...See more Hi everyone! 7 Cups is, at its core, a global sanctuary built on empathy, acceptance, and community. We host a wide variety of group chat rooms to ensure that every individual, regardless of their background, struggles, or identity, has a safe place to feel seen and supported. We want to address a situation that occasionally comes up across our platform, particularly within our LGBTQ+ room, regarding how we interact with spaces that might not apply to us. Sometimes, individuals enter a room simply to express discomfort with its presence on their sidebar or to ask how to remove it. Entering any topic-based support room, whether it’s for the LGBTQ+ community, grief support, chronic illness, (etc., to question its visibility can unintentionally disrupt the supportive environment inside. For communities that may already face outside challenges, our rooms need to remain absolute safe havens. When an interaction makes members feel like they have to defend their right to be visible, it impacts the core purpose of that support group. True tolerance means embracing that spaces exist for everyone, respecting their right to be visible, and allowing those rooms to remain peaceful and inclusive. How the Chat List Works To clear up any confusion and prevent these unintended disruptions: * Active public rooms display automatically so those in need can find them. Listings cannot be customized or hidden individually. * Visibility is not enrollment: Seeing a room on the list does not mean you are a member or obligated to engage. * You choose where to enter: If a room or topic doesn’t apply to your life or beliefs, you simply do not have to enter. The most supportive choice you can make for your fellow members is to just scroll past. No matter which room you visit or find comfort in: You belong here, you are welcome, and your spaces are valid. Relaunch: Project Group Support Buddy- 3.0

...See more Hello all,   I hope everyone is doing well. I am excited to announce the relaunch of the Group Support Buddy program. The buddy program is one of the integral aspects of group support leadership, but it didn’t reach its full potential due to one or more challenges. One of the challenges was syncing the availability of the buddy who offers support and guidance and one who seeks guidance. As we are a global team and due to other variables, it isn't easy to sync the availability.  With this in mind, we made a few changes to restructure the program.  How would the new process work?  It involves a support request form that any group support leader can submit with their concerns or challenges related to the group support. Then, one of the experienced group support leaders can reach out to help and guide them through the issue within 24 hours.  Who is a group support leader?  A group support leader is any room supporter, chatroom moderator, host, or discussion leader.  Here is a brief comparison of what new versions have:  Comparison of Old & New Group Support Buddy Program Comparison Points Old Version New Version How to request support? 1-1 through private message Form-based Response Time 48 hours Within 24 hours Who will offer guidance & support Paired with a dedicated big buddy Anyone in the Group supports leadership to ensure coverage and timely support Who can seek support A new group support leader, ex: new room supporter, moderator Both new and existing group support leaders Who can become a buddy One who completed at least 1-2 weeks in their role. At least a month in their role Buddying timeframe First 2 weeks from starting the new role. Anytime in the given role. Questions can come up at any point of being in the role. ...See more Hello everyone! After careful consideration, I have decided to put the TOZ Group Support Team on a temporary hiatus. This is due to a lack of active leaders/hosts, and a general decline in participation due to the holiday season and other factors. However, never fear! When we return, we will most likely restructure the Group Support Team to create the necessary improvements for success. So, what does being on hiatus mean? - Hosting is suspended: You will not be able to host under your role of TOZ discussion host. However, you are welcome to explore other hosting options on 7 Cups, including Pop-Up hosting if you're still interested in being involved. - Applications will not be processed: You are welcome to apply to be a TOZ discussion host, but just know that no applications will be processed until we return, meaning you may not hear back for a while. - Script-editing/writing is suspended: Since the script-writing team falls under the Group Support team, similar restrictions apply. If script-writers are still interested in catching up on/continuing to write scripts, they may on their own time, but they will not be edited until we return. There will also be no new script-writing assignments. For more updates and news for when we return, please keep following this thread! Also, please keep in mind that these updates apply only to Group Support, and not the TOZ as a whole. For questions, please reach out to @sophiasanae. ...See more January Monthly Blast Hello all! Welcome to our first monthly blast! These posts are meant to give a recap of the month's events and talk about updates and announcements for the upcoming month. Monthly Recap: We hit a record of 25 sessions signed up and hosted by individual hosts! Congratulations everyone, I'm so proud of all your hard work. 2022 is off to an amazing start! All hosts will be receiving cheers for the sessions they hosted shortly. To see how many cheers you earned, check out the tracking page on the TOZ dashboard! Monthly Shoutout: Our monthly shoutout goes to @FallenStarss for hosting 9 sessions this month! And congrats to the runner up, @29amy for hosting 7 (and back to back sessions too!). Please congratulate @FallenStarss and @29amy by replying to this post! Reminders: Please note that for sessions to be marked "cancelled" on the sign-up sheet, your co-host and @sophiasanae must be notified at least 48 hours in advance. If I do not receive a message about a cancellation within the timeframe, your session will be marked missed instead. Also, please do not forget to change the status of your session! I know we are still getting adjusted to this new system, but it is super important to change the status of your session to "completed," or "missed" after your discussion's time slot has passed. This helps us make sure the tracking page is accurate. If I message you about changing the status of your session and do not hear back within a reasonable timeframe, it will be marked "missed" and you will not receive any cheers for it. Updates: All member daily scripts have officially been updated! Whoohoo! They have been re-formatted, updated, and the correct links have been added. The link to the member daily session scripts has been updated on the February sign-ups page of the TOZ dashboard. Icebreaker Hour and Quiz/Games Night have official scripts now, so if you're hosting these sessions, please make sure to use them! The script for "Remembering Our Purpose" has moved to be with all the other discussion scripts. It was about time, since it is a discussion after all! You can find it on the TOZ sign-up page by clicking on "Discussion Scripts" under the "Links" column. We are still working on updating all the discussion scripts, although this will be an ongoing project since there are so many of them! We need your help! If you see any scripts that are outdated or need to be edited, please add a comment on the Discussion Scripts sheet and note the reason why it needs to be looked out. Then message @sophiasanae. Finally, remember that the discussion scripts do not have the correct links in the conclusion paragraphs. This is because they are old scripts!
