What's worked with me in the past is asking to have a ~civilized~ talk with him to figure out how wow the both of us can be sure not to make each other upset. For us, it was mainly miscommunication and the fact that he had set certain expectations for me that I did not even know existed. Once we started talking about things we got better at getting through arguments without yelling or saying things that hurt the other person. Also, at times when nothing was working, I found it useful to distance myself or keep myself busy with other things so we're not dealing with each other all the time. I hope this helps and I hope things get better between you and your father!
