...See more Welcome Committee - Listeners Hey everyone! I hope you are doing well!  I'm happy to share that the Welcome Committee - Listeners is being officially launched! Mission Starting out on 7 Cups as a new listener can feel overwhelming. From accepting your first chat to exploring different rooms and learning resources, there is a lot to do and see! That's why the Welcome Committee will be here to support new listeners through this journey. Our goal is to help new listeners feel confident using the platform within their first month and to reduce confusion around features, expectations, and where to find help. How does it work? Team members will reach out to new listeners to welcome them and ask if they have any questions, following up a few days after the initial contact. We may not be able to reach out to all new listeners, so if we missed you, feel free to contact a team member directly or reach out to a mentor [https://www.7cups.com/listener/training/mentors/]. How can I join? We would love to have you on the team! The requirements are the following: * Verified listener * 100+ chats completed * 4.5-star rating or above * At least 5 reviews * Listener level: Apprentice or higher (6,881+ cheers) Team members have a quota of 20 initial outreaches and 20 follow-ups per month. If you meet the requirements, feel free to read the guide [https://tinyurl.com/7CupsWCL-TeamPMguide] to get an idea of how it works and apply here [https://tinyurl.com/WCLApplicationForm]! If you have any questions, feel free to reply to this post or message me! Thank you to @AnnaSilverberg and @Heather225 for the idea and support!

Calling All Verified Listeners: Help Wanted on the 7 Cups Welcome Committee!

...See more The hardest part of the journey is sometimes the beginning, and this is especially true of our newbies. We as a community have the power and ability to ensure they get properly oriented and supported so that their journey is smooth. I have been actively contacting newbies over the past couple of months and the results have been inspiring. Roughly 80% of those I sent a personal message responded to me and very appreciatively! That's a really big deal because those people have a much higher chance of being retained (retained = staying on 7 Cups). But I need help! So it's with great excitement, that I announce the revamped relaunch of the Welcome Committee! Through this initiative, we can meet our newcomers at the start with a friendly welcome (think hospitality, a greeter, etc.). We will also provide guidance and resources they need to navigate their first steps. The tasks are simple. PMing brand new members, saying hi, giving resources, answering their questions, and sending follow-up PMs to make sure their transition is complete. There are two sides of the Welcome Committee: one to serve members and one to serve listeners. 1. To qualify to join the Member Welcome Committee, here are the requirements: * You must be a Verified Listener (find out how to get verified here) [https://www.7cups.com/forum/listenerjourney/ListenerVerificationProject_1839/GetVerifiedon7Cups_290064/] * No behavior reports (BPS) within 3 months * Comfortable PMing * Google Sheets skills – Basic knowledge of managing data in Google Sheets is necessary. Note: The team uses spreadsheets to copy/paste names and log PMs so you'll need access to a computer/laptop device. This work can't be done via phone. We apologize for the inconvenience * Maintenance criteria: 1-2 hours a month to dedicate to this project ✅ Apply here! [https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdye3w6JNdBiU4gNfilMGSxEfnqXXsQb-lR_xTvJmGD3GHKiA/viewform] 2. To qualify to join the Listener Welcome Committee, here are the requirements: * Verified listener * 100+ chats completed * 4.5-star rating or above * At least 5 reviews * Listener level: Apprentice or higher (6,881+ cheers) If listener support is your thing, find out more about the requirements on the team's promo post [https://www.7cups.com/forum/welcome/TheWelcomeCommitteeTeam_2670/WelcomeCommitteeListeners_374511/]. ✅ Apply  [https://tinyurl.com/WCLApplicationForm]here [https://tinyurl.com/WCLApplicationForm]! [https://tinyurl.com/WCLApplicationForm] ------------------------- You can make a huge difference in our community's growth by joining us. Help us extend our reach and support our precious new folks!

Member Oath - All Encouraged to Participate

...See more Our member community is thriving! Now that we have our group support chat rooms, our members are able to interact and support each other in new and dynamic ways. You all have done a wonderful job adjusting to these chat rooms and supporting one another. As a member of the 7 Cups community, you are all here for a variety of specific reasons. But one thing we all have in common is our love of the 7 Cups community. Our community is a safe haven, a place to find connection, compassion [https://www.7cups.com/forum/Resources_29/MemberCommunityGrowth_200/MEMBERCOMPASSIONCOURSE_6809/], love, and support. Our community is only as strong as it's members. We ask each member to agree to these community guidelines [https://www.7cups.com/forum/Welcometothe7CupsofTeaForum_27/RulesofEngagement_27/RulesofEngagement_62/1] and interact in ways that reflect these guidelines and the 7 Cups values. [https://www.7cups.com/about/values.php] Today, I would like all members of 7 Cups of Tea to take ownership of their home here. To show your commitment, we ask that you take the 7 Cups member oath. By completing this oath, you are promising to show kindness and support to all those you interact with here. It could be in the forums, with a listener in a 1-1 chat or in the group support chat rooms. Below this post, type out your member oath. You could cut and paste it, but I feel like this takes away from it. Typing it helps you really think through what you are committing to. Next, at the bottom, sign in with your username like this: I, ___________________, pledge a moral oath before my fellow community members, making them my witnesses, that I read and understood the community guidelines and ensure its compliance during my stay at 7Cups. The 7 Cups Values Series (Week 6/7): Believe in Equality

