Practing a beginners mindset
by pamharley003
Last post
...See more A beginner's mindset in Buddhism or Zen is known as "don't-know mind" or shoshin. This means approaching a task, relationships, and learning with an eager mind and being non-judgmental. This is where you begin to let go of assumptions and have a free attitude. A beginner's mind is known to say, "I wonder how this works," to where an expert's mind is saying, "I already know how this works." A person's beginner mind needs to slow down and process what is being done or said. We just need to think before saying or acting out our emotions. We can begin using our mindset by looking at an object and pretending we never saw it. We begin to look at the shape, colors, and textures of the object. We can begin to notice our "what if" stance, asking ourselves, "What if I am wrong?" Common types of mindset: Growth vs. fixed mindset: Believing your talents are developed through hard work. Abundance vs. scarcity mindset: believing there is success, resources, and opportunities rather than thinking in a negative way. Stress Mindset: Viewing stress in a negative way rather than viewing it in a positive and learning way. How can we build our mindset where it is safe for us to have? A Simple Mindful Art Practice to Ground You This Summer
by Mya000
Last post
 July 4th, 2025
...See more Hi everyone, I wanted to share a simple yet soothing activity I recently tried that really helped me feel present: shadow drawing with plants. 🌱 It’s a slow, mindful way to connect with nature and creativity, no artistic skill required, just curiosity and a bit of light! Here’s how it works: Find a leaf, flower, or even a small branch — anything that draws your attention. Place it where sunlight (or even a bright lamp) can cast a clear shadow on paper, then simply trace the shape of the shadow. That’s it! The shadow becomes your guide. You don’t need access to a garden or outdoor space, a potted plant or even everyday objects work just as well. You can do this on a windowsill or under a lamp or flashlight indoors. I used a dried leaf and drew beside it with pencil, but you can use pen, pastels, markers, watercolour, or whatever you like.  What I loved most was how grounding it felt. Because of the bright light, I couldn’t see what I was doing — I had to let go and just feel the movement of the pencil and follow the shade. It reminded me to let the process matter more than the result. ✨ I’d really love to know — What other mindful and creative activities do you enjoy? I’d love to explore more gentle, grounding ideas like this. Thanks for reading, and if you give shadow drawing a try, I’d love to hear how it felt for you. 🌞🍃 — Mya #MindfulCreativity #Grounding #SummerMindfulness

...See more In stillness we gather, Each week a new chapter, Mindfulness our guide, In breath we abide. Videos to lead us, In stillness to feed us, Guided breaths to take, Serenity to make. Reuniting each week, Our practice to seek, Finding peace within, Letting go of our sin. With open hearts and minds, We leave worries behind, Embracing the present, In mindfulness we're content. So let us come together, In this mindful endeavor, To find peace and serenity, In each other's company –

...See more Oh, Dear Loneliness... Will you be the death of me? You cling to me, Swallow me, Wrap me into your world, I am fighting my way out Of this dark hole. For, hope is my weapon Faith is my light at the end of the tunnel They say that monsters are only for kids But how can you define a monster if you have never felt like a “child” In this beautiful sad World, One comes to realize that having a “CHILDhood” is a privilege Swimming in "childhood innocence" is a door to heaven accessible to a few Oh, Dear Loneliness… It is dark in the room and I am scared because you are under my bed… Copyright © raspberryHouse3196 2022

...See more It's important to have at least one hobby that unleashes the creative best inside you. It's a great outlet for your emotions as well. Emotion can be expressed through various art forms. You can either write poetry, paint, draw, sculpt...etc. The possibilities are endless. What do you do as a "creative" hobby?

...See more "Hello everyone!! What a beautiful morning it is today. I am happy today. I am thankful for all that I have. I am very healthy even having mental health issues. Today I baked myself some bread. I know I am loved and accepted."❤️ Sometimes having mental health issues we have a very hard time seeing the positive in us. Believe it- we all have some. Really❤️Depending our diagnosis and other things it is so hard to even see 1 positive thing. That is why we must say these things daily. Shoot- say them a dozen times a day if needed. Thing is just do it as YOU ARE WORTH IT❤️ 1. Who are you? 2. What are the positive things about you? 3. Scream out all positive things about you!! @24x7Awesome @303315 @AddictedTealover98 @adocker @adrjust1 @adventurousfan @Ady23 @aifos1976 @AjanMalic @alexisj070 @alfalfasproutdeux @alleywood13 The Mindfulness Center welcomes you to a place where it is okay to just be, and not worry about 100 things. You can observe nature or your own room, follow your breath going in and out, or be aware of your feet touching the sidewalk as you head home. It is all mindfulness.

There are no hard and fast rules on how to be mindful, and you do not have to do anything a certain way. There are guidelines to help us stay on the path of mindfulness, like in the Daily Checkins, where team members share insights and tips about mindfulness. You can join in the discussions there, or in any of the forum threads.

You will also find videos in the resource center that talk about what is mindfulness and guide us on a journey to having an actual experience right now of what it feels like to be free of our “thought train”, as we let ourselves go and relax a bit. If all of this sounds good, join us for hosted sessions in which you can discuss and experience mindfulness first hand.

If you like to join the Mindfulness Team apply here:

Community Guidelines

Stop and breath. Respect yourself and have compassion for what you are going through.

Notice what is happening around you that your senses are telling you. Feel the breath go in and go out.

Feel good about yourself. Life has brought you on a journey up to here. That is reason to celebrate and appreciate all that life offers. And listen and feel the breath!
