...See more Need some support achieving your wellness huddle goal? Share here what type of support you need. It could be ieas for breaking down your goal into a smaller step, ideas for reducing a barrier, help with figuring out the SMART structure for your goal or you need some extra encouragement after a setback, etc! We can then offer the support you're seeking.  This is a supplement to the group chat - sometimes a slower pace allows for new ideas to pop up, and it sticks around for all timezones.

Shared Spaces, Shared Respect: A Reminder on Tolerance & Inclusivity

...See more Hi everyone! 7 Cups is, at its core, a global sanctuary built on empathy, acceptance, and community. We host a wide variety of group chat rooms to ensure that every individual, regardless of their background, struggles, or identity, has a safe place to feel seen and supported. We want to address a situation that occasionally comes up across our platform, particularly within our LGBTQ+ room, regarding how we interact with spaces that might not apply to us. Sometimes, individuals enter a room simply to express discomfort with its presence on their sidebar or to ask how to remove it. Entering any topic-based support room, whether it’s for the LGBTQ+ community, grief support, chronic illness, (etc., to question its visibility can unintentionally disrupt the supportive environment inside. For communities that may already face outside challenges, our rooms need to remain absolute safe havens. When an interaction makes members feel like they have to defend their right to be visible, it impacts the core purpose of that support group. True tolerance means embracing that spaces exist for everyone, respecting their right to be visible, and allowing those rooms to remain peaceful and inclusive. How the Chat List Works To clear up any confusion and prevent these unintended disruptions: * Active public rooms display automatically so those in need can find them. Listings cannot be customized or hidden individually. * Visibility is not enrollment: Seeing a room on the list does not mean you are a member or obligated to engage. * You choose where to enter: If a room or topic doesn’t apply to your life or beliefs, you simply do not have to enter. The most supportive choice you can make for your fellow members is to just scroll past. No matter which room you visit or find comfort in: You belong here, you are welcome, and your spaces are valid. Let’s continue to choose kindness, hold ourselves to a high standard of mutual respect, and do our caring community proud. ------------------------- Please review our full 7 Cups Community Guidelines to learn more about our standards for respect, safety, and inclusivity. Meaning, you do not receive the Group Mod Badge unless you are global. The Support Team Leaders of the teams you selected to join will also be notified. You will be contacted by them within 3 days to a week of your original mod training. Leaders will welcome you to the team as well as give you further instructions on additional training you may need to moderator their community room, if any. For example: If you pick Self-Harm, the Self-Harm team leader will give you further information on how to safely moderate discussion on self-harm in the room. If your application is unsuccessful, a leader will reach out to offer feedback and further guidance. Global Moderators: After your application is completed, please allow up to 3 days to a week for review. In order to ensure the integrity of the Mod badge, we will ask that you aim to send at least 100 group support messages per month. We ask that you support and guide the community-centered mods and show up in the rooms consistently. Those who don't meet the requirements because of self-care breaks will be able to reapply for their badge back without completing the full training if they lost their badge within 2 months. Confused? Reintroducing Mega Members - A Leadership Opportunity For Members!
by ASilentObserver
Last post
February 1st, 2024
...See more Hi everyone, I hope you are all doing well. Today I am excited to share with you that we are reintroducing the Mega Member role. It is a leadership opportunity for members. History It was initially started on August 25, 2016 [https://www.7cups.com/forum/CommunityProjects_124/MegaMembersLeadership_974/MegaMembersIntroducinganewroleformembers_47532/1/] but due to some reasons, it was paused. But over the past, couple of months, the Community Management Team was discussing and thinking about reviving this role but with a better structure. This is an effort to give due recognition and appreciation to the members who are going above and beyond every day to scale up the support and compassion in different spaces of the community. It is also a leadership opportunity for the members so that they may be able to take better care of themselves as well as become the helping hands in bringing more support for all. Present Time Earlier it was started for different tracks like Group Support Chat rooms, Forum, and Feed. But, as we are starting it fresh, we will be trialing it for Group Support Chat Rooms for a month. Then, gather the feedback, challenges, and suggestions to iterate the process better and add other areas as well under this leadership opportunity. We will keep iterating it to ensure members in this leadership role get all support and help to build the community. Who is a Mega Member? Members who are regularly taking growth path steps, talking to listeners as members, participating in the group support chat rooms or forums but also contributing to the community in their own special ways to support and improve the community. Mega Member would be equivalent to the Mentor role of the Listener side. Responsibilities of Mega Members * Maintain a 50/50 balance between receiving support & giving back to the community. As a member, receiving support will be their priority. * Be the voice of the community and help Track Leaders and Admins to identify challenges and concerns that need to be addressed. * Help to improve the quality of support and scale up the compassion through different initiatives. * Take initiative to create an inclusive and supportive environment, hold interesting conversations and guide a positive dialogue in the chat rooms. * Take small steps to learn and grow as well as encourage others to do the same. * Host check-ins, open chats, sharing circles, or support/ guided discussions equivalent to an hour per month. * Ensure to welcome and guide new members to feel comfortable to share and participate in the chat rooms. Criteria to become Mega Member * Completed “Compassion Course” [https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdbuGsqFMbaKWtCoC1WHaCJfaKfwfI8YZ62CsqTI2BzqVNwDg/viewform] * Have a “Helping Hand” or “Wise One” badge * Zero behavioral reports in the last three months Resources that may find helpful: * Watch the video on “How to Hold Space” [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=48OKZh8B30E] * 5 Tips to Become a Great Chat Room Leader [https://www.7cups.com/forum/GroupSupport_168/CommunityManagersOffice_2008/5TipstoBecomeaGreatChatRoomLeader_224363/] * Guide to host Group support discussion [https://docs.google.com/document/d/1s7VNgptftgoUephwVwewsBNbEyLOOHZ7EMDDbSqbq7A/edit?ts=5feced7e] * Guide to host Pop-ups [https://docs.google.com/document/d/1KLGUoXH8mZyIP6z_-TjLVCsyOja6WRs-8yO5xCYE64Y/edit] Reminder! Boundaries and Self-Care are important. We encourage all to ensure they have healthy boundaries as well as take good self-care because we care for you and value your presence in the community. We are a serving community and we will continue to serve and support in different ways. To apply or nominate someone, please click here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScH8PYRsdN49fix8FVUiZ1A3vIz8WpQtdPP_YhIGytJRTGbnQ/viewform All thoughts and comments are welcomed. Teens: Personalized requirements for group support roles
by ASilentObserver
Last post
March 16th, 2023
...See more Hello, teen side! I hope you are all doing well. I am excited to share that we personalized the requirements to be a Teen Group Support Leader. We identified that our teen community has fewer teen leaders even though many would like to become one. Based on the feedback we received, we determined a need for personalized requirements for teen roles. So to strengthen this area, we’re starting small by adjusting just a few roles, trialing in the Group Support domain. If you all find it helpful and it succeeds in more teens being able to join leadership roles, then the personalized requirements will be applied to other domains as well to better guide and mentor our teen leaders. What Is It Like To Be A Group Support Leader?
by ASilentObserver
Last post

