Introducing the Pet Corner! How to Create Your Own Pet Thread
by SoulfullyAButterfly
Last post
October 27th
...See more Do you have a furry, feathered, or finned friend who makes your days a little brighter? Or perhaps a beloved pet whose stories you could share forever? We’d love to meet them!  Welcome to the Pet Corner, a cozy little space in Hobby Zone where we can celebrate our pets, share their adventures, and get to know one another through the animals we love. How does it work? We want everyone to have their own little corner to share their pet’s story! Here’s how to get started: 1) Create your own pet thread! Start a new thread with a fun title featuring your pet or pets. Here are a few ideas to inspire you: - Misty’s Cat Adventures - Meet My Bunnies! - My Little Bird Family Feel free to get creative and make the title your own! 2. Share updates in your thread. Got a cute new picture? A funny story? A milestone, a mischievous moment, or just a little update about your pet’s day? Add it to your existing thread! That way, all your pet’s stories and adventures stay together in one place, and we can follow along as they grow and make memories. 3. Visit other members’ threads! Pet Corner is all about sharing and connecting. Drop by to say hello, admire someone’s adorable companion, ask questions, or celebrate their latest update. You never know what friendships might grow from a shared love of animals! You can subscribe to individual forum threads to stay updated. Note: * All kinds of animals are welcome! Cats, dogs, rabbits, birds, fish, reptiles, and every other animal friend you’d like to share. * You don’t have to own a pet to participate. Former pet owners, animal lovers, and anyone who enjoys hearing pet stories are welcome, too. * Please keep conversations kind, respectful, and supportive. Let’s make this a happy space for everyone. * For the sake of keeping things organized, please continue posting your updates in your own thread rather than creating a new one for every update. Ready to Share? Introduce us to your animal companions! Tell us their names, ages, personalities, favorite activities, or the story of how they became part of your life. And if you have a picture you’d like to share, we’d love to see it! We can’t wait to meet your pets and follow along with all their adventures! Have any questions or don't understand how to create a separate thread? Feel welcome to ask below or PM me for guidance.

You can be an adult with responsibilities... and still feel like a child inside.

...See more I'm still struggling with panic attacks as of lately, but now that I bought myself a new notebook to journal into, stickers (all from shows/films about vehicles, namely Cars, Hot Wheels, and Transformers), pastel markers, and a coloring book (ALSO of Cars), I've been thinking about how my old ways to work also affected my mental health and how I fight dark thoughts. I thought, maybe the reason why I find it difficult to get schoolwork done is because I don't even know what to write down. I bought a Kuromi binder (along with two other Kuromi notebooks) last month while I waited for a fiscal appointment (still glad I got attended early, because it was raining!), and just yesterday I started writing down an extended version of what I'll write in the schoolwork itself. It might also serve for archival purposes in the not-so-distant future. As an early bird, I often take advantage of the morning hours to exercise and shower, but I was motivated to do something different; blowing bubbles and stepping into the rain, in PJs, with a plushie in hand. I probably did both exercise and an express shower while at it. LOL. That aside, I've been playing plenty of the games I have on my Switch gallery, both to get their stories completed at least once, and because some of them are most likely going to be buried in incompatibility once I buy a Switch 2. Still. With stickers, bubbles, notebooks with designs, coloring books, scrapbooks, an Instax, and crayons... I feel like the child I've always wanted to be, while still being present with school and chores. In fact, on the day I washed my three blouses by hand, I thought "why go to the gym when I can use the scrubber on the sink to train my endurance?" There are... other ways... that I train my endurance with, and it even helps me redefine my own intimacy. I'll leave it at that. Note: The photo I shared almost looks like it's from a child's 90s life before bed. But it was taken with an Instax Pal, the character is Ribbit from The Amazing Digital Circus, and it was quite early in the morning when I snapped it.

Looking for new hobbies
by kalliekat
Last post
July 19th
...See more Hello! So my name is Kallie, and recently I went through a lot of hard life stuff that I won't get into here, and I have found myself without any hobbies. I'm currently trying to go through a dopamine detox, and want to find hobbies to fill my time with now that I am going through an introverted stage of my life where I'm trying to focus on healing. I need suggestions for hobbies to do that are relatively calming, easy to learn, and affordable for beginners to start. Some of the things I have interests in quite frankly are too expensive for me to get started right now. I've been looking at doing knitting but I don't know where to start and it's a little overwhelming for me. So any suggestions on where to get started in these hobbies or resources on where to learn the basics would also be great!

