Self Exploration & Self Love
by ListemerFatim

...See more Self-love is actually built in the small, daily moments of self-exploration. It’s allowing yourself to ask, "How am I really doing today?" and being brave enough to listen to the honest answer without judgment. It’s learning to sit with your raw emotions, acknowledging your growth, and setting boundaries that protect your peace. Today, give yourself permission to be a work in progress. Take a deep breath, speak to yourself like a dear friend, and remember that coming home to yourself is a journey worth every step. 🌿✨

Some thought provoking questions that I wrote in my journal

July 2nd
...See more Hello lovely Positivity & Gratitude Community! I hope all of you are doing well! Today I was looking through some prompts to help shape a better image of the person I want to become. I came across some very interesting questions and I thought I'll share them with you all. Feel free to use them if they make you think or if you feel you'd like to answer them! This is not an exhaustive list, just some I found to stand out to me personally. I think asking questions to ourselves and having that 1-on-1 session with ourselves can be very enlightening and worth it for us. I hope you feel the same about these questions! Questions 1. How old would you be if you didn't know how old you are? 2. Would you accept the gift of reading other people's minds if it meant you could never turn it off? 3. In what ways are you the same as your childhood self? 4. What words would you pass to your childhood self? 5. What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you? 6. What stands between you and happiness? 7. What do you want to be remembered for? 8. What’s the one thing you wish you had done at this point in your life? And why haven’t you done it yet? 9. What is the lie you tell yourself most often? 10. What are the day-to-day things you do that really make you feel good? Do you find yourself doing them as often as you’d like to? If no, why not? 11. What is your favourite thing about yourself? 12. What does it feel like to remember something? 13. Does social media make you in general happier or sadder? If sadder, why do you keep participating in it? 14. What harsh truths do you prefer to ignore? 15. If you could teach everyone in the world one concept, what concept would have the biggest positive impact on humanity? 16. What life-altering things should every human ideally get to experience at least once in their lives? 17. What are you capable of achieving? 18. By what standards do you judge yourself? 19. Where do you think is the most worthwhile place to find meaning in life? Work, family, hobby, religion, philosophy, helping others, all the small miracles, or something else entirely? 20. What do you think your future self will remember about you now? ...See more Sometimes we spend so much energy trying to fit into what we think others will accept that we forget to be ourselves. The truth is, you don't have to be perfect to be worthy of kindness, connection, or respect. Your thoughts, feelings, strengths, flaws, and unique experiences are all part of who you are. 💜 It's okay to take up space. It's okay to have needs. It's okay to be different. Today, try to show yourself the same compassion you would offer a friend. Be gentle with yourself and remember that you don't have to earn your value—you already have it. Wishing everyone a peaceful day filled with self-acceptance and kindness. 🌸✨

Day 1: Being True To Ourselves
by Sunisshiningandsoareyou
Last post
June 4th
...See more If you’re following the Love Month Celebration [https://www.7cups.com/forum/gratitude/SelfExplorationSelfLove_178/TheLoveMonthCelebration_374326/] series, I welcome you to celebrate Day 1 of the Self-Love week with me! 🥰 I feel nothing can be truly achieved without being honest to ourselves first. And taking off the delulu-gear (unfortunately, sometimes delulu is not the solulu) from our eyes.  Can’t get out of something without first even acknowledging that you’re in it.  I know “self-love” is often “sold” as something gimmicky online. Like a “quick-fix” to every problem in your life is just feeding yourself “think happy” thoughts.  It’s great if this works for someone, but I know that it doesn’t for most of us, in the longer run.  Which is why, it’s so important to remember that:  Self love doesn’t mean always seeing yourself in a positive light. It means being honest with yourself while still choosing kindness and grace.  A lot of us avoid the truth because we’re afraid we’ll judge ourselves or fall apart if we look too closely. But avoiding the truth often hurts more in the long run.   Oh and mind you, this is not about blaming yourself or fixing everything at one go. It’s about noticing what’s real inside you and letting it exist without pushing it away.   If you feel ready, sit with one or two of these and write whatever comes up:   💌 What feels unfinished or unresolved in my life right now?  💌 What emotion do I keep distracting myself from feeling?  💌  What am I pretending doesn’t affect me, even though it does?  💌 Where am I being hard on myself for something I didn’t fully choose?  💌 What do I wish someone would notice or understand about me?  For those of you who like to journal (pen/paper or through text), I’d encourage you to actually reflect on these in your own quiet corner, if sharing here feels too much. 🫂 If emotions come up, that doesn’t mean you did something wrong. It means you listened, you made an effort.  Being truthful with yourself is not self sabotage or self-criticism. It’s the beginning of self respect and self-acceptance. It’s how you start to show up for yourself. 🥰💖