...See more Hi everyone, This post showcases what it’s like to be a Group Support Leader in the community. What is a Group Support Leader? It is an umbrella term for different leadership roles in the Member Group Chats such as Sharing Circle Host, Discussion Leader, Room Supporter, Chatroom Moderator, etc. What do these leaders do? They support members in group chats. They build and maintain a safe and inclusive community, host discussions on diversified topics, foster healthy and uplifting conversations, and ensure all feel heard, supported, and comforted. Every role has its own specific activities that they perform in order to bring support to members in the member group chats. Member group chats are like Sharing Circle, Support Room, General Support, Anxiety, LGBTQ+, Relationship, Trauma, etc. What do our Group Support Leaders think about their roles? This is what our existing group support leaders have to say about their role: * Being able to keep the chatrooms safe and making our hosts feel supported and valued so that they continue volunteering for us * Get to foster greater activity within rooms via hosting etc. * Supporting people generally in chats and welcoming people who are new! * I do on-the-spot moderating and enjoy that I can support and often finish up with a one-on-one chat with a member who really needs some extra attention. * I love the energy in the room and love to read the comments which usually are quite thoughtful * Spending time in rooms, ensuring a safe, inclusive environment. * The feeling of achievement after a good session * I like being able to be flexible. * The love in the chat, it's such a vibe! * Hosting sessions * That I am able to provide comfort and empathy and care in a more in-depth way to our people. * Ability to support members * I get to help people further. * I like helping support everyone and helping to increase morale, cheering people, helping hosts, etc. * As a room supporter as well as a mod, I've been able to find better ways to bring up the topics that need to be discussed. Overall, it's a healthy job that helps me find myself. As a room supporter, chatroom moderator, or host, one is helping a member in distress feel heard and supported and knowing that there are people who they can count on and they are not alone in their challenging times. How can I become a Group Support Leader? There are specific requirements and criteria for each role. In addition to following Community and Chatroom Guidelines, one needs to participate in the member group chats like Sharing Circle, and Support Room and observe the participation, participate when feels comfortable and attend at least 3 Sharing Circle sessions. It will help one to become a host or discussion leader. If you are interested to be one, you can apply to become a: * Sharing Circle Host here [https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfPe2N1QUjB_KEFF_EhAtZymtydkkIFlruU7u0lC35q4eTztA/viewform] * Discussion Leader here [https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf6xM-bHb1VK1w0BcVU0-S-xCxgxYfIJ9kRP1M_-ZNzABpU2w/viewform] * Room Supporter here [https://www.7cups.com/forum/GroupSupport_168/ApplicationStation_2417/RoomSupporterUpdatedRequirementsandApplication_247786/] * Chatroom Moderator here [https://www.7cups.com/forum/GroupSupport_168/ApplicationStation_2417/ApplyforChatroomModeratorInformationonCommCenteredGlobal_112280/] If you have any questions about the role or member group chats, you can reach out to @ASilentBunny, @Lou73 and @ASilentObserver
