Communication is the key to any relationship....I think you should talk it out with him with utmost transparency....so that both of you are clear as to what the other person wants out of this relationship and how serious he/she is about taking it forward... It is extremely important for both the partners to be on the same page and be aware of what the relationship means to each of you. For a long term relationship it's necessary for both the partners to be equally willing to put in efforts from their respective sides to make the relationship work...and to ensure this...the two of you must put forth your point of views for the other one to know.