...See more Welcome to part 5 of our 7-part 7 Cups Values Series [https://www.7cups.com/forum/welcome/OurVisionforaBetterWorld_334/7CupsValuesSeriesWeek0PreJourneyOurMissionBuildingaBetterWorld_379125/]! Welcome to Week 6 of our series, friends! After exploring purpose, growth, and grit, we are turning to the value that grounds our community. This week’s value is: Believe in Equality. At 7 Cups, this means valuing everyone's background, work, and ideas equally; and collaborating across teams and levels. Our platform spans the globe and brings together people from highly varied backgrounds. Believing in equality means our community operates on a level playing field where titles matter less than shared experiences. It requires active, non-judgmental listening and an understanding that everyone brings unique insight to the table. Our collective strength stems from this diversity. 👇 This Week's Prompt: Let’s learn from one another! What is a tradition or a piece of wisdom from your own culture or background that you value? ⭐ Bonus: Share a time when connecting with someone from a different background shifted your perspective.

...See more Hello everyone, and welcome to part 1 of our 7-part [https://www.7cups.com/forum/welcome/OurVisionforaBetterWorld_334/7CupsValuesSeriesWeek0PreJourneyOurMissionBuildingaBetterWorld_379125/]7 Cups Values Series [https://www.7cups.com/forum/welcome/OurVisionforaBetterWorld_334/7CupsValuesSeriesWeek0PreJourneyOurMissionBuildingaBetterWorld_379125/]! Our community is built on a set of core values. They act as our foundation, guiding how we support each other, how we grow, and how we keep this space safe and welcoming. Instead of just reading, we want to practice these values with you. Every week for the next 7 weeks, we will explore a different 7 Cups value. We’ll share stories, try small challenges, and connect over what makes this community work. 🍵 Week 1 Value: Your Work Saves Lives. At 7 Cups, this means working with purpose and stepping up to help others. Saving a life sounds like a massive undertaking, but here in our community, it is often found in simple, steady acts of support. Sometimes, an active listener, a kind word, or the gift of someone's company can be a lifeline to someone in need. 💙 This Week's Prompt: Let’s talk about the impact of small acts of care. Share a time when someone else’s simple act of kindness or support changed your day, or share how you try to bring a sense of purpose to the way you help others.

7 Cups Values Series Week 0 (Pre-Journey): Our Mission & Building a Better World
by Heather225

...See more Hi, community! I've been thinking quite a bit about the core, and the heart, and the soul of 7 Cups, from the community to the foundation upon which we stand. There's a lot of 7 Cups lore that most who've come here in recent years may not be aware of. I am launching a special 7-week forum series aptly called The 7 Cups Values Series, to learn what they (our values) [https://www.7cups.com/about/values.php] are and explore what they mean to us. But before we look at the how (our values), let’s talk about the why (our mission) [https://www.7cups.com/forum/welcome/OurVisionforaBetterWorld_334/OurMission_18219/]. 7 Cups of Tea is for anyone who wants to live in a world where the human experience is free from stigma and stereotypes and rich with love and support. A world where all 7 billion of us can grow and feel like we truly belong. We believe that each one of us is inherently valuable. We do not measure people based on where they are from, what they look like, or what position they hold. We recognize that people make sense in the larger story of their lives. We understand that people are complicated and that life is not simple or easy. ------------------------- In preparation to set sail on our 7-week Values Journey, please report in by answering these: What is your personal mission? Or, simply: What drew you to 7 Cups? Share your why below, and keep an eye out next week for the official start of The 7 Cups Values Series! ------------------------- * Your Work Saves Lives [https://www.7cups.com/forum/welcome/7CupsofTeaMissionCoreValues_207/WelcometoThe7CupsValuesSeriesWeek1YourWorkSavesLives_379718/] * Grow Through the Path of Problems [https://www.7cups.com/forum/welcome/7CupsofTeaMissionCoreValues_207/The7CupsValuesSeriesWeek27GrowThroughthePathofProblems_380026/] * High Warmth and High Expectations [https://www.7cups.com/forum/welcome/7CupsofTeaMissionCoreValues_207/The7CupsValuesSeriesWeek37HighWarmthHighExpectations_380808/] * Accountability [https://www.7cups.com/forum/welcome/7CupsofTeaMissionCoreValues_207/The7CupsValuesSeriesWeek47Accountability_381576/] * Grit [https://www.7cups.com/forum/welcome/7CupsofTeaMissionCoreValues_207/The7CupsValuesSeriesWeek57Grit_382141/] * Believe in Equality [https://www.7cups.com/forum/welcome/7CupsofTeaMissionCoreValues_207/The7CupsValuesSeriesWeek67BelieveinEquality_382867/] * Have fun and keep full

