... like it's me, I’m the problem here :)

On top of that, I’m dealing with health issues too. It’s been breaking me down little by little. I keep living with the pain and pushing myself to keep going, but people act like I’m being dramatic or pretending that I’m hurting. That honestly hurts even more cus, the pain I am going through is real and unbearable. just because i am an enthusiastic, smile, make people engaged and laugh doesn't mean i am going through things. I am human after all.

I’m still hopeful, optimistic but at the same time, I feel exhausted and overwhelmed, like I can’t carry all of this much longer but i also I know that I will ❤️

I relate to this a lot—being there for others but wanting to handle everything on my own. Somehow even when I’ve surrounded myself with people, I’ve managed to isolate myself too

I'm sorry to hear that you've experienced something similar. It's very lonely and draining to feel this way. Regardless, our efforts ultimately go unappreciated and discouraged. depressing truth.

@AiluraTheCat

What you're describing sounds incredibly heavy to carry. Sometimes loneliness isn't simply wanting people around it can be wanting connection while also feeling exhausted, guarded, or afraid of being vulnerable. That push-and-pull of "I want someone close, but I also don't want to interact with anyone" is something many people experience when they're overwhelmed or hurting.

I also noticed that you called yourself "the problem." Gently, I wonder if that's being a little too hard on yourself. From what you've shared, it sounds less like you're the problem and more like you've been carrying a lot on your own for a very long time.

And regarding your health struggles pain doesn't become any less real because you're smiling, making jokes, or helping others laugh. People often assume that those who appear strong or positive must be doing okay, but that's simply not true. You can be kind, enthusiastic, hopeful, and still be hurting deeply at the same time.

What stands out to me is that despite everything, your hope is still there. Even in the middle of feeling lonely, exhausted, and overwhelmed, a part of you still believes you'll keep going. That takes a tremendous amount of strength.

For now, please know that your pain matters, your feelings are valid, and you don't have to carry all of this alone here. We're listening. 💜🌷

I always struggle to answer these types of things. Because I’m so often able to focus on the good or distract myself with things I enjoy. But I’m also recognizing I’ve used distractions, even sometimes healthy distractions, to hide from real problems.

So a lot of times I would say I’m doing ok or even that I’m doing great and perfectly fine. But the reality is, I’ve come to hate times of isolation, because I’m anything but fine. So I don’t really know where I fall in this, whether I’m doing ok with periods of melancholy. Or if I’m hurting and just burying the pain. But I think whichever it is, I’m finally starting to see that things are not as good as they could be.

@BerenTinuviel im also feeling this as well. i am very good at turning away and avoiding that the bad days become so much worse than they should be.

I would say that I should just be a "meh", but instead it's just a really rough one, because i avoided everything.

@BerenTinuviel

thank you so much for sharing : )

What stood out to me is the self-awareness in your post. It takes a lot of courage to recognize that even healthy distractions can sometimes become ways of avoiding pain rather than processing it.

I can relate to what you're describing about not knowing how to answer these kinds of questions. Sometimes we're doing well in some areas while also carrying hurts that only become noticeable when things get quiet. That can make it difficult to know whether we're genuinely okay or simply very good at keeping ourselves busy.

The fact that you are beginning to notice and acknowledge those feelings doesn't mean you're doing worse it may actually mean you're allowing yourself to see things more honestly. And that honesty can be uncomfortable, especially when it reveals loneliness, sadness, or unmet needs that have been sitting beneath the surface for a long time.

Whatever label you put on it periods of melancholy, buried pain, or something in between it sounds like you're giving yourself permission to look inward instead of immediately pushing those feelings away. That's not easy work.

Thank you for sharing such a thoughtful reflection with us. I hope you continue to show yourself the same compassion and understanding that you've shown others. 🌷💜

I just finished my school year

Tw ‼️ sh, suicide

But I'm rlly struggling overall. My (abusive) father recently ended his life and my relationship with my mom isn't the greatest due to her opinions on his huge huge mistakes that led him to be removed by police from our home. I've also been struggling with self harming. I'm just trying to keep my head up, really. I do have great friends IRL and I hang out with them a lot

@pinkiepie1724

First, I want to acknowledge how much you've been carrying. Finishing a school year is a big transition on its own, but you're also coping with the loss of your father, the complicated feelings that can come with an abusive relationship, tension with your mom, and struggles with self-harm. That's an enormous amount for one person to navigate.

Something that stood out to me is that you're still trying to keep your head up despite everything. That doesn't mean you aren't hurting it means you're continuing forward even while carrying a lot of pain.

I'm also really glad to hear that you have supportive friends and that you're spending time with them. Having people you trust and feel connected to can make such a difference during difficult times. Please continue leaning on those supports when you can.

At the same time, I'm concerned to hear that you've been struggling with self-harm. You don't have to manage that alone. If there is a trusted adult, counselor, therapist, school support person, or crisis resource available to you, I hope you'll consider reaching out. You deserve support with what you're going through. We also have listeners here if you ever need a chat.

For now, please be gentle with yourself. Grief, especially when the relationship was complicated, can bring up many different emotions all at once. Whatever you're feeling right now, you're welcome to share it here. 💜

I feel like I’m barely surviving. There’s little glimmers of “doing okay” but when I’m honest with myself I’m really not okay truthfully. I just don’t let anyone see that
