Where do you draw the line emotionally? 💗

Hi sweet Cupsers (*˘︶˘*).。*♡

💌 This is inspired by @Heather225 ’s April challenge post 💌

img-20260402-034112_1775081502.jpg

Sometimes we carry other ppl’s emotions without even realizing it. a conversation, a post, or even a few words can stay in our mind longer than we expect.

I’ve started to understand that it’s important to pause, step back, and not let everything sit inside me. Even a small break, or distracting myself for a bit, helps me reset.

Being there for others matters, but so does protecting ur own peace. you can care without carrying everything.

How do you separate your feelings from others??!! :)

Very easily.  I am built that way. I just wait to see what happens next. When I listen to people here, of course I sympathize but it is their issue, not. mine. It has never prevented me from sleeping.

Compare this with medical staff who see terrible things regularly, lose patients, professionals like police folks, attorneys and judges whose job often include horrendous evidence. They all are used to these mental shocks, with a few exceptions, of course.

That’s a strong perspective. I think it really depends on how each person is wired... some can naturally separate, while others feel things more deeply. It’s interesting to see both sides. Thanks for sharing 😊

I think that being able to separate your own life from what happens to others is the way to go. When I listen here, of course I am 100% deep into their issue, but we all have a way out as listeners.

Some people have trouble separating other people's issues from their own. If it is the case, they ought to avoid being a listener.

@Fradiga

Thank you for sharing your perspective ❤️ I agree that being able to separate can really help, especially to avoid burnout. At the same time, I feel some ppls are still learning how to do that, n it can take time. Different ppls process emotions differently, I guess 😊

🙏 Namaste all,

I don’t think that’s the right wording, because the heart doesn’t have the power to think — the brain does. I believe it’s the brain that handles thinking, not the heart...

Hiya (/^-^(^ ^*)/

I understand your point. The brain does process everything, but I think people often use the “heart” to express feelings more emotionally. Thank you for sharing ur input 😊

This is a great question as well as an excellent post in general! I look forward to reading more about other people's experiences and strategies.😊

Whether I'm listening here on Cups or offline irl, I have found that knowing my limits and how much emotional bandwidth I have available are important. Learning exactly where those limits were and how to be fully present for others without going past those limits was a bit of a journey for me. Having healthy boundaries is also very important. If I'm burnt out, I cannot help anyone. Knowing when to say "no," take a break or step away are crucial.

I always build a "decompression period" into the time I spend listening. It's time after I'm finished listening where I do simple things that help me feel grounded and in tune with my own feelings and needs. Sometimes it's a short guided meditation, grounding exercise, stretching or walk outside. Sometimes a shower helps me reset. It can also be as simple as a cup of tea and checking in with myself. 💕

Thank you so much for this, I really appreciate you sharing your experience 🤍 I like how you mentioned knowing your limits and emotional bandwidth that’s something I’m still learning💓. The idea of a decompression period is really helpful too. It sounds like a very healthy way to stay balanced 💕

How do you separate your feelings from others??!!

for us we use to  be emotionally numb a lot with our own emotions but we like take on others issues a lot then we feel things for them still being numb to own emotions this was done big time with our mom but when we learned  boundaries  this stopped as we came to see we  have a right to personal  space even emotional  personal space

so now we set boundaries even emotionally  we step back take time away from the person at times we learned a long time ago a like asking God  to shielded  us  at times from taking on others feelings for us this helps a lot

the prayer or  could be called meditation is asking Him to put angels around us naming each  side like putting a shield all around   us  this same can help with  night terrors  and nightmares if done right before going to sleep

have a friend who beliefs different  she will ask  the energy  of life to shield her and say it like being safe inside a bubble  so not talking on other people emotion

both us and others have tried this and really helps

Thank you for sharing this 🤍 I can understand how that must have been, especially feeling others’ emotions while being numb to your own. It’s really good that you found boundaries that work for you. The idea of protecting your emotional space in a way that feels right to you is really important 💕 you're amazing 💗

When someone is sharing their emotions with me, in the moment I will feel what they are feeling, or maybe, even a deeper emotion. After our conversation though, I will digest what had been said, and pull myself out from that emotional state. Of course, I'm still learning to perfect this skill, so there are times, where I'd be worried and stressed for that person for a couple of days after our conversation.

Thank you for sharing this 🤍 I like how you explained the difference between feeling in the moment n then stepping back after. That’s not easy to do, n the fact that you’re aware of it shows growth. It’s okay that it still stays with you sometimes, you’re learning and that already matters 💕

@AiluraTheCat This is a really good question. I separate my feelings when they separate theirs. Coming on this platform means a lot to me, but when I log off, it's different when you feel like you're still on 7 Cups when a friend talks to you. You know... only needing you when things aren't going right and when they feel better, they don't come back. It hurts and I had to let a few people go because of that. 💔

Thank you for sharing this 🤍 I'm sry to hear that, I can understand how that would hurt, especially when you’re there for someone and it doesn’t feel mutual. It’s not easy to let people go, but sometimes it’s necessary to protect your own feelings 💔

This is such a beautiful post, it is so important to remember that we are also human beings, and we have emotions too!

I think I set boundaries by taking breaks, practising self care and reaching out to the community for some light hearted conversation and bonding.

I did yesterday, when I understood that a listener wasn't really directing me right way, he was in the same boat as me but not in a good way... we spent too many hours wasting time instead of dealing with our issues.

Uhg, i must appreciate this ❤️, Thank you for sharing this ❤️ that kind of realization isn’t easy, but it’s really important. Sometimes it takes moments like that to understand what’s actually helping us and what’s not. I’m glad you were able to see that and step back 😊💗
