It feels devastating. Especially when you have been friends with them for so many years. The fact that they could have stayed but didn't make any efforts to do so is more painful than anything else. I have been at your place and it felt as if a part of me died after they left. When people give you so many memories to cherish and unexpectedly leave you - it can impact your mental health. Therefore, remind yourself that no matter how strong your bond was, sometimes people have to leave and that's completely okay. We as humans tend to overthink matters that we cannot control so avoiding thinking excessively is beneficial. I remember criticizing, blaming myself, thinking that I could have avoided the situation or have made my best friend stay if I did/said something differently. Self-blaming and overanalyzing must also be avoided as they can further deteriorate the situation. The key factor here is to understand that life doesn't stop with somebody not being present in our lives. Breakups happen, divorces happen, deaths happen but the world just goes on. It is okay to grieve over losing someone special but we must not forget ourselves in searching for someone who's long gone. Let them go and have faith that you will be given someone better than what was taken from you. Wishing you the best! ❤ Love, -Angel
