How do I detach from people I care for like family, but I don't think they feel the same?

A very tough question. Do you think it would help to re-assertain your expectations of these people? I think it's allright to love people who are not capable of loving you. it might do them and you good. what get's people (mostly you from the sound of it) hurt is often that their expectations are different from what the other party can offer. or that's my experience in any case. I wish you well!
