Hello, everyone!
As you might be aware, there are some on-going forum changes taking place. You can use this thread to provide any feedback, suggestions on forum functionality (functions, features, utility, any technical aspects only) or bugs that you encounter.
This is mainly being done to help keep things organized as it can be hard to gather it from various places/people and ease up the process for everyone to pass on feedback further to the 7 Cups team.
We encourage everyone to use this thread for its purpose anytime and use it for only that. Kindly review this post for any other feedback/behavior reports that don't involve forum functionality.

I've noticed several issues within the Personality Disorders forums (accessing via web browser). From most to least serious:
1) Unable to load additional forum posts when scrolling to bottom of the community page with default filter ("Last Active")

The truncated display issue only affects posts containing links

My previous post was automatically minimized. Because it contained the word "issues". Bumping my request from 6 months ago to eliminate automatic post minimization.
At my first attempt to report the issue, I have had an info about some problem with posting. My message was posted, but surprisingly cut in the place where the link was.

is not working - forum threads with zero replies seem to not load there at all 😕
I thought it might have been something temporary, but the problem persists for at least one or two weeks (what can make some of the post unanswered and forgotten).
Also, some other sections, like "Recent" or "Popular" tend to work more slowly, with occasional hang-ups.

Hi Jacek, yes, the Needs Reply tab hasn’t been working for a few weeks now. I'll add the Recent and Popular tabs to the list as well. It’s been reported to the dev team, and we’re currently waiting for updates on their findings and next steps.

It appears to me 7 cups have sold out to the Corporations to make money.
They say it's to pay for the site.
I believe that is a half a truth, Which is often a great lie.
An easy way out.
I would think that there are non charitable and charitable organizations that could donate to maintain a truly beneficial site.
It is a counterproductive situation because all these social advertisements and manipulations, even the diagrams the charts, the advertisements themselves are extremely stressful and discouraging.
It seems to me 7 cups is throwing gasoline on the bonfire of overwhelmness, confusion and depression.... for a profit.
I could be wrong and some smooth talkers can probably make it sound a OK, but that does not change the fact that these advertisements causes stress and anxiety.

It saddens me to see that 7 cups is allowing this kind of imagery on its site. I can only imagine the effect it has on self-concious people, sexual victims and in general, it's an image not suitable for a website that is trying to lift people up.
Advertisers are clever with their labeling, As I saw this one sexy image of a woman with her mouth open ready to receive hot lava down her open, Seductive mouth, As she lay on her back. They labeled this as an IQ test.
Obviously, ADHD is a issue for many members on this site and all the flashing ads and all distractions totally destroys the comfort and safety for many many members including myself.
the only reason I am reaching out to you is because I have been a benefactor of 7 cups since 2021. And in a very thankful manner, I also have been a consistent contributor, trying to encourage people to achieve their goals and I've maintained a consistent and resposible thread for about two or three years now.
I am Saddened by the possibility that I may not be able to contribute to an organization that has gone to the dark side of greed, To take advantage of the disillusioned and fragile minds of the mentally challenged.
I do realize, And apologize for the harsh judgment, from that which I may have little understanding. But there must be a better way to raise money for this site than destroy it And manipulate Its loyal base.
There are so many trigger warnings that these advertisements trespass against, that it's impossible for me to understand why it is allowed.
I can't even post a flashing gif, But I guess if you have enough money to pay, You could put up all the flashing gif's or ads that you want.
This is a big enough deal that I may have to leave the site. Thank you in advance for your time and your considerations. Looking forward to insights I may not have considered.

Hi, Isay Uncle, I know you addressed River, not me, but I wanted to let you know in case you were not aware, that you can “opt out” of all the advertising.
If you go to your profile (where you put the little blurb about yourself) and scroll down to the very footer of the page, there will be (in tiny typeface, you may need magnifying glasses or even a microscope to see it) “privacy options.” If you click on that you can “opt out” of advertising.
I agree with you that some types of adverts can be triggering and it is for this reason (keeping our brains clear and simple) that some of us even are on this website.
It is for this reason I opt out of advertising whenever I get the chance.
It would be a shame to lose you just because of bureaucratic decisions made without our input or consent.

@CalmRosebud My understanding is it isn't opting-out of advertising, but of the targeted ads.
I see ads despite setting that up.

