This site trains listeners not to give advice, but in Q&A I feel these kind of questions from people are usually looking for opinionated advice. Just know these are questions that may or may not be the right answer for you. It is your duty to read them and assess your situation and see if it may be an option. This is my opinion on the facts you just stated. Let your boyfriend have his space, but first let him know how you feel. Also let him know that you respect his decision. Ask if you can still stand by him as a friend if you still wish to do so. This break up was not your fault, as he stated, it was because he felt like something was missing. There must be a good reason he did not want to talk about it and work it out with you. I would not try to pry on his privacy, if he does not seem like he will open up. The most important thing is to let him know how you still feel, if you still love/care of him, etc. But also respecting his decision and letting him go.
