April 2022 Community Update!
Dear Community,
I hope the weather is nice where you are. Many parts of the world are now starting to bloom. We’ve had sun here and I’m so thankful to see some of the colder weather go away.
This spring marks the beginning of many more research and organizational partnerships. I’ll share more as things are firmed up. The broad theme is that many are now seeing the increased importance of mental health and well-being in ways not seen in the past. This is very good news because it means we will have increased collaboration to help reach shared goals.
Another new area of prioritized focus is group. Obs, our amazing mods, and other group leaders have done a tremendous job supporting people in our groups. Our goal is to send more and more people to group because it is a free and effective way of providing support.
I appreciate you all and am thankful you are a part of our community! - Glen

Hi everybody!! This month we highlighted three outstanding community contributors under our Leadership Spotlight:
If you’d like to nominate someone for demonstrating great leadership qualities, please fill out this form! Anyone occupying a leadership position is eligible!
Also, a reminder that every month I review submissions to our Feedback form. If you have any suggestions for features or other improvements we can make to the site and community at large, I encourage you to send in your thoughts. It may take some time to get back to you, but if you want to inquire about feedback you submitted, you can always drop me an email heather.nelson@7cups.com

In the month of April, we have been focusing on strengthening academy leadership as we did 1-1 outreach for the academy mentor roles and have been onboarding mentors and trialing a potential Mentor Leader. Strong leadership continues to be a priority for the academy. Additionally, we have been working on shifting from the google forms progress reports system to forum progress reports, the shift has been made for Content Development and Marketing Program in the past month while the Internship already launched the month before.
The academy flyers now have a new look. You can view them here. Feel free to share these with interested friends/family/community users. Additionally, 7 Cups Academy Growth Path is now available for listeners/members to take if they are interested in learning more about 7 Cups Academy opportunities and reasons to join. Please try it and provide feedback in the form attached.
Eid Mubarak to all who are celebrating! Click here to share the joy with the community.

We have been focused on updating and optimizing the resources related to roles like Room Supporter, Chatroom Moderator, Listener Chatroom Supporter, Chatroom Mentor, etc. We updated their application and training forms & training guides. We will do the same for other roles-related resources too. And, added email communication as an additional way to communicate and share updates, resources & information with the room supporter and moderators. We onboarded two GSMLs as well.
On the Verified Listener front, we were planning Verified Listener Awareness Week which we will organize in the month of May. We are working on improving the grading, badging & feedback process for Active Listening Tests (1-4). Evelyne will share more about it in her upcoming quality updates.
In the other news, 111 members successfully completed the Member Compassion Course to become compassion heroes in the month of April. It is the all-time highest count so far. The previous one was 25 in 2018. Congratulations to all the members who took the steps to test their understanding and practice compassion. Every ounce of compassion matters.

I will be closing this month with a Power of the Pen event in relation to it being National Poetry Month - you can start reading the amazing poetry shared by community users here and check back on the thread for more poetic shares after today in the same thread!
Team Lightship has hosted an awareness-filled event for Sexual Assault and Prevention Month (SAAM) wherein every community user was invited to spread awareness via social media while earning cheers and 12 users have already participated in this cause! @DreamTouch and @ouiCherie aim to lead such awareness events every month and have provided a social media kit with graphics and other support making it an easy yet important team effort.
We look forward to participating in next month’s Mental Health Awareness month in different ways. Alongside Team Lightship on social media, the content team will be joining the month-long event next month with one daily writing prompt to help everyone reflect on the different themes. @Clarisse29 has already done a great job starting up a Tea Talk section where they are posting amazing weekly prompts for reflection.
With our community growing with quality content to explore and discover, members can now use their feed to explore helpful content and can engage with this content directly from their feed! Click here to learn more about the latest feed feature.
The Translation Projects world is also continuing to work on translating 7 Cups to many languages to ensure global mental health support. You can take a look at our monthly help wanted post to help by clicking here.

This month we have done great growth in the quality realm. The Anonymous Evaluations Team has added @InternalAcceptance as a PA. We also are recruiting team members to join the team! Interested? Contact @Internalacceptance or @evelynerose.
We also hosted a Listen-a-thon last week! Listeners signed up to give back to the community and help members in need. We had 30+ participants!

The month of April has been a month of growth for the subcommunity domain. From events to leadership, we have been able to continue to give our subcommunities the support and attention it deserves.
From the leadership aspect, we’ve onboarded 2 Forum Supporters, 6 Community Mentors, and 4 Project Agents. You can congratulate them here. If you are interested in joining one of the leadership roles in the subcommunities, you can view the masterpost here or contact me or @KyleBorg(Teens) to get assistance in figuring out which role works best for you.
We celebrated Ramadan and Autism Awareness Month among other events. You can participate in them here. Stay tuned as we celebrate Mental Health Awareness Month all month long in May.
@KyleBorg has been promoted to Teen Subcommunity Leader and will be assisting with the teen leadership roles in the subcommunities. Please feel free to reach out to them with any concerns.
If you notice or experience any difficulties while using the forums, please feel free to leave your comments in this thread to help us track them. Thank you for your continuous support and patience as we implement these changes in the subcommunities.
