(Archived/Outdated) Introducing: Community Moderator of the Month
Note: This initiative is no longer active. If you'd like to shoutout to a Community Mod, you can use this form!
Hello everyone, I hope you are all doing well.
I am excited to announce the Community Moderator of the Month. The idea was brought by @VictoriaLove7 who put a lot of effort into its structure. She is also working with Group Support Ambassador @BrilliantTurtle89 to develop an appreciation and recognition initiative for our Community centered and Global moderators.
Purpose: The purpose of the Community Moderator of the Month Program is to recognize community moderators who have performed their duties in an exceptional manner by exemplifying outstanding service through their work and exhibiting a supportive and firm attitude.
I) Attitude and Commitment
- Demonstrates skills in maintaining a supportive and safe atmosphere in group chats that they manage
- Demonstrate the willingness to remind users to use chat rooms/support rooms appropriately. For example, MCR for light-hearted chats, Support rooms for support purpose only, Sharing Circle Room for structured sharing time.
- Perform duties diligently
- Be present in support rooms during their shift to maintain safe atmosphere
- Consistently dependable to mod-related emergencies
II) Interpersonal Skills
- Displays a helpful, cooperative attitude toward volunteers
- Uses the elective listening skills
III) Work Performance
- Knowledgeable of Cups rules and guidelines
- Responsiveness to pm that are related to room safety and emergency
- Willingness to take action and be firm towards users who potentially create conflicts
- Intuitive skills to judge a situation in support rooms
- Takes initiative to maintain a supportive state in our group chats
IV) Personal Traits
- Maintains a professional demeanor in communicating in group chats
- Conscientious, honest, hard-working
- Integrity on the job
Criteria:
Nominees will be selected on a point system. Each criteria standard has a point value (as denoted above).
Who can nominate?
- Users (members and listeners) who have been active in Cups for at least 3 months can nominate a community moderator by filling out and submitting a nomination form.
-
Users should have had no behavior reports in the past 3 months.
Where can we get the form?
Click here to save/ bookmark the form
What the Nominators (Users of Cups) Should Do to Nominate a Community Moderator?
- Nominators should keep in mind the criteria and write the nomination accordingly.
- When asked why a community moderator is deserving of the award, elaborate on your response and give specific examples.
- Give thorough descriptions in words of how the community moderator met each of the criteria.
Nomination Evaluation
- All the submissions will be reviewed monthly to decide on Community Mod of the Month.
- Each nomination will be graded according to the previously-stated criteria and the points tallied to determine the nominee’s overall score.
- The highest-scoring nominee will be considered for the award.
- One of the key points in evaluating the nominee is the thorough description in the form of statements/arguments from the nominator(s) (see part “B. What should nominators do to nominate a community moderator” point #2 and #3)
- The same moderator will not be nominated for consecutive 3 months.
Selection of the Recipient of Community Moderator of the Month
Once the selection has been finalized, the community moderator will receive a certificate and a badge on their profile.
All thoughts and feedback are welcomed and much appreciated. Thank you for being with us.
@ASilentObserver
Thank you, Obs for your support and thoughtful feedback on the initial drafts of this CCM program.
Thank you also to @GlenM and @Heather225 for your support for this CCM program.
Community Moderator of the Month Program is a token of gratitude for our community moderators who go above and beyond in their efforts to keep a conducive atmosphere in our chat rooms/support rooms.
Looking forward to seeing 7 Cups amazing com mods get their well-deserved recognitions! ✨
Yayyy! @ASilentObserver @brilliantturtle89 and everyone involved!
Thankyou for seeking the feedback and suggestion from @VictoriaLove7 and for working on implementing this wonderful idea to recognize our amazing community moderators! ❤
Couple of questions/ observations/ suggestions:
1. Does the form have space for volunteer mod recognition also? (For example: The post mentions "recognition initiative for our Community centered and Global moderators." ~ "global" here means volunteer global moderators? Or only community centered Mods, so maybe to avoid confusion "global" could be removed)
2. Under the "who can nominate" part, the second point is "Users should have had no behavior reports in the past 3 months." But in the form the question about the username of the nominator isn't made mandatory, so how would it be possible to assess if a username has had behaviour reports or no, if a user wants to remain anonymous in the form? (Or would the particular user be aware and be willing to keep that in mind while filling the form?)
3. A teeny idea, on selecting the name of the com mod from the drop down list, would it help to provide some space if someone selects the "other, if missed any" option, in case the com mod's name isn't in the list already?
4. Maybe somewhere in the form, the Feedback form for Community Moderators could be linked as well, in case someone is looking to share any constructive feedback, they could use a more appropriate form/ channel for it!
5. Could this form be linked in the chatroom rules also?😮 Might be a quicker place to find it!
Having said that, This is such a brilliant idea and so so needed, our Mods do so much for the community, taking care of the chatrooms and safety, in general, and they so much deserve the recognition and appreciation for their hard work and supprtive presence in the community! ❤
Sooo looking forward to see the first com mod of the month soon! 🥳
Viccc, I'm super duper proud of youu! You're owlways so caring, creative and thoughtful. Thankyou for sharing this idea and working so diligently on making it work/ come into action hehe! 🥳 ❤
@Sunisshiningandsoareyou
Thank you for your thoughtful feedback and questions, Sunshine 🌞
I'll try to answer some. 😃❤
1. Does the form have space for volunteer mod recognition also? (For example: The post mentions "recognition initiative for our Community centered and Global moderators." ~ "global" here means volunteer global moderators? Or only community centered Mods, so maybe to avoid confusion "global" could be removed)
The current program is for Community Moderators. We are still working on the initiative for the volunteer mods, and it will be a different program.
So, the current form in the link will focus on our 18 Community Moderators who are required to be on duty for 2 hours for every shift.
I think it is a good idea to paraphrase that part, to avoid confusion.
Maybe we can paraphrase it into this paragraph below:
"In the near future, we will also have a recognition for volunteer moderators. For that initiative, Victoria and Group Support Ambassador @BrilliantTurtle89 is in the process of developing a program for our volunteer mods. It will be a separate program."
Thank you for noticing it, I agree, the question needs to be set mandatory, so that the user cannot skip that question. ❤
3. A tiny idea, on selecting the name of the com mod from the drop down list, would it help to provide some space if someone selects the "other, if missed any" option, in case the com mod's name isn't in the list already?
That is correct, we need to enable 'fill in text' feature in the online form. That way we can type in the name.
4. Maybe somewhere in the form, the Feedback form for Community Moderators could be linked as well, in case someone is looking to share any constructive feedback, they could use a more appropriate form/ channel for it!
That is a great idea! 😃 Maybe we can put the link on the second page, after the last item/question, so maybe something like this:
"On another note, if you have constructive feedback for any community moderators, you can share your thoughts through this link below."
5. Could this form be linked in the chatroom rules also?😮 Might be a quicker place to find it!
That is a brilliant! I love it ❤ That way, we can have more people to vote, because they can see it whenever they are in chatrooms.
Maybe we can have it like the way 'SC volunteer to host' phrase and its link is put in chatrooms.
Thank you for looking at the details, also for your thoughtful suggestions and for your brilliant ideas, Sunshine! 🌞
Let's encourage and appreciate our community moderators! 🥳❤
@VictoriaLove7