Do you keep fish? If not do you have any pets, that help you feel better when you are upset? Best of Wishes, Jet01

Hobbies are Therapy
by SmoothOpertor55

...See more There was a time when I didn’t understand what healing looked like. I thought it had to be something formal, something structured—something someone else would guide me through. But life has a quiet, almost playful way of teaching you things when you’re not even looking for lessons. For me, healing didn’t arrive with a grand entrance. It slipped in quietly—through the little things I did just to get by. I used to write whenever I felt like I was drowning in my own thoughts. Not because I was good at it, not because anyone would read it, but because it gave my emotions somewhere to land. Every word carried a piece of what I couldn’t say out loud. Messy, dramatic, unfiltered—but alive. When loneliness hit, I walked. Not just walked—I wandered like I was starring in my own invisible film. I built entire worlds in my head, created conversations that never happened, imagined versions of life that felt softer, kinder. Strange? Maybe. But those imaginary moments held me together when reality felt too quiet. And then there was music. I used to sing—not for applause, but for release. I poured pain into my voice like it was the only container that wouldn’t break. Sometimes it cracked. Sometimes it trembled. But it carried me through. Looking back now, I see it clearly: those weren’t random habits. They were my therapy. Because the truth is—the things we do, do things to us. Hobbies aren’t just “time-pass.” They are tiny revolutions. They shift something inside you. They give your chaos a rhythm, your silence a voice, your heaviness somewhere to go. They don’t fix everything—but they make everything feel a little more survivable, a little more human. You don’t need perfect timing. You don’t need talent. You just need something that lets you feel without explaining yourself. So don’t be a boring person. Be hobbyfull.

Video Gaming: Not Always Isolating
by astuteScorpius
Last post
December 24th, 2025
...See more Gaming has always been a big part of my life. Since I was a kid I've been playing games with others whether it was 1-1 or in a big group on individual devices. I would play with my uncle on his SNES and my mom and I would play Pokemon Red&Blue and various Zelda games together on our Game Boys. My sister I introduced to the N64 and the PS1. Video games have always been a way for me to connect with kids on the playground and, with the advent of the Internet, people across the world. Through Kingdom Hearts I bonded with the girl who became the love of my life who I married and now we anxiously await the release of the last game together. There was a period of time after I moved away from home that myself, my mother, and my grandmother, all played Runescape together until my grandmother's health declined. I hear many counselors talk about how video games are isolating and discourage interaction. How they encourage depression by keeping people locked up in a little corner by themselves while the world plays on without them. For some people, this may be true. But it not's true for all of us. My family, for all their rights, was psychologically abusive. There were days that without video games to disappear in, I wouldn't have been able to escape the screaming, the self-hatred, the bullying. I have been through rough years of therapy and medication to find the right fixes to repair the damage they did to me from a young age. Modern gaming actually emphasizes togetherness in gaming. Nintendo thrives off bringing players and families together. Steam allows players and friends to connect and share achievements with friends and family who play the same titles. This hobby is one I struggle with in my depression because it keeps me from gaming, not because it isolates me away from the world. I can't be the only one out there helped by video games with their mental illness! Share your stories!

...See more This is Motivational March and so I wanted to discuss with you about your hobbies and what motivates you to get started! Often I find it hard to motivate myself and so I might look at doing other things for a while. If I am in a 'hobby slump' and just want to find another project then that is exactly what I do. So often I might have many 'WIP' work in progress. I also know sometimes I look at all my yarn and knitting needles and groan! I love knitting but sometimes I just want to watch tv! I found my mojo when I wanted a new beanie hat, it was something I could easily knit AND watch tv lol! And, of course I got a warm hat :) So please take a moment to answer the following questions, of perhaps just read and think about them. ? Could you please tell me how you motivate yourself to spend time on your hobbies? ? Which hobby do you feel motivates you the most? ? Which hobby do you find the most rewarding?
