Not All Longest Nights Belong to the Sky
by daydreammemories
Last post
...See more Hello hello wonderful humans! I hope your days go as smoothly as possible💚 Happy holidays and Merry Christmas to everyone celebrating🎉🙂 Last Sunday was the longest night of the year for many of us. In Persian, this night is celebrated as "Yalda". Yalda Night is known as the longest night of the year — a moment we can measure, predict, and mark together. We know exactly when it starts and when it ends. Historically, it symbolized the victory of light over darkness and hope over hardship. Families gather to stay awake through the night, trusting that after the longest darkness, the days would begin to grow longer again. ✨ But life has its own longest nights. There are nights that don’t follow astronomy or calendars. Nights of loss, anxiety, depression, uncertainty, illness, or waiting. Nights where time feels stretched, where the idea of “morning” feels distant or irrelevant. Nights that don’t end with sunlight, gatherings, or tradition. This post is about acknowledging those nights. The ones we don’t name. The ones we endure silently. The ones that feel endless not because of the sky, but because of what we are carrying. Yalda reminds us that darkness passes. But it also invites us to ask harder questions about the darkness we live through. ⁛What has been the longest night of your life? ⁛What made it feel endless? ⁛Did you have support, or did you carry it alone? ⁛What helped you get through — or are you still in it? ⁛And when you imagine “morning,” what does that actually mean for you? (Kindly please add trigger warning if necessary!) (Please use your member account to answer and your listener account for supportive replies)

panic attack vs anxiety attack

...See more I get panic attacks a couple of times a month but i find that my anxiety is harder to deal with. Sometimes it feels like i am so close to having a panic attack but I don't quite tip over the edge. I know panic attacks are horrible but sometimes i feel like i would prefer it to an anxiety attack just to be able to get all of the emotions out. Again, i suffer from both so i am not trying to suggest that either is preferable or tolerable at the very least but does anyone else have a similar kind of experience with this?

Anxiety - The Panic meadow

...See more when i start to have meltdowns, anxiety or panic attacks, i go somewhere calming in my head, and i'd like to say it  close your eyes, and breath...  There's a meadow where the sun shines softly, and the sky is filled with the softest pink clouds. the grass sways in the wind, and there are flowers of all kinds that give off the most calming smell. There's a stream of clear water close by, it's so quiet you can hear it. If you decide to sit by the stream, you'll find yourself greeted by a furry friend, it's a little fox! his name is Benjamin. he's there to listen to you when things are overwhelming, and he'll lay with you when you need warmth.  this place is safe, away from noise, from chaos, and from pain. here you can be calm, here you can let yourself feel the grass, hear the stream and smell the flowers. This place is safe, here you are protected.  remember the meadow is always there if you need it, just take a second, close your eyes, and listen to the stream when Benji comes to say hello 💓

Physical Sensations During Anxiety/Panic Attacks
by redBeach431

...See more I feel like over the last 3–4 years, my anxiety has shifted. A few years ago, I used to be very in my head about how I wasn’t good enough, how I wasn’t cool enough, or entertaining enough, and this used to give me a lot of anxiety in social settings. These were thoughts that would run through my mind in the moment and make me freeze up or feel anxious and panicky. I went to therapy during this time and talked through a lot of these feelings, and I have made huge, huge progress with those issues specifically. When I go into social settings now, I don’t have these thoughts in my head. I am more content with myself as a person. I don’t feel the same pressure in social settings or have those intrusive thoughts. However, over the last 3–4 years, I now feel immense physical anxiety. For example, I’ll be heading to a social setting and my mind panics, and I feel like I’m going to throw up, *** myself, or get light-headed. It hits me like a truck. I have really been struggling to work through this type of anxiety because, in the moment, you just feel like you’re dying and your body is giving up on you. I feel like this has made me cut off social interactions slightly. I still try to put myself out there and step outside my comfort zone, but it is incredibly difficult. The main thing is that I feel like I’m not really present because I’m in my head trying to keep my body from breaking down and trying not to pass out, throw up, or *** myself. I feel like I’m not present and am stuck in my head when I’m around friends in social settings. Also, with things like dating, I haven’t really put myself out there because, like, why and how would I go on a date and meet people if I’m not going to be present and I’m just going to sit there feeling sick while I’m with someone? I want to be there with a person, talking, listening, and getting to know them properly. Again, I want to specify that this isn’t just me stepping outside my comfort zone. I know nerves on first dates are normal, and being anxious is normal, but this is more like I feel physically sick and like my body is about to give up. That is not a feeling you can really just push past and tell yourself to put yourself out there. If anyone has any guidance, it would be much appreciated. This has really been a struggle over the last few years, with very little progress.

