...See more "You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it." — Maya Angelou To Our Newcomers: A warm, heartfelt welcome to you! We're so glad you're here and part of our caring community. Whether you're seeking support, connection, or a safe space to share, you belong here. ♥️  To Our Returning Members: It’s wonderful to have you back! Your presence and kindness make this community stronger. Thank you for being here.  ❤️ This August, we honor Never Give Up Day (August 18th), a reminder of the incredible strength we carry, even on the hardest days. Let’s celebrate resilience, hope, and the power of lifting each other up.   🌈 Monthly Prompts & Activities: 1️⃣ Share Your Comeback Story – Tell us about a time you kept going, even when things felt impossible. Your strength inspires others!   2️⃣ Encourage a Fellow Member – Leave a kind note or supportive message for someone who might need a boost.   3️⃣ Self-Care Challenge – Try one small act of self-kindness each day (e.g., a walk, journaling, or a mindful break).   4️⃣ Never Give Up Playlist – Share songs that motivate you to push through hard times.   Let’s make this month a reminder that no one walks alone. Every step forward—no matter how small, is worth celebrating. We’re so grateful you’re here with us! ♥️  Gentle Reminder: You matter. You’re valued. And you’re never alone. 🌹

A Belated Welcome to May: Mental Health Awareness Month 💚

...See more "Little by little, a little becomes a lot." – Tanzanian Proverb 🌱 Hello everyone, Welcome to newcomers and returning members of the depression support community. Whether you just joined or are coming back after time away, you belong here. 💚 May is Mental Health Awareness Month. First, I want to sincerely apologize for this late post. This month carries such an important message, and it's one worth sharing no matter the date. Even as we move further into the month, the focus remains the same: the courage to keep going, the power of small actions, and the hope that tiny joys can still reach us. This month's prompt: Create a Dopamine Menu 🍏: What is a Dopamine Menu? A Dopamenu is a simple tool to help you boost your mood and motivation. Just like a food menu, it gives you choices. You pick activities based on how much time and energy you have. The goal is to help your brain release dopamine or the "feel-good" chemical, without pressure or perfection. Blank Template : Example of Dopamenu 🍈: How to Use your Dopamine Menu : Step 1: Print or save the blank template. Step 2: Fill in each section with your own ideas. Use the example for inspiration. Step 3: When you feel stuck, pick one thing from your menu. Start with a Starter if you're really low. Step 4: Do it. No pressure to finish. No guilt if you stop early. Step 5: Repeat whenever you need a boost. Feel free to share your Dopamine Menu in the comments! Sending love and light, Angelanj

...See more Entry 1: The Boxes of Cats It was a little strange but what I remember most is visiting a house that was in my old neighborhood that I’d recently moved from (it really wasn’t, so dream logic) but I came back to collect something I left or my mother left. It was very sad and the people who were there now were sort of okay with me wandering around and looking. I kept noticing the signs that I’d once lived there (painted over places that still revealed chipped paint and stuff I recognized from my apartment). Then I looked beneath a couch or table and found boxes full of kittens. Two boxes were full of meowing kittens in water that the new home owners had no idea were there, and one more box held a very dead cat that was an older one from a previous litter. All of the kittens were starving without their mother and I knew that it was the reason why the older one passed. The new owners suddenly smelled the dead cat and I took it upon myself to get rid of it. When I came back an hour later all of the kittens were gone, and when I was walking past another house I could see all the kittens. They’d all grown up into adult cats!

...See more When I told my mother of my depression, she told me that I was choosing to be this way. That hurts. Now I know not to bother her with any of it. So what now?

...See more You don't need a workout. You need a twitch. Stand up. Open a window. Walk to your gate and back. The goal isn't fitness. The goal is proving your body still listens to you.

...See more You don’t have to have everything figured out right now. It’s okay to take things one day at a time, to rest when you need to, and to be proud of even the smallest steps you’re taking. 🫶🏻 Whatever you’re going through, please remember that your feelings are valid, and difficult days don’t last forever. There is still so much good waiting for you. 🌷 Be gentle with yourself today. You’re doing better than you think. ❤️✨

Why do we focus on or feel drawn to others depressive thoughts and feelings?

...See more I’ve just noticed the last few weeks that I keep coming across social media reels on topics about depression and low self-worth. It’s just interesting to me that we do these things which probably just increase depression and rumination but it leads to feeling worse. It’s a dark cycle for us likely looking for connection in times of isolation. Kind of like the “misery loves company” phrase. My mother overheard me listening to these types of videos and was very vocal asking why I am doing this to myself.

...See more I think I need help.... I no longer know what I'm doing and I don't know what I can do but I need to do something. I'm either feeling completely numb or I want to cry and continue crying until I drowned myself in tears but I can't. My bestfriend is going through a lot and I just feel powerless when I can't help (which is all the time) and she is the only person I feel comfortable talking to (usually) but lately I just feel I can't; that I can't burden her with my issues because of what she is dealing with but I really really need to talk to someone because I'm being eaten alive. So then I don't know what to do. What can I do? This is really just me venting how I feel and what I'm thinking without feeling like I'm burdening people...it kinda helps

...See more Every day feels like a battle between my mind and my heart. Even when things improve, my thoughts tell me to take that leap and end everything. The comforting pull of that moment where everything would stop feels nice, but I don’t know what to do about it. My medication still isn’t helping. Big surprise. Never had any success with medications. My sleep is terrible even when I sleep on time. Juggling a full time job and three classes takes a toll. And I don’t know how much longer I can keep paying it.

Adult ADHD & Depression

...See more Hi am new to 7cups, I am currently working on a diagnosis for adult ADHD primarily inattentive type ADD and I also live with depression. A friend of mine with similar symptoms to me suggested I try Wellbutrin as it is supposed to be effective for ADD and depression in people that do not have anxiety. So far I have only tried Escitalopram and found while it helped me manage depressing thoughts, it made my mood flat and I felt detached and unmotivated. I curious if anyone has experience with Wellbutrin or can share some of their experiences with ADHD mixed with depression.