Day 8: (Re)Building Self-Trust
by Sunisshiningandsoareyou

April 27th
...See more Hey hey everyoneee! ☀️💖 I’m happy to see y’all’s participating in the Love month celebration series [https://www.7cups.com/forum/gratitude/SelfExplorationSelfLove_178/TheLoveMonthCelebration_374326/] thus far and we are closer to wrapping this one up, so just wanted to remind you to take yet another moment to pat your back hehe. I am so so proud of youu! 🫂🥰 Something I’ve been thinking about after the last few days of this series is how easily we lose trust in ourselves… sometimes without even realising it.   Especially after moments where we feel like we made the “wrong” choice.  It’s strange how quickly the mind goes from “that was a mistake” to “maybe I just can’t trust myself at all.”  Or simply a “I don’t even know myself”. And once that thought settles in, it starts quietly affecting so many other things.  We hesitate more. Second-guess our instincts. Ask ten other people what they think before listening to our own inner voice.   Almost like we’ve placed ourselves on some sort of internal probation lol.   But something I’ve slowly started noticing is this that the very fact that you can look back at a decision and recognise that it didn’t align with who you want to be… already means something inside you is working.  Your awareness is there. Your values are there. Your ability to reflect is very much there.   And honestly? That’s the part of you that can be trusted.  Self-trust doesn’t come from never making mistakes. If that were the rule, none of us would ever trust ourselves again.  It grows from something quieter.  From knowing that when you do notice something feels off, you’re willing to look at it honestly. From knowing you’re capable of learning. From knowing that the version of you today is not the exact same person who made that choice before.  Growth changes people in small but very very real ways.  Sometimes the person you were back then simply didn’t have the same clarity, emotional awareness, or strength that you have now. And that’s not failure people, that’s literally what growth looks like.  Trusting yourself again doesn’t have to be some huge dramatic shift either.  It can start with really tinyy things.  Listening to that little feeling in your stomach when something doesn’t sit right. Letting your own opinion matter instead of constantly outsourcing your decisions or letting someone else give you that green signal before you make a choice for yourself. Giving yourself permission to believe that you’re capable of figuring things out as life unfolds.  Because honestlyyyy?  you probably already have. There are moments in your life where you handled things better than you thought you would. Situations you navigated better than you thought you could. Decisions you eventually learned from.  Those moments count too.  And a lotttt!  Sometimes (most times? urgh) we just forget to give ourselves credit for them.   Something to sit with when you’re ready for it: 🧡 When was the last time my intuition tried to tell me something? Did I listen to it, or did I override it?   🧡 What is one situation in my life where I actually handled things better than I expected to?   🧡 Do I tend to trust other people’s judgement more than my own? Why might that be?   🧡 What is one small decision this week where I can simply listen to myself first?  While I’d encourage you to reflect/ respond to everything, the following I believe could really help some brain-juices flow hehe! 🥰 🧡 What does trusting yourself currently look like for you? 🧡  You don’t need to suddenly become someone who has everything figured out.  Most people don’t.  But slowly rebuilding trust with yourself? that’s a really beautiful place to start I believe hehe!  And if you’re even thinking about these things right now, chances are that inner voice of yours is already trying to guide you again.  Sometimes it just needs you to be a lil attentive, listen to it and show some acknowledgment that you are trying to show up for yourselfu. 🎀 💖

