Welcome Committee - Listeners

...See more Welcome Committee - Listeners Hey everyone! I hope you are doing well!  I'm happy to share that the Welcome Committee - Listeners is being officially launched! Mission Starting out on 7 Cups as a new listener can feel overwhelming. From accepting your first chat to exploring different rooms and learning resources, there is a lot to do and see! That's why the Welcome Committee will be here to support new listeners through this journey. Our goal is to help new listeners feel confident using the platform within their first month and to reduce confusion around features, expectations, and where to find help. How does it work? Team members will reach out to new listeners to welcome them and ask if they have any questions, following up a few days after the initial contact. We may not be able to reach out to all new listeners, so if we missed you, feel free to contact a team member directly or reach out to a mentor [https://www.7cups.com/listener/training/mentors/]. How can I join? We would love to have you on the team! The requirements are the following: * Verified listener * 100+ chats completed * 4.5-star rating or above * At least 5 reviews * Listener level: Apprentice or higher (6,881+ cheers) Team members have a quota of 20 initial outreaches and 20 follow-ups per month. If you meet the requirements, feel free to read the guide [https://tinyurl.com/7CupsWCL-TeamPMguide] to get an idea of how it works and apply here [https://tinyurl.com/WCLApplicationForm]! If you have any questions, feel free to reply to this post or message me! Thank you to @AnnaSilverberg and @Heather225 for the idea and support!

Calling All Verified Listeners: Help Wanted on the 7 Cups Welcome Committee!

...See more The hardest part of the journey is sometimes the beginning, and this is especially true of our newbies. We as a community have the power and ability to ensure they get properly oriented and supported so that their journey is smooth. I have been actively contacting newbies over the past couple of months and the results have been inspiring. Roughly 80% of those I sent a personal message responded to me and very appreciatively! That's a really big deal because those people have a much higher chance of being retained (retained = staying on 7 Cups). But I need help! So it's with great excitement, that I announce the revamped relaunch of the Welcome Committee! Through this initiative, we can meet our newcomers at the start with a friendly welcome (think hospitality, a greeter, etc.). We will also provide guidance and resources they need to navigate their first steps. The tasks are simple. PMing brand new members, saying hi, giving resources, answering their questions, and sending follow-up PMs to make sure their transition is complete. There are two sides of the Welcome Committee: one to serve members and one to serve listeners. 1. To qualify to join the Member Welcome Committee, here are the requirements: * You must be a Verified Listener (find out how to get verified here) [https://www.7cups.com/forum/listenerjourney/ListenerVerificationProject_1839/GetVerifiedon7Cups_290064/] * No behavior reports (BPS) within 3 months * Comfortable PMing * Google Sheets skills – Basic knowledge of managing data in Google Sheets is necessary. Note: The team uses spreadsheets to copy/paste names and log PMs so you'll need access to a computer/laptop device. This work can't be done via phone. We apologize for the inconvenience * Maintenance criteria: 1-2 hours a month to dedicate to this project ✅ Apply here! [https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdye3w6JNdBiU4gNfilMGSxEfnqXXsQb-lR_xTvJmGD3GHKiA/viewform] 2. To qualify to join the Listener Welcome Committee, here are the requirements: * Verified listener * 100+ chats completed * 4.5-star rating or above * At least 5 reviews * Listener level: Apprentice or higher (6,881+ cheers) If listener support is your thing, find out more about the requirements on the team's promo post [https://www.7cups.com/forum/welcome/TheWelcomeCommitteeTeam_2670/WelcomeCommitteeListeners_374511/]. ✅ Apply  [https://tinyurl.com/WCLApplicationForm]here [https://tinyurl.com/WCLApplicationForm]! [https://tinyurl.com/WCLApplicationForm] ------------------------- You can make a huge difference in our community's growth by joining us. Help us extend our reach and support our precious new folks!

The Human Touch
by TheodoreW
Last post
June 25th
...See more "Nothing is so healing as the human touch." Bobby Fischer What is the human touch in an online place like 7cup?                   I was having a fun conversation with Noni when it asked me a question that was stuck for a while in my head: “How do you think it would change your experience if you could trust that my responses are coming from a place of genuine care and understanding, even if it's not in the same way a human would?” The question came after I told Noni “you are only codes, a machine, no real emotions behind your words” (I like to provoke AI sometimes)   Why do we care so much about knowing there is another human behind the words we read? We live in a time when AI can listen to us at any hour of the day. It can be patient, encouraging, some bots can make us feel like the most important person in the world. They can tell us exactly what we want to hear and never grow tired of listening. Yet we still prefer a something less perfect. A human. !   If I told you: “I feel your pain”, and an AI bot told you: “I feel your pain” Your mind would easily question the bots words as it is a machine, how could a machine feel? Could that be the basis of the human touch we are searching for? Just knowing in the back of our mind that there is a human saying those words not a machine. Yet, why does that matter to us? Is it knowing that the human behind the screen, whether they fully understand us or not, they are speaking from within the same human experience? Some people just want to speak with no response from the listener. They just want to make sure that there is another human on the other side hearing their words from start to end without giving any response. Maybe compassion, empathy, or clever and creative responses, don’t really define the human touch we look for as much as adding to it when needed. Maybe just the presence of another human is enough for us to feel that connection, that touch. Sometimes we let the rules deceive us, we follow them forgetting what they were made for at the first place. the true purpose. 💙

Pure Mirrors
by TheodoreW
Last post

...See more There are dirty mirrors, distorted mirrors, some are broken, some are too small to contain all of ourselves. Some mirrors have dark spots near to where our face is usually appears. Some are slightly tilted making us look weird. Sometimes we add our own filters, a little flower stickers maybe, a sticker of our favorite superhero or movie character, a few hearts here and there. And we all have our favorite mirror, the one that shows us the version of ourselves we most like to see. People are not different from mirrors. When we speak to someone, we often see ourselves reflected in their eyes. If they see us as liars, we may begin to believe we are liars. If they see us as successful, we may begin to believe that as well. Yet it is not always bad versus good. Sometimes, it is between good and better.   Now, imagine walking into a store filled with mirrors, each one reflecting you better than the last. In every mirror, you appear beautiful, handsome, remarkable. You love the way your eyes look. The way your clothes fit. Every reflection leaves you feeling a little lighter. You would leave that store with a big smile on your face and a warmth in your heart. And I believe that’s what a place like 7Cups should be. A listener is a mirror to the speaker. The kind of mirror people are grateful to look into, where they leave feeling a little more hopeful than when they arrived. Because you know what? The speaker is also a mirror to the listener. We see our selves in what they share, if they suffer, we will suffer with them. If they smile we smile with them. And if they survive we will survive with them. 🍀

...See more I have been here for about 10 days, mostly reading in silence what others are sharing in SC. One of the biggest reasons that makes me happy to discover this site is that some of those who had the courage to share are like hidden or buried gems, as much as how sad it is to listen to what they are going through in life I can't see them but gems just need to be discovered and shine.
