To support the teen community with the knowledge that I have as well as being open to learn, gain knowledge and skills from the teens. To guide the teens to take on their own initiatives and become their own leaders and not underestimate their potential for growth. To not pressurise the teens into doing anything they do not want to do, including encouraging offsite contact. To not overstep or overshadow the teens when supporting and guiding them, or monopolise within the teen community. To have a duty of care when caring for and supporting the teens in the community, so that I am not pushing boundaries and keeping the teen community safe and supportive. To be mindful of our speech and how it may be perceived, to not patronise or undermine anyone in the community no matter their age. ...See more Many people may not be aware that here at 7 Cups we are divided into two parts. This is so we can keep all of our teens as safe as possible. Everyone 18 or over is on the ‘adult side’ which is fondly called the ‘oldie side’. And the ‘teen side’ which is populated with teens:- Teen members aged 13-17 Teen listeners aged 15-17 And also with adults called ‘ATL’ (adult - teen listeners) who are aged 18 + but who have been approved by the admin team to listen to teens. They will have the ATL badge by their name in the rooms and on their profiles. You can read more about them further down this post. As you know 7 Cups reaches world-wide! As such different cultures can have different terminology about when a person reaches adulthood, for 7 Cups this is on the 18th birthday! It might be called ‘transitioning’ from teen to adult, or it might be ‘aging-up’, or it could just be the beginning of adulthood. For some, reaching twenty-one is a more auspicious age when they reach adult status!  Did you know that we have a special team of listeners called Teen Transition Mentors? This is the beginning of a new year and for many of you this will also mark the beginning of a new episode of your life - Adulthood - when you reach 18! At 7 Cups when you reach 18 you will be switched to the adult 18+ side. This happens at midnight 12:00 GMT.*  Why 12:00 GMT? I have no idea, but it has to be some time so why not lol? ~ What is the Teen Transition Mentor Team ~ We have a whole team on hand to offer you support. Growing Old Is Mandatory!

...See more 🎉 Turning 18: Welcome to Adulthood... Sort of 🎉 So it’s said that, “Growing old is mandatory, but Growing Up is Optional.” Wise words by Walt Disney who made a whole world of fun. And guess what? Turning 18 is the starting point! Sure, legally you're now an adult: 🥴 whatever that means! * You can vote 🗳️ * Get a tattoo without asking Mom 🎨 * Sign your own forms 📄 * Buy a lottery ticket and maybe even win a few million! 🤓 * And . .  join 7 Cups adult community! 🥳 But do you suddenly feel grown-up? Nope. You still don’t know what to do with your hands in group photos. You still consider pizza and ice-cream food groups. You still lie in bed till noon on weekends. Taking selfies is considered a valid use of time. And your “life plan” might still include "become a dragon" as a viable option. 🐉 Turning 18 just means you're officially on the ride called "adulthood" - but how seriously do you take it? That’s entirely up to you! So yeah, you're growing older now whether you like it or not.     But growing up?         Totally optional! Stay weird. Stay playful. Pay your taxes (eventually) but . . .  never stop dancing in the kitchen at 2 a.m. 💃🕺 So - what is the first thing you will do, or did, when you turned 18? The team's goal is to ensure that the teens are aware that support is available to them during this transition period. To best assist teens in their transition period, you should be aware of the following: * How the aging up process is on 7 Cups * Logistics around the process and the changes that come with switching sides * Why aging up can be hard Full training and support  given! What are the requirements: - Verified Listener Badge [https://www.7cups.com/forum/ListenerLearningJourney_149/ListenerVerificationProject_1839/NewAdditionalCriteriaToBecomeVerifiedListenerGoingLive_230276/] - Be an adult (18+) - No serious behavior reports in the past 3 months - Must be an Adult-Teen Listener [https://www.7cups.com/forum/CommunityProjectsEvents_184/AdultTeenListenersAgingUpSupport_1766/ApplytobeanAdultTeenListenerHereUpdated_214321/1/] (ATL) for at least a month - Those in a leadership role already will be given preference! - Have aged up on the website before (Have the Evolution badge) - This is optional! Some notes to keep in mind: - This role is available to only ATLs as they are the only ones that can interact with teens. - The team reserves the right to remove any mentor on any basis, well within reason. It can be based on inactivity, unprofessionalism, etc. - Each role entails a month-long trial that follows the training. You will be trained initially and then put on a trial so both you and the team can create an understanding of each others' work style. - Please be mindful of how much time you can dedicate to the role. We have requirements for this role that need to be fulfilled and will only be possible if you are active. General expectations from all the roles: - Always be open to feedback, be it positive or constructive. We strive on the feedback we are given and will take every opportunity we can to become better. - The roles will require consistent involvement - Quick learner and a team player - Must be comfortable leading group discussions for the team - Be a proactive guide to all our teens so they can transition smoothly - Be flexible and ready to adapt to different needs that you might come around to face - Deliver a good response time to teen mentees. ...See more Hi everyone! I wanted to post all bout the teen transitioning mentors we have here on 7 Cups. Aging up can be hard but we are here for you. We now have specialized mentors to support those that are going to age up soon. They are here to be a guide into the adult side as things change and new rules get implemented. How does it work? It's quite simple. Fill out a form to request a mentor and they will reach out to you in 2-3 days to help you with the process. What can teen transition mentors do? They can help you understand what's different on the adult side. They can answer any questions you may have about what's on the adult side. They can also assist you with navigating the site once you age up as well as with ATL applications and expectations. So, basically, they're your buddy through the whole process. Who can seek support? Anyone who is about to age up within a year or less. But we really support everyone with aging up! What are my other options? We will continue to host discussions, events, icebreakers so that you get the chance to be familiar with our mentors and expectations.
