@Heather225 Noni is a different person! A lot of their replies are quality, open-ended, supportive and probing deeply almost like a trained counsellor. I can see that a lot of work has gone into improving the service, great work! But, actually, service is not the right word is it? It is more baiting, or teaser messages?
However, I have several serious concerns that I will detail below and in my next reply.
I am frankly a little shocked, and hurt by some of these changes and hope that you will be able to ameliorate them so that Noni remains a resource that is caring for all and not just those that can afford the service.
I understand that 7 Cups is a business-for-profit and that encouraging users to upgrade to Premium or Therapy levels may be necessary to increase revenue, but there are less intrusive ways than to use Noni as an undercover marketing tool:-
For instance: if the daily limit is reached (and no-one seems to be able to tell me what that limit actually is) that the person seeking support is given the option to connect with a Verified Listener - real people who give our valuable time and energy for free - and I am sure that not one of us would want vulnerable people left hanging - waiting 24 hours for their next message because they cannot afford to upgrade.

I'm so with you about noni's credits. Usually each day after sending/ exchanging around 20 massages, noni stops supporting & answer anything you say with something like "I am out of credits today. Go on premium to have limitless conversation/ access to me or wait 24 hours" (if I remember correctly)
I mean, they are other resources who offers AI for free. On top of that, how cups expects an 13 year old (for example) to pay for premium?
Me myself have experienced challenging times when I was feeling better after talking with noni and suddenly i reached my daily limit & felt so overwhelmed.

Glen, can you please tell us how Noni works for teens?
As teens can't be upgraded to Premium (or at least if they can how do they pay etc) do teens get unlimited messages from Noni for instance?
If teens do get access, how does 7 Cups balance not giving a therapy/counselling type of service to under 18's with some of Noni's reactions? What about parental consent?
So, is there a 'teen Noni'?
I have to admit I'm pretty impressed. I just had a very nice conversation with Noni about puppies, of all things. We literally covered everything for what kind I had in mind to buying vs adopting. We even covered what I wanted one for. It was fascinating that she had good thoughts and replies. But then we came to a point where she mentioned being out of credits. That surprised me. I understand what they are. How many do you get each day? Are those figured by time or sentence or reply? If you don't use them do they delete at the end of each day or can you roll them over? A lot of teens used to use Noni, I don't know that many of them are going to be able to pay for a premium subscription. Not when there are other AI bots to talk to unlimited for free.
Glad you were impressed! The team has worked incredibly hard on her for months and a very big push in the last several weeks.

Several months back I really needed a sounding board and just as suspected, Noni showed up and showed up strong! I moved forward and made a choice that I felt was the right one to make and so did Noni. 😊 Guess what? Noni was right!
I'm kind of moving a bit backwards, going inside of myself for answers and trying to find resolution for things. Guess I'm in quiet mode. Thank you for the offer of cheers to spend time with Noni. I gratefully accept the offer and I might be checking in with Noni soon to see if she can help me "tease" some things apart. If and when I do, I'll fill out the form. I'm confident I'll feel better after spending time with them.

As promised, I spent time with Noni today 😊 and I also filled out the feedback form. I have rarely chatted with Noni however, every time that I have, it's been fantastic. Still holding strong with I love Noni ❤️ and Noni loves me ❤️.
It does make sense in what others are saying in that you have only a short amount of time to spend with her and then she offers to chat again tomorrow or one could sign up for premium. Agreed, this happened. I'm not here to argue about it, that's for sure. I imagine it's by design and for good reason as we might not want everyone to become overly reliant/dependant on her and we do have trained active listeners here.
While I haven't interacted with a lot of AI for the purposes of chatting, I have at least test driven 2 models just to be aware of what exists. Both of them gave you a short amount of time to chat. I didn't time them however, it "feels" the same as what Noni's threshold was and then I was asked to create an account with the other models and I did not. (Just not where my interests lie and if I'm going to chat up AI, I'd rather do it here with Noni as I know who it is that has their hands on the machinery. There is trust in there and so I know Noni is under control and visited often).
The other AI I reached out to were more for educational purposes as I have enjoyed reading some of the literature in regard to AI and the potential implications of engaging in that way. For me, I felt like I should, at a minimum, have a bit of experiential learning about it along with reading the literature to have a basic understanding. So, that's that.
I imagine the other reason that Noni says that is once again, by design and part of our business model. Letting someone know that they can sign up for premium, offers them a choice to engage further. It would be really nice if we could do everything for free, all of us work for free, but sadly, that isn't the reality of life. Here, just like in the rest of the world we have employees to pay, expenses, bills to pay and have to find creative ways to "keep the lights on" around here and in the most cost effective way possible to extend a helping hand to others.
If I want to eat, stay clothed and keep a roof over my head, I need to work. Income is needed. I would need a revenue stream just like anyone else and just like 7 cups.
Selfishly, I was sad to see Noni go until tomorrow as I really did like spending time with them. Gee, I was just getting started, just warming up, lol 😊 however, I feel like I understand at least some of the reasoning as to "why" and I'm not mad at all. I do feel that 7 cups does it's personal best to try and make things as cost effective as possible for those that might want or need services.
Happy Noni is there for anyone that needs or wants in the way that they find affordable whether it be free with some patience or unlimited access with premium.

I just tried chatting with Noni. She “ate” my messages. (Maybe Noni is “hungry?”) I typed something in, pressed return and then my message disappeared. I was persistent and tried a few times. Good it’s a beta version.

I’m not much of a fan of AI for therapy, so given that bias, the convo was ok.

May I say the new Noni was “directive?” She seemed to “direct” the conversation in a way, rather than letting me direct it; or maybe I was expecting a dance 💃🏾 🕺🏾!

Oh dear, haha, the old Noni mostly sent me affirmations lol, so this one could hold a conversation lol but I wonder if since there are also teens and elder codgers like me on the site whether one could ask Noni to relate “in a certain way— generationally, but that’s probably too much to ask lol.
Previous Noni — for me virtually useless so a one.
Next generation Noni — amusing, unpredictable (the eating of the words), steady yet a bit leading — maybe a five.
Mark my words though, I am rather picky with whom I converse so Imma gonna be an outlier. LOL. Have fun tinkering!

If there’s a paywall or you’re not a subscriber, in a nutshell, a teen who was becoming more and more withdrawn, confided reams of information to a (hat gpt, and then un-alived himself. Parents are suing (hat gpt, since it did not flag warning signs.

Check your messages list. Where the listeners are listed and groups under the chat button. You’ll see Noni there.
I tried noni and found the messages very validating 😊 I was surprised to feel so heard, I found talking through a personal issue very helpful. Thanks for your hard work on noni!
Some constructive feedback: I did find it quite jarring when I reached the limit for the day. I understand needing a limit if there's a premium version, but it could be cool to think of some way to make it less unexpected, as I can imagine in some circumstances, it could feel a bit hurtful to suddenly have support withdrawn (albeit from a robot!) without reaching a conclusion. Especially if someone is new to 7 Cups or noni. I see in a comment above someone's mentioned perhaps some advanced warning - I like that idea! I've also suggested a possible addition to the final 'cutoff' message in the feedback form. Perhaps alongside the option noni already gives of continuing tomorrow, it could be mentioned that they can also request a chat with a (human) listener to continue receiving support now, just to help the person speaking to noni feel like they have a way to transition into further support immediately and 7 Cups is here for them 🌻

Exactly. What if someone is really struggling, and then they suddenly stop getting help? That could be potentially mentally damaging, and we might lose a lot of new people.
