@amiablePeace77 grieving was probably the most difficult thing for me. What helps  is having a special place to sit and talk to him 💖 also writing poems/letters for his birthday and attaching them to balloons and let them float up to heaven 💖

@amiablePeace77 The most difficult thing was becoming estranged from my family. What helps is having my own family and breaking the cycle so they can have the best life possible.

I can see how much you care about your own family and that you don't want them to go through what you've experienced.

What was the most difficult thing you had to do in life?

There’s definitely more than just one most difficult thing I had to and still have to do by the way in my life. One of those many things was pretending to be happy around others when I really wasn’t just so everyone had a fun good happy time together. Pretending at that level takes a lot of effort. Especially when done repetitively. It can mentally drain you + it’s mentally exhausting and it’ll burn you out.

Without going too much into detail what helped you to deal with the situation?

Realizing and telling myself that I need to stop pretending and not pretending anymore since then.

@akunknown Hi Al. ❤️ I see you in a lot of the same places I write, and I think I’ve written before to tell you I identify with a lot you say. You seem to have a really good perspective on things. If you don’t mind me asking, have you found more supportive people in your life lately? Have you found peace in doing things on your own? What is it that’s helped you? I’ve been in a place for a while where I just feel defeated like I don’t belong anywhere. I’m probably most at peace when I’m alone, but I worry if I’m not doing what I should socially. Anyway, I hope you don’t mind me writing. I hope you have a good day! ❤️

@PiecesOfWhoeverIWas

Hi! Thanks so much for reaching out to me!

“You seem to have a really good perspective on things.”

Ohhhh! Thank you! I really appreciate that. It means everything to me.

“If you don’t mind me asking, have you found more supportive people in your life lately? Have you found peace in doing things on your own? What is it that’s helped you?”

First off, no I don’t mind you asking at all. In fact I thank you for reaching out to me and asking me about this. I have found more supportive people, mostly on here tbh. Yes I have definitely found peace doing things on my own. Depending on what that is, I’ll honestly say it can/will be challenging or difficult but I welcome that finding it worth it bc the peace I get comes from me being able to do as much as I want or can and more importantly do it at my own pace. And telling myself this as many times as I needed to so I can realize it and do whatever it is calmly and peacefully and relax when I needed so I don’t overwork and burn myself out is what helped me.

”I’ve been in a place for a while where I just feel defeated like I don’t belong anywhere. I’m probably most at peace when I’m alone, but I worry if I’m not doing what I should socially.”

I’ve definitely been there and sometimes still am there. But mostly when I feel that way, nowadays I keep telling myself if I don’t/didn’t belong anywhere in the world truly then I would not have been born into this world. I’m here bc I belong no matter what. Simple as that. There’s a purpose for me, a place or places for me, something or many things for me to contribute and bring into this world, etc. I’ve discovered that for myself. You need to do that for yourself and be gentle and kind and patient with it giving as much time as it naturally needs for you to find your reasons for belonging in this world bc everyone has their own reasons as well as taking different times and ways to find that reason for belonging in this world.

When you say you worry that you’re not doing what you should be doing socially, can you specify those things you worry about if you don’t mind?

I believe if I knew what these things were that are worrying you, I might better be able to help you with this knowing what those things are specifically.

”Anyway, I hope you don’t mind me writing.”

No. Please don’t worry. I don’t mind at all.

“I hope you have a good day! ❤️”

I had a good day and am having a good night as it’s night time now. Thank you. Please take care and don’t hesitate to reach out to me anytime. We can even talk directly to each other by being pen pals if you want so no one else will see. Idk if others seeing everything you write makes you uncomfortable (as it does for some people) or not but it’s completely up to you

Hugs ❤️

@akunknown You are so kind, thank you for taking the time to respond to me.

I identify a lot with what you said about having the freedom to do the things you enjoy and the time to do them at your own pace. That explains eloquently what comforts me about being on my own.

I think what I meant about what I should be doing socially, probably comes from comparing myself to others too much. I seem to meet a lot of extroverts, and I start to put expectations on myself to keep up with them. (I was actually a little extroverted as a child, but life forced me to create my own energy, so I experience some internal conflict with what feels right for me.) I probably hold onto past memories too, things family or friends said to make me feel guilty that I was failing their expectations.

I’m in a place right now where I’ve been pulling away from socializing. At first it was a self-preservation thing, but I’m starting to try to focus on myself again. I really want to think things can get better with my self-esteem.

Thank you again for talking with me. Have a good night! ❤️

@PiecesOfWhoeverIWas

Please don’t compare yourself to others bc no matter what if you do that you’ll always find something wrong with yourself or always find someone better than you and think you need to do better even when you don’t.

You just need to do whatever it is that brings you happiness and joy. You don’t have to be extroverted. I’m not extroverted and I’m happy about that. Just be your authentic self and in time the right people who accept you as you are and who don’t see anything wrong with you will come into your life.

The most difficult thing I went through is finding out I couldn’t have children. I was pursuing my career and when I finally thought I was ready, me and my partner decided to start trying for a baby, couldn’t get pregnant for two years. Every monthly “time” depressed me when it showed up. I’m still trying to deal with it but right now I just decided to try and get motivation from other childless couples, what they do to keep their relationships intact since they have no kids. It’s hard but it is what it is 🤷🏾‍♀️

@impartialTriangle6036

I'm really sorry that your wish for kids is left unfulfilled. Children can bring so much joy into our lives but not everyone is blessed with them. I neither have children but I feel blessed being able to support people here, especially those who never had the parent they needed. Staying in contact with childless couples can be really helpful! Is there any hobby or passion you share with your partner that you can do together?

@amiablePeace77

That’s very true. Me and my partner are researchers, we basically do academic research. We do not necessarily have hobbies hobbies but that is a shared passion we have. We learn new things and teach each other. We are also in a long distance relationship and that’s what makes harder, he recently got a new opportunity and moved to a neighboring country, but we are doing our best to make it work.

Watching my mother die from cancer. I had no choice but to be the strong one in the family.

I suppressed all of my emotions so I would keep it together. Now, I don't know how to stop suppressing them.

@courageouspanda2006 losing a mother is very difficult because she was the person you knew all your llife.

I had to think of myself in a new way as my own person not her child. It takes time.

What an interesting question when you are old and close to the finish line. One might even have forgotten a difficult time, or have trouble choosing the MOST difficult. In any case, I think that most of those events required more courage than normal. Also, what I went through might be assessed as not that terrible by someone else!
