I have been through a lot in life too, which helps me to be able to empathize with situations, thoughts and feelings that we have. Sometimes, it's not easy just being human.

Don't be afraid to share how you feel if the relationship still has value to you, and if you believe it is an emotionally safe thing for you to do. A form of self-care is expressing yourself, sharing your truth. If you are confused, you have a right to say so. When dealing with someone who cares for you, they want you to have understanding. On the other side of the coin, if they show you they do not have regard for your feelings, it is your job to use that information so that you can set appropriate boundaries to take care of yourself and practice acceptance. Either way, the outcome is that you gain more clarity - about his behavior, or about it being time for you to show yourself more love.
