Hi ! Im 47 years old, recently seperated from a 25 year emotionaly abusive marriage. Finding self again, but also feeling very isolated in the social world. Job and scedule dont allow much time to interact with social groups my age, so Im spending alot of time alone. ( not alone here!! ) Thanks everyone for posting!!!! smiley

Hi, i'm 44 and like so many posts i've read here, I'm struggling a bit with life. But I'm conciously trying to be proactive in fixing things to rebuild my life and me after a breakup with a total narcissit which almost broke me. I'm looking forward to support from you lot and am willing to provide support to anyone who wants it :)

@kitty54

You are not alone, in trying to start a new life after emotional abuse from a narcissist !!

I feel you !!! frown

It has been a hard road for me too!! Recently separated from a 25 year marriage, and realizing that I have no social life, family is non-supportive, and am starting from ground zero financially as well !!

Please feel free to reach out to me, I would love to offer support and advise to someone who needs it !!! smiley

@laurenfay thanks so much. What I am realising is that there are so many of "us" out there..... Why are we not talking? It is so great not to be alone (althougth it is not what I would wish for anyone) You WILL BE OK..... I will be ok too. just sometimes it is difficult to envisage that. but believe it. I'm here anytime for you :) (assuming I'm online lol) big hugs to you

@feelitinyourbones ok your in too :) We are all going to be ok, No, scrap that, We are going to be fabulous, RIGHT..... it's so hard, but it is so worth it in the long run. We are playing a long game to happiness, true personal success and independance. And remember to hang onto that independance in whatever relationship we end up in, no more bullying, no more codependancy....

@laurenfay. don't be fooled by the positivity, only half of it is real. the other half is faking it till I make it..... But each day I force a smile gets easier. They have got enough of us great women, it is shite, it is lonely, it is difficult, but sure if is worth having, it's worth fighting for. I'm fighting for my future, the one I deserve, with a real man, not the fraud I landed myself with..... I might see if i can figure out how to start a new thread and link a few of you who have posted back to. Like a little starter support group....

@laurenfay Hi im new to this, but it's sadly comforting to know there's other people out there going through the same if not worse than me. I separated from a narcissist whom I endured for 20 years till my replacement in January and it still hurts. I've met a lovely guy who's 17 years older than me but I'm not sure what I'm doing , I don't know myself anymore. He was in a 21 year marriage and split 7 years ago , I'm not sure if he sees me as a toy or trophy girl friend which scares me. Im 43 with no kids, my job is ok it pays the bills. I just wish I knew what path to take. Thanks for listening. Good luck xxx

I am 43

I am perimenopausal (Maybe too much info, but relevant to this age group).

I find older people inspirational.

I find younger people possess amazing wisdom.

@HumanEars

47 and I'm dealing with premenopause too, it sucks!! So I hear ya !! frown

I find older people to be inspirational too, unfortunately the younger people that I am exposed to now seem to be all wrapped up in their own dramas to really take me seriously, so I struggle to connect with them. I have met some amazingly wise people who are 65-70 years old, great has friendships, but not as a partner/romantic relationship.

Best of luck to you!!

Hi...I am 43 years old and am here to help with my needs for peer interraction and coping skills. I deal with DID and bipolar disorder so I am honestly a social mess...completely isolated most of the time. My doctor recommended that I take part in some online groups for social interraction with people who are going through similar situations. It is nice to meet you all.

@HappyDucky8 We're all defective, but it's possible to get over (at least some of ) it.

Is there anything in particular you'd be willing to share about your feelings?

@HappyDucky8 I know how this feels.i am broken

User Profile: strobelight1111
strobelight1111 November 16th, 2019

@HappyDucky8

Why do you believe youre broken?

I have the same thoughts sometimes but from a perspective of your soul & spirit we are all perfect just the way we are. Its society, our upbringing, etc thats make us gradually believe otherwise. That pesky monologue in your head is the result of years of poor conditioning. But its not true!