...See more I finally overcame my panic disorder, which started 8 years ago when my father died. For 3 years I did not even dare go to the store, and now I go every day. It feels incredible, although I have to say everything is ridiculously expensive these days. I wanted to post this here because I hope some of you can also start to understand what is really behind all of this. When I finally understood what was happening in my body, that I was not having a stroke or some kind of brain circulation problem, but that my symptoms were coming from muscle tension and shallow breathing, everything started to make sense. I spent an hour every evening reading panicresearch.org and watching YouTube videos. The problem with YouTube, though, is that the videos often just left me with even more questions. I truly wish all the best to everyone here, and especially to you if you are reading this right now.

Worst panic attack ever

...See more I had this panic attack on monday. I was sitting in a corner shaking for four hours, while humming under my breathe and watching childish cartoons. I was shaking so violently that I had to hold onto myself, almost hugging myself. Normally I call my mom (yeah, I'm 26 yo woman calling my mom) when I have panic attack, but this time I felt kinda frozen, and couldn't really move. Paranoia moved into my mind too, and I didn't know what to do. I was so shaken that I don't even remember when I actually managed to fall asleep. It was the worst panic attack I have ever had, and I had to handle it alone. I don't know, I just feel like *** now, and has been for days :S

...See more This is going to sound really stupid but I've had panic attacks since I was 7 and I haven't told people yet. When I was younger I was bullied, stressed, and depressed but I didn't tell because I didn't want to be thought of as a failure. As all of this built up, I had my first panic attack at age 7. For an entire summer I did nothing and all I ate was soup and lettuce (I know, I was weird). I didn't know what it was at the time and my parents thought it was mono. They got a bit better for a few years but I was always shy and stressed from then on. Then it came back when I transitioned from elementary school to middle school. I was separated from all of my friends and so I was lonely for the beginning of the year. I had gone from a super friendly kid to being terrified to talk to people. I continued to be bullied and stress over everything but I never let my parents know because I didn't want to seem useless. I found some friends who I still have now an they were the first people I knew who were educated on this stuff. One of my friends, Claire, had depression and anxiety and taught me all about those things. I learned about self harm, eating disorders, and panic attacks. After being educated on anxiety disorders I began to think about it. All of my problems related to anxiety and panic attacks so I confronted Claire. She accused me of making fun of her problems and being an attention hog. I was truly hurt by her because I thought friends were supposed to support each other. After that I believed that I was being rude and that I should keep my problems to myself. I stayed this way for 6 months and school, bullies, and socialization made my panic attacks worse. Now, I wake up crying on a weekly basis, I'm mocked by my own parents for being antisocial, and I'm more anxious than ever. Everything I've heard says that I should tell my parents so I can see a doctor but no one seems to understand that the only thing more stressful to me than hiding my anxiety is actually having to tell my parents. I have spent my whole life worried about making my parents proud and seeming like the perfect child and I'm afraid that if I tell them they will think I am a disgrace or a waste of their time. After all, why would they spend so much time on raising a child if she ended up broken anyway? I'm just looking for suggestions on if I should tell, how I should, or just things to help me deal with my anxiety...
