FREEDOM.

Mental. Physical. Emotional.

It's said that at the end of each year, you should decide on one word to represent what you want the year ahead of you to represent. 

That word is a guiding star in your life. Using it to make decisions, to stay committed, to return to when you are feeling mis-led or distracted.

For us in 2024, it's FREEDOM. 

Freedom to grow, freedom to heal, freedom to own who we are and grow into the best possible version of ourselves. Freedom to demand a life we deserve and freedom to make it happen.

It's time to experience freedom like never before. Freedom from limiting beliefs, freedom to live big, bold, strong, and determined. The best part of all of this is that we already HAVE that freedom - we just have to get it into motion. 

Along with this will come heightened physical, emotional and mental wellness, and an elevation in our LIVES.

2024: New Year, Best Year

How does it relate to your path forward? 

I want to be productive at something, to feel like I'm accomplishing something, and making progress in my recovery.

What are three ways to be kind to yourself?? 

Keep going to therapy, try to be healthier, and I can't think of a third.

My mind is spinning.  My car was shot and is in the garage needing big repairs that I can  barely afford.  I am very poor.  I'll make it work though.  I am in shock.  

I wish I had the mental clarity to respond to your questions in your post but I do not.  I will try to keep in touch

If you have to pick one WORD for 2024 to focus on what would it be? 

Me.  I have been so focused on caring and worrying and doing for everyone else that I have lost a lot of me.

How does it relate to your path forward? 

It's so important for me this year to learn how to take care of myself first.  I've lost myself in the worry and stress I have for others.  I need to put that oxygen mask back on me first before I can support others.

What are three ways to be kind to yourself??

1. Keep reminding myself that everyone has problems, and I cannot solve them.  I can only solve my own.  I can be there for support, but it's not my job to solve.

2. Go out to nature every single day, no matter what the weather, no matter how busy.  Even for a few minutes.  Always find time for grounding in nature.

3. Always remember that I have people who love and support me.  I have people to reach out to.  I am not alone.

At the suggestion of some of my favorite radio on-air persons, I have thought of 'a word for the year' for each of the last 4 or 5 years!  In December, I began to think of what I wanted to use for my word for the next year.  I have decided to use 

Character 

as my word for 2024.  I've only done a small amount of research on this word and what it could mean for me in this year.  I hope to learn more about what character means to other people and what others might say are their top "most important character traits" for themselves but also character traits when looking for a friend.

My Goals with this Word of 2024: (First draft!  a definite work in progress.)

To build my character toward something that even just *I* myself respect more,

To build toward what I know that God wants for me and

To learn more about characteristics that are already important to me and which character traits I could work on for spiritual-growth and growing in faith.  #Priceless  #Fireproof  #Overcomer

My word for 2024 would be "dread":

The good news is - I have recovered from my ordeals with breast cancer, a sudden autoimmune disorder, and "chemo gut" - where a steroid in a chemo formula causes your stomach to increase in size. My gut got so large I couldn't wear my clothes and I looked bizarre, so I had to stay home nearly all of the time.

Last year, near the end of the year, I was dealing with the autoimmune disorder (which developed into diverticulitis) and the gut problem. This year, thyroid medicine has reduced the gut, and I feel much better. But now...I have to find a new job. I lost my last one due to having to stay away so long because of the cancer, and the isolation because of fear of COVID. Now I have to find a new one, because my medical issues (and a prior layoff) reduced my savings drastically. I will never be able to retire. 

So it's drudge until I die, I guess. I dread 2024. I see only bleakness ahead.
