...See more Need some support achieving your wellness huddle goal? Share here what type of support you need. It could be ieas for breaking down your goal into a smaller step, ideas for reducing a barrier, help with figuring out the SMART structure for your goal or you need some extra encouragement after a setback, etc! We can then offer the support you're seeking.  This is a supplement to the group chat - sometimes a slower pace allows for new ideas to pop up, and it sticks around for all timezones.

Shared Spaces, Shared Respect: A Reminder on Tolerance & Inclusivity

...See more Hi everyone! 7 Cups is, at its core, a global sanctuary built on empathy, acceptance, and community. We host a wide variety of group chat rooms to ensure that every individual, regardless of their background, struggles, or identity, has a safe place to feel seen and supported. We want to address a situation that occasionally comes up across our platform, particularly within our LGBTQ+ room, regarding how we interact with spaces that might not apply to us. Sometimes, individuals enter a room simply to express discomfort with its presence on their sidebar or to ask how to remove it. Entering any topic-based support room, whether it’s for the LGBTQ+ community, grief support, chronic illness, (etc., to question its visibility can unintentionally disrupt the supportive environment inside. For communities that may already face outside challenges, our rooms need to remain absolute safe havens. When an interaction makes members feel like they have to defend their right to be visible, it impacts the core purpose of that support group. True tolerance means embracing that spaces exist for everyone, respecting their right to be visible, and allowing those rooms to remain peaceful and inclusive. How the Chat List Works To clear up any confusion and prevent these unintended disruptions: * Active public rooms display automatically so those in need can find them. Listings cannot be customized or hidden individually. * Visibility is not enrollment: Seeing a room on the list does not mean you are a member or obligated to engage. * You choose where to enter: If a room or topic doesn’t apply to your life or beliefs, you simply do not have to enter. The most supportive choice you can make for your fellow members is to just scroll past. No matter which room you visit or find comfort in: You belong here, you are welcome, and your spaces are valid. Let’s continue to choose kindness, hold ourselves to a high standard of mutual respect, and do our caring community proud. ------------------------- Please review our full 7 Cups Community Guidelines to learn more about our standards for respect, safety, and inclusivity. There's Room at the Table For Everyone: Avoiding Cliques on the Teen Side
by Heather225
Last post
May 18th
...See more We know that 7 Cups goes through cycles—people age up, regulars move on, and new members join. It’s the circle of life here! We also know that when you have friends here, you want to talk to them! That is totally valid. But sometimes, when the chat or the threads become dominated by a specific group talking only to each other, it makes it really intimidating for new users to jump in. While close friendships are a huge part of what makes 7 Cups great, we need to be mindful of how clique dynamics play out in the Group Rooms. When a public support room feels like a private group chat, it stops being a safe space for new people (and our regulars!). It feels like walking into a cafeteria where everyone is already sitting at a full table. We’ve all been here, and it’s important that we are not only vigilant but extra compassionate! A few reminders for chatroom etiquette: * Inclusivity matters: When a new user enters the room or types "hello," please pause the conversation with your friends to acknowledge them. If the chat is moving 100 miles per hour with convo between three people, a new person will feel too intimidated to type a single word. * Inside jokes isolate people: We all love a good joke, but when the chat is flooded with references, nicknames, or stories that only a few people understand, it completely alienates everyone else. * The Rule of Thumb: If the joke requires a backstory that isn't known to the whole room, or if it's a continuation of a private conversation, it should be kept to a minimum, or reserved for PMs (or the Pen Pal space). Don't make others feel like they are watching a movie they missed the beginning of. * Remember your first day: We were all the new person once. Be mindful that you’re not creating a space that keeps others out. If you do not remember your first day on cups, perhaps picturing how you found your place at school or within your family might be helpful. There can always be changes, especially when certain people leave, or go offline for a while. It's valid to be overwhelmed by this, but just trying to include everyone in the conversation can have a huge impact. ❤️ 🤝 ❤️ Answer these important questions in the replies to take the no cliques oath! 1. How can we check that we’re not engaging in clique activity? What behaviors should we be looking out for? 2. What will you do when you see a new user? Tag some teenies into this post and let’s try to bridge the gap between the regulars and the new waves coming in. We are here to support everyone, not just our besties. Everyone deserves a spot at the table. 💙

All texts in blue color are clickable and hyperlinked. ------------------------- Important Notes based on the feedback! * When it says "Badges will be required: Either Chief Chat OR First Post OR Complete 10 path steps": It means that any one of the badges will be required to access basic chatrooms and not all three. If you have it then great but you need only one of them to access the basic chatrooms like Support Room or Member community Room. * Privacy concerns related to attempting Compassion Course: To take the quiz and submit your responses, you are NOT required to have a Gmail account or a real name. All it needs is your 7cups account username and that is also only needed for the badging purpose. Your privacy is our priority and we DON'T ask for any personal information or email contact. * How to check what you may need to access group chats: Please "Go to https://www.7cups.com/connect/groupChatrooms.php page [https://www.7cups.com/connect/groupChatrooms.php%20page] and click on the "Unlock Group Chat" button and see if one of the checkboxes is unchecked? If you have a Chief Chat badge and the first 3 checkboxes are ticked for you, then you have access to the basic chat rooms. But if the boxes showing ticked for you and still unable to access, then please send me a message and we will figure out why you don't have access.

