March 2023 Community Update!

Dear Community,

I hope all is well! The leaves are returning to the trees and things are in bloom. I’m relieved to once again start having more sun. The older I get the more I like the warmth!

We’ve been working hard on several projects. Some have been released and some are still in process that we will announce soon. One that has been released for only new members is a streamlined header. It is clean and easy to navigate. We hope to make it available to all users soon.



A second initiative is an updated Android app. Notifications will be working a lot better. This will be released 3rd week of April. A third is a new chat interface that makes it easier to read chats and provides more information on the right hand side. We’ve been testing this for a while and will make it able to be turned on via a toggle in the not too distant future. There are 3 other big updates that we’ve been working on behind the scenes. I’ll update you all as soon as I can.

As always, thank you for helping us strengthen our platform and community in key ways. One of our greatest strengths is our ability to collaborate and collectively solve problems. It is remarkable!

Spring has sprung here in the states and I wish you new growth and prosperity as we transition into the new season. In this month’s Leadership Spotlight, we highlighted community champions @Lou73 and @TabbyCat97. After a month of trialing Teen Listeners AMAs and hearing positive feedback, I will continue to host them, now at a different time (Thursdays at 3PM ET).

And lastly, I have started a series of Community Lessons writing posts on themes you request! Here’s the first one on the purpose of feedback and the importance of focusing on your own journey over worry about what others are doing. If you’d like to suggest a subject (or even help write it!), drop me a PM.

It has been a great month for 7 Cups Academy on the leadership front. We had five new mentors joining our academy team and we now have two new mentor leaders, @Healingtalk focusing on the Quality Listening Program and @Amiablevision1813 on 7 Cups Internship program. These passionate new leaders have been hard at work and we are excited to the impact they will have on academy. Please congratulate the mentors here and the mentor leaders here

Additionally, the academy leadership team met for the monthly meeting and discussed leaders experience, what fulfills them, what they enjoy etc. We are having an ongoing forum get together to accomodate for different timezones. It has been incredible hearing from our leaders and benefiting from their feedback and thoughts. You can join our team here

It has been a wonderful month filled with lots of progress and developments on the various fronts and it is exciting to see how the teamwork brings the best in all of us and the outcomes as well. I appreciate each and every one of you for your compassionate presence and support to each other in the group chats.

Speaking of group chats, all teams and community working hard to bring all layers together to scale up the support in the group chats. Also, we have an exciting update that @BrilliantTurtle89 joined us as the Group Support Ambassador to support and guide the chatroom moderators team. You can congratulate her here. While on the Listener Group Chats track, we have a new Chatroom Mentor Leader, @Compoundinghappiness. You can congratulate him here.

On the teen community front, @Lou73 working on re-introducing Teen Sharing Circles. We are working on final bits of it and will announce it in the community in the next couple of weeks to get it started. MagnificientSunrise, Sharing Circle PA, already hosting Teen Sharing Circles, so if you didn’t attend one yet, all teens are invited to check out.

Additionally, I continued creating prompts and discussions in specific forums - Teen Only Zone, Depression support, Bipolar Support, General Support & LGBTQ Support. I appreciate everyone’s proactive thoughts and discussions to support each other in the forums. If you like to suggest a prompt, discussion idea or even help creating some, send me a pm.

On the Verified Listener news, Lavenderhere and I are working on a follow-up initiative that would allow us to bring more support for our newest Verified Listeners and help them get more information about community, answer any questions or simply problem-solve a challenge. We will keep you updated on its progress. In addition to it, @tabbycat97 joined Verified Listener program as Project agent to scale up listener verification support & guidance in the teen community. We are currently working on improvements to our projects. The Listener Coaching Team is working on providing more tailored coaching to those who they are assisting. The Safety Patrol Outreach Team is working on growth and innovation with its processes, spearheaded by their Project Agent @Tommy. They have worked hard to further the SPOT efforts, so we are officially promoting them to Mentor Leader! Congratulations! Anonymous Evaluations Team is currently planning some interproject collaboration, so we will be updating on that soon.

The end of this month has marked the successful end of our first round of Women’s Issues Huddles, which involved a 6-week guided journey and 3 different groups of Huddlers exploring different challenges.

We plan to launch Season 4 of Huddles with various new topics in the upcoming weeks.

This month, our latest communities are the Motivation & Accountability community and Journals & Diaries communities. The Journals and Diaries community is hosting a One Line A Day Challenge to inspire everyone to explore the power of the pen, and we hope you join us!

During the month of March, the subcommunity team has been hard at consistently onboarding new leaders for our various communities and actively improving the forum experience for the entire community.

In leadership, we’ve onboarded 6 Forum Supporters, 1 Community Mentor, 3 Project Agents, and 2 Community Mentor Leaders. You can congratulate them here. If you are interested in joining one of the leadership roles in the subcommunities, you can view the masterpost here to see what leadership roles are available for listeners and members.

A friendly reminder for all forum supporters, community mentor and community mentor leaders are asked to fill out the Subcommunity Leadership Check-In Form for the month of March so we can keep updated on what’s going on in your team and roles and see how we can offer our assistance.
