Weekly Prompt #18: What are your main sources of stress in your life?
Hello everyone, I hope you are all being easy on yourself this week.
A couple of weeks ago we discussed: Are there any particular thoughts or worries that frequently occupy your mind? Thank you to all who participated and shared their thoughts for discussion. I enjoyed them. I hope you all did too. If you didn't share yours, please share them here and I look forward to reading and discussing them with you.
This week's prompt: What are your main sources of stress in your life?
This week I want us to reflect and explore this topic that can help us understand and explore the sources of our stress. Please take a moment to identify the areas that are causing you the most stress. Let's get started and all thoughts are welcomed!
Note: A helpful tip from @hope : "I recommend the book 'How to stop worrying and start living'. You can find the audiobook on YouTube"

@Disneywoman Coordinating the meal schedule this week is bringing up feelings of uncertainty and worry. Reflecting on everyone's commitments and preferences, how can you honor your role while still finding flexibility?
@ASilentObserver It just I wish Dad could have sis's appointment for like next Wednesday so it doesn't wreck up my cooking schedule instead of this Friday instead when it does wreck up my cooking schedule.
@ASilentObserver
update: Mom actually realized last night to listen to what I mentioned a couple of days ago about we (Her/I) might be too full for Asian food tomorrow after the potluck lunch so I'm cooking on Sunday IF it doesn't turn into a free-for-all tomorrow- and Mom's making the Asian food tonight.

I am litereally facepalming due to supper. I don't have a clue what Dad thought we're having but it wasn't what he though it was. I went downstairs to pour drinks for supper and I saw baked beans and bowls on the table and I guess Dad thought we're having quiche but I knew we were having meatloaf, scallop potatoes and peas.
So after I finished doing the drinks- I went and asked Dad if he really wanted baked beans with supper because it was meatloaf, scallop potatoes and peas and when he found out what it was he told me to put the baked beans away in the fridge.
supper being major screwed up this week. My sister, Luna is down to get her tires changed from summer to winter and also to get her car oil sprayed. Because we don't know if my sister will be here tomorrow night or not- I might not be cooking this week -so I had hoped that I would still be able to have a fend-for-myself supper tonight like usually but apperently that's not going to be the blasted case.
My sister "volunteered" to make Her, Dad and I something (the "something is yet to be determined) so that majory screws up my already screwed up meal schedule for this week since I had my heart set on having ramyoen (Japanese: Ramen) for supper tonight because I can't have the "full pot of rameyon" for lunch tomorrow because when I have ramyeon for lunch I put 0 veggies in (because of having a bowl of fruit in about at least 2 -2.5 hours from lunch time) vs having Ramenyeon for supper- I have a pot full of veggies-peppers, zucchini, carrot and last time I had mushrooms as well in the pot.
I mean yeah my sister food is good. I have had it many times before. I mean if you want to know how good Luna's cooking is let's just say other people litereally pay her to cook for them including her own friend "Andy" (not actual name).
But can't I have one thing normal on a week that s really messed up? Mom has for Sunday for us to have frittters, and Korean veggies but since she and I are attending a potluck after church I'm 100% convinced we will be too full to have Asian supper
@Disneywoman It seems like mix up with dinner plans added to the frustrations of an already challenging week. Not having control over your meal schedule can feel unsettling. You care deeply about cooking and seem disappointed not to have your planned ramen tonight. Your sister's cooking is appreciated, though a home cooked meal of your choosing might have brought some comfort. I'm here to listen without judgment as you work through what's on your mind. Your feelings are valid and understandable.
@ASilentObserver we had a semi-tacco salad but it didn't have enough veggies only spuanch and corn were the only veggies vs. if I had made my own supper or had made Taco salad myself:
Rameyon:
Peppers
Zunchi
carrot
and maybe mushrooms
Taco Salad (For Dad and I):
onion, Peppers and Zunchi cooked+ uncooked lettuce, cucumber and carrot
( salad would be mostly the same for my sister except for the carrot)
I’m in a 6 year relationship with a guy I absolutely adore. Through the pandemic he lost his job (2019) and has not worked since.
i am diagnosed with depression and anxiety several years back. I see so many signs of depression in him.
I want him to seek help and have gently mentioned this to him before. Although he is not receptive.
currently so much responsibility is falling on my place, significantly our financial situation (which is really not good). I only work a part time job and have been struggling finding other work for some time.
I am 29 and really feel I am ready to start a family but just cannot envision how it would work. I am already so overwhelmed with the day to day tasks, responsibilities and financial situation. How can we possibly add a baby to the mix?
I am worried if we wait too long, I won’t be able to have my own child.
I want it to work with him, but feel so stuck.
@EmpatheticEcho I can understand how difficult and stressful this situation must feel. Wanting to start a family while also carrying so much responsibility already is a heavy burden. Your care for your partner's well-being and your desire to support the relationship speaks to your compassionate nature.
Finances. I don't work paycheque to paycheque, I work overdraft to overdraft (due to debt), increased living costs. If it weren't for a modest overdraft, I would have been homeless years ago. A vicious cycle I try to chip away at. I try to keep positive by telling myself that I have air in my lungs, roof over my head.
@CaringSub I can understand. Financial stress has weighed heavily on you for some time. Maintaining hope while facing challenges day after day requires true strength of character. Also I believe you have demonstrated resilience in caring for your basic needs - that alone is an accomplishment to feel proud of. What helps you retain your optimism provide some small relief, even for a moment?
@ASilentObserver
The biggest thing would probably be my parents, whom I love but I feel like they rely on me way too much. I don't ask for their help, attention, care, or even love. Yet, they call me for every little thing that sometimes isn't even my job as a child. I feel responsible for not only their well-being but the well-being of my entire family and that's really been stressing me out.
@JollyRacher It sounds like you are experiencing a lot of stress from feeling responsible for your family's well-being. That's a heavy burden to carry. You must feel quite overwhelmed at times. It is understandable to want independence as you grow into adulthood. Your feelings are valid. How does it make you feel to have that level of responsibility?
The main source of stress right now is my semester end exams and projects. I'm a software engineering student. Constantly overwhelmed and exhausted 😔
Managing two households since my separation. I have my eldest and my ex has our youngest. But, I'm still mommy manager and have to make sure certain things happen. So, it's a lot of coordinating and covering expenses, where he is not able.
@marigoldens Managing two households does sound like a lot to coordinate. It is understandable that you feel busy making sure certain things happen. You are dedicated to supporting your children during this transition. How are you managing your responsibilities while also taking care of your own needs?
