Treat yourself better
Hello 👀 !
Our relationship with ourselves is often the quietest but most powerful connection we’ll ever have. It’s the voice we hear when no one else is around, the way we treat ourselves in moments of failure or success, and the stories we tell ourselves about who we are. 💭
When this relationship is healthy, everything else becomes easier — setting boundaries, building friendships, handling stress, and even facing uncertainty. But when we’re overly critical, constantly comparing, or ignoring our own needs, it’s hard to feel grounded or whole. That’s why it’s important to check in with ourselves, just like we would with a friend.
Here are a few ways to nurture your relationship with yourself:
-
Self-reflection: Journal your thoughts or feelings without judgment.
-
💬Positive self-talk: Notice your inner voice — is it kind or harsh?
-
Time alone: Spend quiet moments doing things you enjoy.
-
Respect your limits: Saying “no” is a form of self-respect.
-
Celebrate small wins: Acknowledge progress, not just perfection.
When we treat ourselves with compassion and curiosity, we grow. And from that growth comes strength, clarity, and the capacity to connect more deeply with others.
What’s one small act of self-kindness you can offer yourself today?💫

Some days do not go as planned, and some go totally haywire. Accepting that it is ok if there is not a single item on the checklist that got crossed out today, and offering yourself some self-compassion - that would be a show of respecting your limits.
And if there was a single item that got done - why not celebrate?

Today, I’ll be kind to myself by taking a quiet tea break, stepping away from screens, and breathing slowly for a few minutes. These may bring a much needed break for me.
@JaniceWang great topic! I want to share here one of the best practices that I have learned in therapy and that has changed my life. A couple of years ago I was going through a very difficult period in my life and one of the first things my therapist suggested I should do was to treat myself as I would do with a very good friend or family, and by this she meant that if I use to cook a nice meal and prepare a nice plating and table for a friend I should do it for me too. If I buy a thoughtful present for no reason for friends I should do it for me too, and so on. I have done this and my life changed. After this came peu a peu a change in how I was talking to myself, in how I was thinking about myself.
Hi @JaniceWang 👋
@JaniceWang
Positive self-talk! Letting past be the past and be content with not being understood or having to explain myself as long as at the end of the day, it's my conscience that's clean! Also, celebrating small wins by eating sweet corn this afternoon that my mother will make!

I think for me it’s going to be going to bed early tonight. I feel like I can’t push myself any more today, and I need to take care of myself.
