I have lived so many lifetimes,
And I could have stayed in any given one.
I could lay there forever,
And maybe most people would.
By now, I have the memories,
But I can barely remember who I was in them.
It's not repression or forgetfulness,
And it took so, so very long,
But I'm finally bored of looking at those scars.
It's not a matter of what they are or were,
And maybe sometimes someone needs to see one,
But it's more about what I can do with them.
What I'm ready to build, ready to become.
And I still don't know what all of it is,
Part of it shows now and then,
Each little part of what I'm capable of now,
Is so much more interesting,
Than all of the things that pushed me here.
@Torean
"But I'm finally bored of looking at those scars.
It's not a matter of what they are or were,
And maybe sometimes someone needs to see one,
But it's more about what I can do with them." - Amazing and inspirational, you have a very creative way with words. This connects really well with a favorite quote of mine: "You may not control all of the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them" (by the late Maya Angelou). Thank you for participating this week 💙
@Clarisse29
Reality
You expressed feelings for her
She reciprocated
Unknown to you both
I was catching feelings for you too
Mixed signals
Clarity
Ripping off the band aid
Trying to be friends
Maybe I needed more time?
You need convincing to come over
You do not want to see me
You don’t look at me
Tension, Awkwardness
How do I be friends?
Try not make eye contact
Don’t tease him yet
Just watch the movie
Remember to breathe
This will get better with time?
This has to get better with time.
Escape to the bathroom
Deep breaths
What are the others feeling?
Try to be normal.
What is my normal?
How do I act.
Don’t look at him you are just friends
Just watch the movie.
Heart racing
Self-soothing
Anxiety.
This has to get better
Let it go
Meditation
Peace
Anxiety
What if it was reverse?
Reverse
You have feelings for me
I have feelings for you
You want to date
Am I ready?
What about when I leave?
Will this even work?
Why do you like me?
Why me? She is so much better.
I don’t know if I can do this
Things will go wrong
Will we work as a couple?
Are we better as friends?
What is expected of me now?
This will pull my focus from school.
What if I fail because of this distraction?
We could be great,
Doesn’t mean we will be.
It will be a new experience
I will learn
How do I do this?
Anxiety
Excitement
Anxiety
Both ways
Anxiety
Overthinking
Managing new expectations
Fear
Let go of the fear
Invite in hope
Let go of insecurity
Invite in confidence
Be yourself
Time creates a new normal
Wow @neverendingRainbow489 , this was very good. I can feel the emotion in the words and its really cool and creative how you made a "reverse" and "both ways" point of you. It's was a treat to read your writing, it reminds me of a scene in a romance novel or movie 😌
Thank you!
@Clarisse29 @SirenOfSerenity
Hi is nice you do this for people to write things i am not good at writing but that’s ok every one does this will do great job !!
Thank you @theboymoana ! 😄
@Clarisse29
the words you said hurt
stung like a bee sting
like the frostbite from a cold winter day
and for a while, they changed me
they made an imprint in my heart
burned deep
no repair
broken until i find myself
until i start to care
but then i learn, mending the broken pieces isnt an easy job
i separate myself
telling myself, i just need time
turns out i was right
the frostbite melted
the bee sting healed
i am myself
you mean nothing anymore
you are nothing but a memory
as i have healed
@mysteriousClover Wow, reading this was so relatable that I actually felt a wave a of relief and peace after reading it. This is something I'll definitely return back to when I need a reminder that "time heals all wounds" (I can't remember who or where I heard that quote but it fits your writing!)
Thank you for participating 🌷
@SirenOfSerenity
im glad you like it- ive actually never really written a poem before, so your response makes me feel really good about it
@mysteriousClover no one would know you've never written a poem before, it's lovely. Such a great job!
I agree with @InvaderStitch !
@Clarisse29
I want to be tagged for more prompts.
@WharfRat Added! 😊
Not sure if this counts as free verse, but here we go...
Patches of the pain whisper
Shadows of the dark chase
Horrors of the past paralyse
Pursue of freedom
Shield of conviction and the
Hoot of the warriors,
"I am what I choose to become."
@ouiCherie Very moving, and creative Cherie 🤍
"I am not what happened to me. I am what I choose to become." - Carl Jung
Often society uses labels... We use labels like "stupid" "cool" "silly" or whatever. But remember no one can tell you who you are. Only you choose who you wanna be. You are your own star. You shine. And you cant let anyone define you. You get to choose what you wanna do and who you wanna be. You don't have to do what everyone else tells you.
