Hello Personality Disorders Subcommunity,
This is to announce that considering the recent concerns raised by our members and leaders we have updated our subcommunity guidelines, which can be found here:

As per the updated guidelines we will be dissolving the section "Dealing with Narcissistic Abuse" and making several edits and updates to our forum posts.
We hope our subcommunity supports our efforts by being mindful of these guidelines.
On behalf of our community I would like to thank @CheeryMango and @QuietMagic for their support and help in drafting these guidelines, @LuluRings for their guidance and @AffyAvo, thank you for starting conversation surrounding this topic, your insights are much appreciated.
We would also like to thank every subcommunity member who has proactively reached out and given feedback on many necessary pointers, your insights and feedback are valuable.

Very good idea!! That could only be hurtful to sufferers of that mental disorder that has to cause them pain enough. They don’t need a section dedicated to slandering them… it’s Like I feel reading about how people writing in to Quora , always say pw borderline personality disorder ruined their lives. How awful we all are. But my truth….. I’m textbook borderline personality but I’m an empath. I’m sensitive and caring to all people. Forgiving except to myself. The negatives only stay inside of me and everyone else gets the best of me . I feel others pain and take on some of it.

Agrees ♥
@Xe
Thank you for these changes and this update!
The new guidelines look great! What's the plan for the abuse threads or is that still being sorted out?
@AffyAvo
I believe they would be moved to Trauma Support based on the following:
Guidelines on Trauma and Abuse related content.
Please use the Trauma Support Subcommunity as it is more fitting to get support for abuse related issues.
Does that mean that in personality disorder forums, we can talk about symptoms and Various treatments but not about why it continues to exist in new victims? A community for personality disorders needs a space to share the reason these disorders are growing more notorious and in more children everyday. A small child got so damaged and broken by their protector… damage that consistently causes horrific pain and a search for a place or person they can connect to and feel safe, that they will never find….The pdcommunity needs to be tbe last stop this once young child should make. To heal, we must encourage each other and each newbie victim to talk about what caused this disorder to develop or we will never stop it from stealing all that makes a life worth living. If I’m wrong I’m sorry for any hurt I am causing. We have had enough separation in our lives and we need space in our own community to share what created tbat torture in our life.
@kindTurtle3738
I think that would be absolutely fine and within the scope of the community for someone to discuss personal history, past experiences, risk factors contributing to PDs.
What we're mainly trying to address (and what I understood by @AffyAvo referring to "the abuse threads") is we want to avoid threads along the lines of "Help, my spouse has a PD and they are being abusive to me and [says a bunch of stigmatizing/negative/generalizing things about people with that PD]".
What initiated the guideline changes is that it was pointed out that many of the threads in the NPD subforum were complaining about NPD sufferers, so it was a really unsupportive place for people actually seeking help with NPD. The guidelines weren't clear on whether these types of posts were allowed, so we didn't have a strong enough basis to be able to edit/delete/move those kinds of posts. The goal of the new guidelines is to address things like that and generally make sure that the space is catering to the needs of people with PDs.
Let me know if that makes sense and answers your question.
I understand now. I didn’t know the threads were regarding that type of abuse. I totally agreed about the narcissist issues too. Who needs a place that others can make someone with a disorder feel even worse. I’m glad about the changes. I’m glad to be wrong about what we can share in pd community:). It really nice have the leaders and mentors in our community. I normally would not have been comfortable enough to say anything I was confused about. But I don’t mind bothering any of you ! Lol. JJ
@kindTurtle3738
Thanks for asking! And glad you felt comfortable saying something and asking.
The feedback/questions are helpful. The whole reason this guideline change happened in the first place was because people were willing to look at what was happening and say, "This seems really wrong and like it's harmful to people. Please fix this." 💜
@kindTurtle3738
As QuiteMagic has clarified, those with PD's are absolutely welcome to share their experiences related to abuse, trauma, triggers, causes under these guidelines.
The abuse threads Affy mentioned are only for the threads which frame people with PD as abusers.
Thank you for bringing this up and helping us shed some light and clarity on the issue ^^ absolutely agree with everything you've pointed out ❤ we hope to foster deeper connections in our community by making it a safe space. Always welcome your feedback.
Thank you for helping clear that up for me. The world is almost back on its axis :))) I appreciate all that you do. You all really make things not feel so bad and offer so many distractions that I really appreciate!!!
@QuietMagic @Xe Thans for explaining that well.
@kindTurtle3738 Sorry for the confusion. Some of the threads were filtered out as they weren't supportive to this area and that new section has been renamed and discussed where to stick it. I just really shortened what we referring to those threads as, people who were aware of the previous discussions knew what I was referring to, but I didn't mean to exclude others with my question. I didn't mean to imply any thread in this area that mentions abuse should be moved!
Just to close the loop on this: as of today, we have finished the forum cleaning mentioned in the original post.
- The "Dealing with Narcissistic Abuse" section has been dissolved.
- We have finished reviewing the entire subcommunity for forum posts in need of editing and have made updates as needed.