The 7 Cups Values Series (Week 3/7): High Warmth & High Expectations

...See more Hello everyone, and welcome to part 3 of our 7-part  [https://www.7cups.com/forum/welcome/OurVisionforaBetterWorld_334/7CupsValuesSeriesWeek0PreJourneyOurMissionBuildingaBetterWorld_379125/]7 Cups Values Series [https://www.7cups.com/forum/welcome/OurVisionforaBetterWorld_334/7CupsValuesSeriesWeek0PreJourneyOurMissionBuildingaBetterWorld_379125/]! This week, we are focusing on the culture we build here every single day and how we apply that same culture to our own personal growth. This week’s value is (my personal favorite): High Expectations & High Warmth. At 7 Cups, this means delivering quality work supported through learning, safety, and candor. In psychology and leadership research, the combination of high warmth and high expectations is considered the "gold standard" for growth. Studies show that if we only experience warmth, we feel comfortable, but we don't grow. If we only face high expectations, we can become stressed and burned out. However, when you combine the two, you create an environment of psychological safety. You feel deeply cared for and safe making mistakes (High Warmth), but you are also challenged to step up, learn, and be the best version of yourself (High Expectations). We strive to provide this balance for each other here at 7 Cups through genuine care and honest, supportive candor. Now, let’s look at how we apply this value to ourselves. In your mental health or personal growth journey, it can be tricky to balance self-compassion with holding yourself accountable. In the replies below, share how you balance these two sides of the coin: High Warmth: What is one way you show yourself grace, self-compassion, or forgiveness when you are struggling? High Expectations: What is one personal goal, boundary, or standard you hold yourself to, even when it is difficult?

The 7 Cups Values Series (Week 5/7): Grit

...See more Welcome to part 5 of our 7-part 7 Cups Values Series [https://www.7cups.com/forum/welcome/OurVisionforaBetterWorld_334/7CupsValuesSeriesWeek0PreJourneyOurMissionBuildingaBetterWorld_379125/]! I loved reading your responses to last week's prompt on Accountability [https://www.7cups.com/forum/welcome/7CupsofTeaMissionCoreValues_207/The7CupsValuesSeriesWeek47Accountability_381576/]. So many great reflections, and it takes a lot of self-awareness to hold ourselves accountable to our own limits! But what happens when we honor our boundaries and the journey is still difficult? What keeps us moving forward? Cue our next value: Grit. At 7 Cups, this means driving yourself and having the mental agility to push past barriers. Grit is a powerful mindset that enables individuals to persevere in the face of adversity, bounce back from failures, and stay committed to their goals. (Reference this post from our 10th birthday! [https://www.7cups.com/forum/projectsandevents/General_2421/7Cups10thBirthdayCelebrationEmbracingGrit_308522/]) Grit is that resilience that helps us stand back up when we feel knocked down. At times, we all need a little external encouragement to find that motivation to keep going. This Week's Prompt: Share what drives you. What is a song, a movie quote, a character, or an image that captures Grit for you? ⭐ Bonus: Tell us about a time you had to use your grit here at 7 Cups (like pushing through training, navigating a tough chat, or finding the courage to join the rooms for the very first time).

The 7 Cups Values Series (Week 4/7): Accountability

...See more Hello everyone, and welcome to part 4 of our 7-part  [https://www.7cups.com/forum/welcome/OurVisionforaBetterWorld_334/7CupsValuesSeriesWeek0PreJourneyOurMissionBuildingaBetterWorld_379125/]7 Cups Values Series [https://www.7cups.com/forum/welcome/OurVisionforaBetterWorld_334/7CupsValuesSeriesWeek0PreJourneyOurMissionBuildingaBetterWorld_379125/]! This week we're focusing on our fourth core value: Accountability. For us, that means owning our actions, speaking up when it matters, and holding each other to a high standard. But what does that actually mean when we're on Cups? It’s a lot more than just doing what you say you will - it’s really the foundation of how we keep this community safe and supportive. Here’s what accountability looks like for us in practice: * Showing up for each other: Whether you’re committing to a Listener shift, helping out in a room, or just being there for a peer, people are counting on you. Accountability means following through on those commitments. * Keeping our space safe: This is a big one. It means stepping up if you see something that goes against our guidelines. Flagging trolls, reporting inappropriate behavior, or just helping guide a chat back to a safe place is how we actively protect this platform. * Owning our impact: Sometimes we mess up. Maybe we accidentally give advice when someone just needed a space to vent. Accountability is realizing how our words land, owning those mistakes, and using them to become better listeners! * Knowing your own limits: You can't pour from an empty cup. Being accountable also means taking care of yourself. That means setting boundaries, going offline when you're overwhelmed, and not pushing yourself to the point of burnout. How do you practice accountability within the 7 Cups community? 💙 Share a time when you had to set a healthy boundary for yourself to prevent burnout, or tell us how you ensure you're showing up consistently for the peers who rely on you. 🥅 Community challenge! Share a small goal for how you want to be more accountable on the platform this week!
