I have a feeling that I have depression or anxiety. I'm constantly running to the bathroom and trying to calm myself down and doing self harm. What is going on with me?

I’m so sorry I hear you are going through this. I want to help you find your path to the answers you need and help you find a way to stay safe and healthy. It sounds as though you have identified that you are experiencing anxiety. It is fantastic that you knew yourself well enough to identify this! Depression certainly goes hand in hand with anxiety for many people, though you know this part about your experience better than anyone. I have heard about self harm from others who have later realized that the harm was serving to help them alleviate some of the pain that they were experiencing. Though it created an additional worry about injury and confusion about the “why” When this happens are you able to identify some signs that tell you your experience is getting to a place where harming yourself is right around the corner? Has anything else ever helped you feel better? How open are you to exploring this with someone who might be able to connect you with resources to dive deeper into this with you? I am happy to be a listening ear and hope you would find some comfort in that. I’d also like to be sure you have some other options to consider. Main goal to keep you safe and healthy first! Finding ways to soothe your pain in a way that doesn’t have you feeling more fearful is next!

It is okay to be anxious .. we all do. But we must figure out how to solve it without harming ourselves since hurting yourself will not make you feel better. I think we ought to talk about it and find out what we should do. When we feel down, give ourselves a chance to take a deep breath and figure out the best solution. By hurting ourselves, nothing will be accomplished except pain.
