Sometimes when things happen that are scary or overwhelming, I feel cold, like I'm sweating and like my heart is pounding, but I can breathe fine. Is this a panic attack?

Dear Writer,
I have had frequent panic attacks in the past and my symptoms range from hyperventilating, sweaty shivers, bursting out in tears, disorientation, severe levels of anxiety and helplessness. My main symptom is the inability to catch my breath, but anxiety affects everyone differently. I would say the way you are feeling is more indicative of a high anxiety level or anxiousness, not a full blown panic attack, BUT that’s not to belittle your emotions or how you felt in that present moment. If you ever find yourself in that state again, I would suggest going to a quiet place and try to do something that calms you down such as listening to music, writing, or simply closing your eyes and practice breathing. If you feel as if you cannot get your anxiety under control, I would recommend calling a loved one just to chat, even if it isn’t about your current emotions as many people do not like discussing them.
Take care, K.

Yes it definitely sounds like a panic attack to me. Your body is in flight or fight to deal with the scary and overwhelming things occurring currently in your life. Even if you are breathing fine, the sweating, feeling cold, and your heart racing are all symptoms of a panic attack. I would take deep breaths and focusing on breathing. Take slow and deep breathes, Everything will be okay. Anxiety is terrible, and I am here for you at 7 cups! We all are, and we must stick together as a whole. You got this. Stay strong! Hope this helps.