Help Us Shape the Future of Our Rooms Rooms (Adult-side Survey)
by Heather225
Last post
March 14th
...See more Hi everyone. As our community continues to grow, we want to make sure our chat rooms are serving you in the best way possible. We know that wellness and connection look different from day to day. Sometimes, you need a quiet space for deep, focused emotional support. Other times, the best support is simply sharing a laugh, talking about your hobbies, and hanging out in a safe, mature environment. We want to make sure we have the right spaces for both of those needs! We are exploring the idea of adding a few new "Social Support" rooms. These would be dedicated spaces for lighter, community-focused topics like hobbies, pets, and entertainment etc., while still maintaining the safe, supportive guardrails you expect from 7 Cups. This is where we need your input. To ensure our rooms stay active, safe, and well-supported by our moderators, we can only keep a certain number of rooms open at one time. Because we have a cap on the total number of rooms, we want your voice to help us prioritize what themes and spaces are most important to you right now. We’ve put together a short google form to get your thoughts. Whether you are a regular or a new member, we want to hear from you. Click here to take the survey. [https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd69rNZTe4VlMyPjjNTWQwVTXAvY27w0JfNgaGfnDSpsrto2g/viewform?usp=dialog] It will close on March 19th. Thank you for being part of this community and helping us build spaces where everyone feels welcome and supported.

Frequently Asked Questions - Group Support
by ASilentObserver
Last post
October 28th, 2025
...See more Here are the questions that I came across during one-on-one, Group Chats, and Forum Posts. I hope you'll be able to find the answer to your query here! Please read the thread through carefully, and if your query isn't answered here, ask below or PM a member of the CM team. We will keep updating this thread to ensure frequently asked questions get answered and documented. 1. Why should I join Group Support? You should join Group Support for the following reasons- * To know you are not alone. Many others may be struggling and going through the same things as you. * To discuss your concerns, experiences, and emotions to get support. * To provide support to someone who might be going through challenging times. Join group chats to experience and find out more!  [https://www.7cups.com/connect/groupChatrooms.php] 2. Why am I unable to see any of the Group Support Chats? Probably you do not meet the criteria to unlock the group support chats yet. Please check this thread [https://www.7cups.com/forum/groupmod/CommunityManagersOffice_2008/NewCriteriatoAccessGroupChatsLiveNow_281153/] to learn about all the criteria you need to unlock the group chats. If you experience any challenges, you can send a direct message to @ASilentObserver [https://7cups.com/@ASilentObserver] 3. Why are group support chats badges locked? Group Support Chats are badge-locked to ensure a safe and compassionate environment for community members. We want to provide the best support to our members.  4. Where can I find the weekly schedule of the community mods? Here you can check the latest schedule [https://www.7cups.com/forum/SafetyKnowledgeat7Cups_181/CommunityModeratorWeeklySchedule_1640/CommunityModScheduleWeekofJan06_214569/]of the community mods. 5. Why did I receive a warning? Please check this post [https://www.7cups.com/forum/GroupSupportChatRooms_140/InformationUpdates_822/WhydidIgetthiswarning_44686/] to learn about it. Also, you can reach out to the moderator who warned you to discuss the reasons in a private message. To avoid warnings & mutes, please maintain supportive, inclusive, and respectful behavior in the group chats. 6. Why should I not discuss or share personal information in the group chats? We request you not share your personal or contact information as we do not allow offsite contacts. We value our member's privacy and safety. Also, it will be a violation of 7 Cups Group Chats and Community Guidelines [https://www.7cups.com/community-guidelines/]. Read more here! [https://www.7cups.com/forum/GroupSupport_168/ObsDesk_2008/ImportantupdateonGroupSupportRooms_215418/] 7. Why can I not discuss topics like Politics, Religion, Sex, etc.? We ask you not to engage in these topics as: * They are debating topics and due to differences in opinions, it could lead to unwanted conflicts. * These topics can be uncomfortable or triggering for some of the members. * We don't want to miss an opportunity to provide support to someone in need.  * So, to ensure a friendly and supportive environment and foster inclusive participation, it is better not to discuss these topics. * But, if you are interested in discussing current events and their impact on your well-being, you can request a Community moderator to open the Current Events Group chat for you. 8. What happens if I receive a warning? A warning in itself is nothing to worry about. It does not affect your account and will expire in 6 hours. If, however, you continue to receive warnings you may be muted. You would need to be warned 3 times to receive a mute. A mute lasts for 24 hours from the time of the mute. 6 hours without a warning will clear the slate for you. 9. What happens if I get muted? The first or second mute will last for 24 hours. After this time, you will be able to use the group chats again as usual.  10. Someone is upsetting me. What should I do? If someone is being hurtful towards you, click mute/report in their message. You can personally mute them in this way, which means you will not be able to see anything they type. Additionally, you can file a report on the person if their behavior violates Community Guidelines. [https://www.7cups.com/community-guidelines/Safety-Reporting-c97e53621f924398b1db1088c9def307] 11. There is a problem in the group chat. How can I contact a moderator? There are two ways you can get help: * Check in another group chat for a moderator or community moderator. * Submit an emergency help request [https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf6mgwzVCA-TTDzahtCH7mXdmxE5jTakstcQDWoQ_nXk2CfdA/viewform]. The emergency form is also located in the group chat rules.  12. Some members have badges beside their names. What do these mean and how can I earn one? The badges are to recognize contributions to group support. You can earn the badges by being kind and supportive in the group chat. Learn more here. [https://www.7cups.com/forum/GroupSupportChatRooms_140/InformationUpdates_822/ShinyNewMemberBadges_36271/1/] 13. Where can I find out what discussions and support sessions are happening? * Take a look at the community events calendar [https://tockify.com/7cups/agenda] to find out what's on. * Alternatively, you can click on "Join live guided discussions" from the side list to see what is on right now. * You can check the community page [https://www.7cups.com/community/] to find the active discussions going on in the group chats.   14. What can moderators do? Learn about what moderators [https://www.7cups.com/forum/Welcome_27/GroupSupportChat_195/GroupSupportModeratorRole_33260/] can and cannot do in this forum post. 15. Can I leave a review for a moderator or listener in Group Support? Yes! You can leave reviews for moderators, listeners, and room supporters in the Group Support Review form. [https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScmfpQqScgcFxOSHveQfbP52m-XNu-DBC6oK7ieTHrGQ4hJ3w/viewform] This can be found in the group chat rules. We use the information you leave here for quality control purposes and to pass on feedback anonymously to moderators.  Or, you can simply leave a shout-out in this thread: Group Support Champions!  [https://www.7cups.com/forum/groupmod/CommunityManagersOffice_2008/IntroducingGroupSupportChampions_326199/] 16. Who can see the reports I file? All reports now need to be submitted through the Helpdesk page [https://www.7cups.com/community-guidelines/Safety-Reporting-c97e53621f924398b1db1088c9def307]. Learn more about the process here! Only the team can see the reports to review and process them as per standard protocols and guidelines.  17. How is a Community Moderator different from a volunteer moderator? Community Moderators are assigned specific time blocks while volunteer moderators participate whenever they like! Secondly, they are present to extend the support to the community leaders and community as per the needs. 18.  How can I access a doorkeeper to promote a group chat? To access the doorkeeper, there are two ways:  * You can become a group chat leader like a Room supporter, or Chatroom moderator [https://www.7cups.com/listener/training/leadership/fdc3639b1dcb416bb0dc1033dcb0831b/], and as the role privileges you get the doorkeeper privileges too.  * You can apply for a doorkeeper role through this form [https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScm9ZtncP_uT2Bjl6M1t1z2jcofHdSFgGYTw-2VqCiIqBQR8A/viewform]. To be a doorkeeper, you need to host at least 5 sessions per month. Out of two, one should be in a pop-up group chat.   20) What is Sharing Circle? Sharing Circle is an hourly session where members can join a queue to get 7 minutes to share anything that’s on their minds. While that member is sharing, the rest of the group chat can send short supportive comments, but not ask questions or interrupt. If you want to know more, you can check out this post here: https://tinyurl.com/Sharing-Circles   21) Why can't people join along the Sharing Circle queue? We do not allow that because of the following potential reasons:  - The host might miss someone to include in the queue if they are busy listening and supporting the sharer.  - If the host is a community mod, then it will be hard for them to maintain a consistent queue without missing anyone as they moderate other group chats too.  - If all who are interested in joining the queue, keep typing * during a share, the sharing will get disrupted and the sharer might get distracted from the share as they will feel that no one is listening to them.  So to maintain fairness and consistency for all sharers and everyone,  we request all to be patient during the ongoing share and after the share is completed, the queue can be re-opened to invite all to join.  22) Why can't we speak other languages in group chats?  We are a global community, and group chats are inclusive spaces. As all of us are from different regions, our native language is different too. So, interacting in that language might be easier and comforting for us but others who may not know that language, will feel excluded in the group chats and may not be able to have supportive or inclusive chats with you and others.  So, to avoid such situations, we request and encourage all to use English as it is a common language to bridge our communication gap and allow us to have inclusive chats and conversations. 23) How can I apply for Group Support leadership roles?  Please check the Become a Leader - Member Group Support [https://www.7cups.com/listener/training/leadership/fdc3639b1dcb416bb0dc1033dcb0831b/] page to learn more about all roles, their criteria, and application form links.  24) Why is the room supporter badge not visible for Member Room Supporters?  As member account is primarily focused on getting personal support, while the room supporter role is focused on providing support and fostering supportive and inclusive conversation in the group chats. So to create a balance between both purposes where a member can get personal support as and when they can as well as able to perform room supporter’s responsibilities, we do not show the badge on member accounts. It allows members to switch to seek personal support anytime.  25) Can as a listener we can share our personal experiences?  I would say listeners can take part but remember your role is also to maintain boundaries and encourage members to share more. Ask open questions to the group to foster deep conversations with members. If you feel to share more in order to get personal support, we encourage you to switch to your member accounts to do that.  -------------------------   Some resources for you to check! - * A note on triggers in Group Support [https://www.7cups.com/forum/GroupSupport_168/InformationUpdates_822/ANoteonTriggersinGroupSupport_41379/1/] * What can I expect from a moderator? Are We Thriving or Just Surviving Online?
by ASilentObserver
Last post
July 30th, 2025
...See more Hello everyone, When was the last time you had a real conversation without being distracted by your phone? We are all glued to our phones, iPads, right? Whether it is keeping up with our friends or checking work-related emails, or just diving down endless internet rabbit holes, our lives are basically spent online now. Indeed, it is so cool in so many ways, but does anyone else also feel drained by it sometimes? Like, that twitchy feeling when you haven't checked your phone in five minutes? Or trying to recall, "what day is it?" fog after scrolling through social media feed for way too long? And trying to actually relax without feeling like you are missing out on something important online? That is the digital overload thing hitting us hard, and it is messing with our heads. As we celebrate May as Mental Health Awareness Month, let's take a moment today to reflect and discuss digital well-being.  Let's get real about how this constant connection is making us feel: * Constantly on Edge: That little red notification bubble can feel like a demand, right? The thought to check what it is and check to find out someone's perfect life moment, and feeling anxious how own life isn't great.  * Negatively affecting sleep pattern: That screen light can be sneaky as it messes with our sleep, leaving us feeling sleep-deprived. And when we are tired, everything else – our mood, our focus – just isn't great. * Attention Span of a Goldfish: Are you able to recall the times when we could actually focus on one thing for more than five seconds? Now it feels like our brains are trained to jump from notification to notification, endless scrolling, and making it impossible to get interested in anything. * Connected but feeling lonely: That is a weird but common feeling these days. As we may have a handful of "friends" online, but still feel totally lonely. All those digital chats don't always replace real, face-to-face connection, and that can feel isolated. So what can we do? I want to know what you are thinking. What are your biggest struggles with staying mindful online? What little wins have you had in finding a healthier balance? Let's share, discuss and help each other out to practice digital well-being.