Day 7: Accountability, Compassion and Boundaries
by Sunisshiningandsoareyou
Last post
April 1st
...See more  Hey hey everyone, it’s already March where I am lol and while the Love month celebration series [https://www.7cups.com/forum/gratitude/SelfExplorationSelfLove_178/TheLoveMonthCelebration_374326/] was inherently supposed to last all through February, I’m happy to carry it forward to this month as well! XD  After Day 6 [https://www.7cups.com/forum/gratitude/SelfExplorationSelfLove_178/Day6ForgivingMyselfGently_376081/] where we tried forgiving ourselves for not knowing better, something thoughtful came up that I want to acknowledge today. 💖  There are moments of uncertainty and of not knowing what to do when. But what about the moments where we feel like we did know better?  Where our choices don’t feel like innocent mistakes or lack of awareness, but like moments where we went against our own values. Where the regret isn’t just about the outcome, but about the decision itself?  That kind of guilt can feel heavier. Because it’s not only “I didn’t understand back then.” Sometimes it’s “I knew something wasn’t right, and I still chose it.” Andddd having been there too many a times, I know it’s not an easy experience to live with. (‘:  If you’ve ever felt that way too, you’re not alone in it.  Recognising those moments honestly takes a lot of courage. It means you care about your values. It means you are someone who reflects on your actions and the kind of person you want to be.  But here’s something worth gently sitting with. (We can at least try lol) Accountability and lifelong self-condemnation are not the same thing.  (Yes please read it again) Taking responsibility means acknowledging what happened, understanding why it happened, learning your lesson and choosing differently when life gives you the chance again.  But turning that awareness into endless self-punishment rarely leads to growth. More often, it keeps us stuck in heavier emotions of guilt and shame instead of helping us move forward with clarity and liberation.  For many of us, self reflection easily turns into self criticism. We replay situations, question our decisions, and convince ourselves that being hard on ourselves is the only way to stay responsible. (!!)   Howeverrrr, I feel that constantly attacking yourself doesn’t actually help you become a “better” person. It just makes you feel smaller inside your own life.   I will re-iterate as I have probably said this in some way or form already, that self- compassion does not mean pretending nothing happened or excusing damage.  It simply means allowing yourself to acknowledge your humanity while you grow beyond it.   And and and this is often where something important begins to shift.  When you start treating yourself with more honesty and compassion, you become more aware of the choices, environments, and patterns that influence your behaviour. You begin to notice what brings you closer to the person you want to be, and what pulls you away from that.  This kind of awareness naturally leads to boundaries. Yes that very much used terminology we see around! Sometimes those boundaries are with other people. Sometimes they are with situations that drain you or push you into versions of yourself you don’t feel proud of.  I do feel that the most important kind of boundaries we need are with our own inner voice that keeps insisting we deserve to suffer forever for something that already happened.   Boundaries aren’t about pushing people away or becoming harsh/ cold/ avoidant with.  They’re about protecting your well-being so your choices can come from a place of clarity rather than guilt, pressure, or exhaustion.  Learning them can feel uncomfortable at first, especially if you’re used to being the one who adapts, accommodates, or keeps the peace. (🫠)   But caring about your own well-being doesn’t make you selfish. It simply means you’re no longer abandoning yourself in order to hold everything else together.  Growth doesn’t require you to erase your past. It asks you to learn from it.  You’re allowed to become someone who lives more in alignment with their values now. You’re allowed to choose differently today than you did before.  That isn’t hypocrisy. Thats you trying to show up for yourself. This is growth. You’re learning, you’re growing, you’re choosing better for yourself today. It makes more of a difference than blaming yourself ever will.  Something to sit with when you are ready-  🎀 What is something I still blame myself for, even though I have already recognised the lesson in it?   🎀 How can I acknowledge my responsibility in a situation without turning that awareness into self-punishment? What might that look like for me?   🎀 If someone I care about had made the same mistake I did, how would I speak to them about it? What stops me from offering myself that same understanding?   🎀 What is one boundary (with people, situations, or even my own inner voice) that might help me live more in alignment with the person I want to be now?   🎀 What would accountability look like if it came from growth and care for myself, rather than guilt or shame? You don’t have to become a perfect version of yourself overnight. None of us do.  Sometimes growth simply looks like becoming a little more aware, a little more honest, and a little more intentional than we were before.   And if today you are trying to live with more awareness, more responsibility, and more care than you once did… that already says a lot about who you are becoming. Anddd? I’m sooo very proud of *you*.  Remember please, the past may explain parts of your story. But it doesn’t have to decide the rest of it. You can keep writing, rewriting it as you keep going, and as you keep growing. 💖