Thanks Affy, i think you 100% correct.
And the truth is that makes me even a little bit madder because of the manipulation mechanism. They can throw at me whatever junk they want unless I manipulated to tell them what I like and what I don't like. I know that's the way it is on all the cooking mechanisms or advertisement mechanisms, not just this site but that's why we shouldn't have advertisements on this site.
I think it continues to be too much on the brain. Especially for people that have issues with focus and decision making and maybe they're financially broke and they're being tempted to buy things they don't need. And they'll feed it to you one way or the other whether you opt out or you don't.
Unless I'm doing it wrong, That was my experience too.

I'm glad you commented. I directed the post To the people that I think Are instrumental in maintaining the site.
But I could have stated to anyone else, that thinks this is a good talking point.
Thanks for your insight and your input about opting out, but I've tried opting out and it doesn't seem to work. I think AffyAvo has stated it correctly down below. Plus idon't feel i need an extra burden, just to participate. (And it is not a small thing for some.... maybe for others, it is.
Do you know if I'm right or wrong, that these ads just started about three weeks ago or maybe 5 weeks ago I don't know.

Thank you so much for the links. I have a lot to read and catch up on from 2015 it looks like.
I did get the general idea of the intention, Which to be honest, I kind of knew already.
I simply do not remember them being so intrusive when I first started and 7 cups a few years ago and it just seemed like, these past few weeks they have gotten excessive. Am i losing my mind?
Reminds me of our governor OK-ing and Legalizing gambling To get revenues for the state. But they never said that they were going to bombard the social media and TV's and teenagers in high school sports with tons and tons of betting options. Now we have an epidemic of high schoolers addicted to betting., Along with a large portion poverty ridden adults.
Legalizing betting for extra revenue was a good idea but the devil is in the details and now the genie is out of the bottle. I will have to read a whole lot more Glen's Sincere efforts of sustainability. So thank you for steering me in that direction.
@IsayUncle I think the ads were only started to be tested in February and then rolled out to all (adult?) users in March.
Some of the sustainability discussions going back include things like tge said therapy. When I joined, there were no therapist accounts, no premium membership, etc.

I always assumed this was a non charity organization. They've done a good job keeping it a safe place to have conversations. I have to do a little bit more research about the structure of this organization/website.
They did well, but if they're going to eventually turn it into a corporate money machine Unless you pay for the premium....... Then they'll probably succeed, but in the process, they'll Destroy the very spirit/essence that helped the downtrodden with little help or no finances.
I am a huge advocate for not taking the free version of anything on the Internet. I feel like the companies exisist to make money and they set up a good program and they need to make as much money as possible. I always pay For memberships For choosing something that I want.
Finding help for mental illness - It's not a choice. If I look at Seven Cups as a company now, then it changes my whole perspective. Before I perceived it to be a gregarious, philantropist orginization.
It will sadden me to discover it is anything but. (Perhaps, once was, but now morphing) Only because I see all the wonderful things that it has accomplished, Including helping me, with my own self determination.
As far as reporting inappropiate ads to the proper venue.... kind of a non starter there. for the following reasons:
They should already have someone monitoring the advertisements if they are concerned About what's appropriate and what's not.
Who am I to say what's appropriate. Advertisers are clever with their interpretation and presentation.
The proper venue is probably already overloaded with more work than they can handle and so anything I do submit would probably take a very long time to address.
In general I would not expect the proper venue To be effective, Quickly and proactively.
On second thought, It could be something that should be submitted and maybe they will address it but then I can also write posts about it too. Thanks again for the direction.
@IsayUncle Generally, I'm not sure how much reporting is done. I think it tends to be the same small group of people. In the other thread Glen mentioned 10 of us / 7 of us to reports and comments to H.
I agree though, we shouldn't be required to report the ads especially when it's not just a few inappropriate ones that sneak through. Later on we may, as I do notice some ads are specific to my location.

Thank You, I had not realized how involved he was with the whole process until @AffyAvo Directed me to several threads from Glen Concerning this whole issue, starting from years ago.
I just knew from previous threads That he dictates a lot of the direction this organization goes.
I feel a little bad about the rant that I went on, now understanding how much thought was put into it. But I still totally disagree with it and would love to Study more about all the decision making that led up to this development.
I'm getting a ton of old upvote notifications.
My notifications hit 100, I delete a bunch and then more old upvotes appear, constantly going to 100 notifications.
I also asked about the update in a separate thread as there's changes that haven't been mentioned.
