...See more Hi everyone! 7 Cups is, at its core, a global sanctuary built on empathy, acceptance, and community. We host a wide variety of group chat rooms to ensure that every individual, regardless of their background, struggles, or identity, has a safe place to feel seen and supported. We want to address a situation that occasionally comes up across our platform, particularly within our LGBTQ+ room, regarding how we interact with spaces that might not apply to us. Sometimes, individuals enter a room simply to express discomfort with its presence on their sidebar or to ask how to remove it. Entering any topic-based support room, whether it’s for the LGBTQ+ community, grief support, chronic illness, (etc., to question its visibility can unintentionally disrupt the supportive environment inside. For communities that may already face outside challenges, our rooms need to remain absolute safe havens. When an interaction makes members feel like they have to defend their right to be visible, it impacts the core purpose of that support group. True tolerance means embracing that spaces exist for everyone, respecting their right to be visible, and allowing those rooms to remain peaceful and inclusive. How the Chat List Works To clear up any confusion and prevent these unintended disruptions: * Active public rooms display automatically so those in need can find them. Listings cannot be customized or hidden individually. * Visibility is not enrollment: Seeing a room on the list does not mean you are a member or obligated to engage. * You choose where to enter: If a room or topic doesn’t apply to your life or beliefs, you simply do not have to enter. The most supportive choice you can make for your fellow members is to just scroll past. No matter which room you visit or find comfort in: You belong here, you are welcome, and your spaces are valid. To make this corner of our community flourish, we're handing the keys over to you by making it possible for any member to host and bring this space to life. Our goals are simple: 💙 Give the community something everyone can take ownership of. This is your space to shape and enjoy! 💛 Promote positive activity and lighthearted connection. A place to relax, laugh, and connect with others in a low-pressure way. 💌 Who can host? We're making this super accessible because we want everyone to feel empowered to take the lead. ➡ Any Community Leader ➡ Any Verified Listener ➡ Members who are Room Supporters. ...See more What is a pop-up discussion? It is a small discussion on a light-hearted topic, it lasts 30 minutes each. The aim of such a discussion is to engage the participants and provide a space for everyone to spend some time discussing the topic at hand. Who can host one? Any listener/member who has access to the ‘start a discussion' button & room supporters. You need to have one of the following roles to get the start discussion button access. - Room Supporter (room supporters can't see the button so they need to ask a mod to set the banner for them, please remember to ask them to set it for 30 mins and add the word "pop-up" to the banner) - Discussion Leader (Anyone who is a part of the discussions team on 7 Cups, please follow the same instructions as room supporter) - Peer Support - Group Mod - Chatroom Mentor - Teen Star - Teen Chatroom Mentor - Support Session Leader If you don't yet meet the criteria, do not worry! Anyone can start hosting right now and can apply for the roles in future when they feel more comfortable.