Day 6: Forgiving Myself, Gently
by Sunisshiningandsoareyou
Last post
March 31st
...See more Hiiii everyone, I know it’s been a while xD but life got in the way and I’m back now with another part of the Love Month Celebration series [https://www.7cups.com/forum/gratitude/SelfExplorationSelfLove_178/TheLoveMonthCelebration_374326/], hope this finds you doing well. 🤍 I knowww that I might sound repetitive in each one of these but I will literally keep reminding you that i am sooo proud of you. If you’ve been here through the past few days (all through February so far actually!!) you’ve already done something incredibly brave. You’ve looked inward. You’ve been honest. You’ve questioned beliefs that once felt permanent and some of it may still do but what matters is that you have tried to show up for yourself with more safety and kindness every single time.   However sometimes? when we reach this point, something else quietly surfaces. Regret. Embarrassment. Guilt. Confusion. Anger. Or that heavy feeling of wishing you had known better back then.  Today is for ‘that’ part of you.  Not to reopen wounds. Not to judge your past. Not to re-analyse the would-haves, could-haves or should-haves of the past. Not to question your past choices or awareness.  Buttt to simply help you loosen the grip of blame you may still be holding against yourself.   I feel like this should be common knowledge but let me remind you that the truth is, every version of you made decisions based on what they knew at the time. Based on what they had the strength, awareness, and support to handle in that moment. The situations, the circumstances, the environment, the choices, they were all different back then.  You didn’t have today’s clarity back then. You didn’t have today’s understanding back then. You didn’t have the means and resources (emotional and otherwise) you may have today back then. And that’s *not* your fault.  You were never meant to know everything at once. You were learning in real time. You were choosing with the information you had. You were surviving situations you didn’t fully understand yet.  And holding today’s wisdom against yesterday’s self is not fair.  (Yess, it isn’t!) There is a version of you in your past who genuinely believed they were doing the best they could. Even if the outcome wasn’t ideal or Even if you wish it had gone differently. Even if you feel embarrassed or disappointed now.   That version of you deserves compassion, not cross-examination or constant scrutiny.  Forgiveness doesn’t mean pretending nothing hurt you. It doesn’t mean excusing harm or skipping accountability.  It means releasing yourself from endless self-punishment and criticism. It means saying, softly but firmly, “I don’t need to keep hurting myself for this.”   Sometimes we hold ourselves hostage to a version of us who was still learning. Still surviving. Still figuring things out without the tools we have now.   You are allowed to outgrow your past without dragging it behind you as proof of your flaws.  You are allowed to become wiser without shaming who you used to be.  You are allowed to feel peace even if everything wasn’t handled perfectly/ or the way you ideally wanted to.   If/  you feel ready, here are a few gentle reflections you can sit with today/ whenever:  ❤️‍🩹 What is something I still blame myself for, even though I was doing my best at the time? ❤️‍🩹 What did that version of me need, but didn’t receive? (from myself/ others)  ❤️‍🩹 If I could sit beside my past self today, what would I want them to know? (A highly recommended prompt to respond to🫂)  ❤️‍🩹 Instead of “Why did I do that?” Or “What could I do better?” can I ask “What was I trying to protect or cope with back then?” ❤️‍🩹 What am I ready to stop punishing myself for?  (Also thiss, super recommended to reflect/ respond)  You don’t have to force forgiveness today. This is not about suddenly being over it or falling under the pretence that your magically all-good/ at peace with it now.  I feel, sometimes forgiveness begins with simply saying, “I see why I was that way.” Or “I see why I did what I did then.” “I understand myself better now.” “I’m allowed to grow beyond that version of me.” Or simply just a “I see me.”  If/ when it feels right, place your hand over your heart and tell yourself: “I forgive myself for not knowing what I know now.”   Not because the past didn’t matter. Or can be forgotten. But because you deserve peace in your present.   You don’t need to carry every past version of yourself like a weight. I know it’s heavy and your heart is already carrying enough.  They were chapters in your life. Not definite life sentences.  And you are allowed to move forward with kindness and grace now.  You are not your worst decision. You are not your most uninformed moment. You are not the version of you that didn’t know better.  You are the person who learned. You are the person who stayed. You are the person who is trying.  And that is someone worth forgiving and worth loving. 🤍 What are you considering to forgive yourself for? 🫂🤍  PS: If you’re also new to this “forgiving self” thingyyy (yeah what even?!), you may want to see this too: Click Me [https://www.7cups.com/forum/generalsupport/General_2440/ToTheOneLearningToForgiveThemself_373859/]. 💌
